O Centro Cultural do Banco do Brasil (CCBB) do Rio de Janeiro é um dos quatro CCBBs do país, que também existem nas capitais Brasília, São Paulo e Belo Horizonte. Os Centros são espaços multidisciplinares com programação regular (seis dias por semana), nas áreas de artes cênicas, cinema, exposição, ideias (palestras, debates, seminários etc), música e programa educativo. O CCBB oferece ao público uma programação cultural que é referência no Rio de Janeiro e no Brasil. Com projetos nas mais diversas áreas, o Centro tem um volume de freqüentadores comparável ao de outras grandes instituições culturais do mundo.
Nos vários campos da arte, a programação procura oferecer obras que vão do clássico ao experimental, do erudito ao popular, dos grandes mestres aos talentos iniciantes. Esses critérios de seleção permitem ao CCBB alcançar freqüentadores com os mais abrangentes níveis de interesse. Instalado no número 66 da Rua Primeiro de Março, o Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil é uma das jóias arquitetônicas da Cidade. Seus espaços, organizados e adornados com elementos neoclássicos, abrigam três teatros, sala de cinema, sala de vídeo, cinco salas de exposições, biblioteca com 140 mil títulos, museu e arquivo histórico, videoteca e salão para conferências e palestras. Designed by architect Eugene DeRosa for Benjamin S. Moss, it opened as B.S. Moss's Colony Theatre on Christmas Day 1924 as a venue for vaudeville shows and motion pictures. It was re-named Universal's Colony Theatre, B.S. Moss' Broadway Theatre, and Earl Carroll's Broadway Theatre before becoming a legitimate house simply called Broadway Theatre on December 8, 1930 . (In 1937, known as Ciné Roma, it showed Italian films). The Shuberts bought it in 1939. It was renovated extensively in 1956 and 1986. The large stage (nearly sixty feet deep) and seating capacity (1761) have made it a popular theatre for musicals throughout the years.

The Eugene O'Neill Theatre is a legitimate Broadway theatre located at 230 West 49th Street in midtown-Manhattan.
Designed by architect Herbert J. Krapp, it was built for the Shuberts as part of a theatre-hotel complex named for 19th century tragedian Edwin Forrest. It opened on November 24, 1925 with the musical Mayflowers as its premiere production. It was renamed the Coronet in 1945 and rechristened the O'Neill in honor of the renowned American playwright in 1959 by then owner Lester Osterman. It later was purchased by playwright Neil Simon, who sold it to Jujamcyn Theatres in 1982.

Opened in 1986, the Marquis Theatre is one of the newest theatres to be built on Broadway. Located inside the Marriott Marquis Hotel, it was designed to provide maximum comfort for audiences and actors while conveying a feeling of intimacy. Since 1927, this theatre was known as the Alvin. It was renamed in 1983 to honor America’s most prolific playwright, Neil Simon, following the successful engagement of Brighton Beach Memoirs, the first play of an autobiographical trilogy about his youth with his family. Fittingly, in 1985, the second play of Mr. Simon’s trilogy, Biloxi Blues played there successfully. In 1992, Mr. Simon returned again with his play, Jake’s Women.

The Barrymore Theatre (originally The Eastwood) was built in 1929 as the third movie theater erected in Madison, Wisconsin. It sustained itself as a neighborhood movie theater until the late 70's. One of the largest natural amphitheaters in the world, with a current seating capacity of just under 18,000, the Hollywood Bowl has been the summer home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic since its official opening in 1922, and, in 1991 gave its name to a resident ensemble that has filled a special niche in the musical life of Southern California, the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra.

O ato de destruir um prédio tão lindo, antigo, inteiro e grande, era demais para os integrantes do Circo Voador, um grupo que valorizava a cultura brasileira de todas as épocas. As marretas soavam sovando a bela fachada da Fundição Progresso.

O antigo prédio do Supremo Tribunal Federal foi reaberto no dia 4 de abril de 2001 como Centro Cultural Justiça Federal. O processo de restauração respeitou as características históricas da construção, conforme orientação do IPHAN. O patrocínio foi da Caixa Econômica Federal e a coordenação do restauro esteve a cargo do Instituto Herbert Levy, com apoio do Tribunal Regional Federal da 2ª Região. A obra dotou o edifício de uma vasta e moderna infra-estrutura predial em termos de refrigeração, instalações elétricas, telefonia, sistema hidráulico etc. Atualmente, o CCJF dispõe de 14 amplas salas de exposições, teatro, biblioteca, lojinha e cafeteria. Há ainda uma sala destinada à instalação de um cinema.

The Vivian Beaumont Theater is a theater in New York City in the United States. It is located at Lincoln Center, 150 W. 65th Street, on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. It was designed by the renowned Finnish American architect Eero Saarinen. Although it was built for the presentation of plays such as those produced on Broadway, it differs from traditional Broadway theaters because of its amphitheater configuration and thrust stage. The building includes two auditoriums, the 1,080-seat Vivian Beaumont Theater and the 299-seat Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater (called The Forum until 1973). The Beaumont is considered a fairly large theater for dramatic plays and a medium-size theater for musicals. The Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre is a legitimate Broadway theatre located at 242 West 45th Street in midtown-Manhattan.
Designed by architect Herbert J. Krapp, it opened as the Royale Theatre on January 11, 1927 with a musical entitled Piggy. John Golden leased and renamed the theatre for himself from 1932 to 1937, when the Shubert Organization assumed ownership and leased the theater to CBS Radio until 1940, when it was restored to its original use and name. On May 9, 2005, it was renamed for longtime Shubert Organization president Bernard B. Jacobs. Source

Em 8 de março de 1979, era inaugurado o teatro Villa-Lobos, com a presença do governador do Estado, Floriano Faria Lima e Adolpho Bloch (1908-1995), então presidente da Funarj. Com três unidades cênicas – o teatro e duas salas Monteiro Lobato (Espaço II) e Arnaldo Niskier (Espaço III) –, preserva a característica de receber espetáculos inéditos e trabalhos experimentais nos espaços anexos.
A escolha do nome para o teatro foi uma homenagem ao maestro Heitor Villa-Lobos, um dos maiores compositores brasileiros, autor de mais de mil músicas. Compôs peças de vários gêneros - concertos, sinfonias, suítes, quartetos de cordas, sonatas, arranjos para coro, peças para pequenos conjuntos e grande orquestra. Com maestria conseguiu mesclar o folclore brasileiro com a música de concerto européia.

A São Paulo das três primeiras décadas do Século XX estava em plena transformação, conduzida pela pujante economia cafeeira e pela industrialização. Novos comportamentos, diferentes hábitos, outras influências culturais e políticas geravam os componentes que fariam da capital paulista uma referência social para o País e seu grande centro econômico. A cena cultural de São Paulo tornava-se mais rica, apesar de o Brasil sofrer as conseqüências da guerra na qual a Europa estava mergulhada e ainda que a própria cidade vivesse um período tumultuado em função das freqüentes greves de trabalhadores, então em fase de organização.

O Centro Cultural Suassuna está localizado na Barra da Tijuca. No complexo do CCS são realizados eventos culturais e empresariais, tais como: teatro adulto e infantil, espetáculos de dança, shows, exposições, filmes, congressos, palestras, além de um calendário constante de cursos, wokshops e oficinas. O CCS tem como proposta trazer para adultos e crianças as novidades culturais, o que é aplaudido pela crítica e o que é sucesso entre o público do Rio de Janeiro e do Brasil.

O Teatro Municipal João Caetano foi reinaugurado em 1995, após uma profunda restauração. O projeto de recuperação encarou um grande desafio que era respeitar os aspectos históricos e ao mesmo tempo dotá-lo de modernidade. Ao longo de sua história, o teatro sofreu sucessivas obras de reformas que foram alterando a forma original do prédio, adaptando espaços e desfigurando seus seus núcleos históricos, dando origem a um prédio com características de diferentes épocas. No entanto, a fachada manteve as linhas arquitetônicas neoclássicas da reforma de 1888 e 1889.

O teatro foi reinaugurado, com o nome de Teatro Planetário, em janeiro de 1996, com o espetáculo "Amores" de Domingos de Oliveira.Em 2001 o teatro passou a se chamar Teatro Maria Clara Machado em homenagem a esta importante personalidade do teatro brasileiro.
Maria Clara Machado - A segunda de cinco irmãs, a teatróloga Maria Clara Machado cresceu em uma ampla casa no bairro de Ipanema no Rio, em meios a figuras como Pagu, Oswald de Andrade e Di Cavalcanti, amigos de seu pai, e o escritor Aníbal Machado. Ela sempre viveu contradições familiares, o pai era comunista e as filhas educadas em colégios de freiras. Aos 19 anos de idade, Maria Clara decidiu morar em Paris. Voltou apaixonada pelo teatro e com várias idéias de textos na cabeça. Logo montou, com amigos, o Tablado, companhia que revolucionou o teatro infantil e formou dezenas de atores e atrizes.
