The Broadway Theatre is a legitimate Broadway theatre located at 1681 Broadway in midtown-Manhattan. Designed by architect Eugene DeRosa for Benjamin S. Moss, it opened as B.S. Moss's Colony Theatre on Christmas Day 1924 as a venue for vaudeville shows and motion pictures. It was re-named Universal's Colony Theatre, B.S. Moss' Broadway Theatre, and Earl Carroll's Broadway Theatre before becoming a legitimate house simply called Broadway Theatre on December 8, 1930 . (In 1937, known as Ciné Roma, it showed Italian films). The Shuberts bought it in 1939. It was renovated extensively in 1956 and 1986. The large stage (nearly sixty feet deep) and seating capacity (1761) have made it a popular theatre for musicals throughout the years. |

The Ethel Barrymore Theatre is a legitimate Broadway theatre located at 243 West 47th Street in midtown-Manhattan.
Designed by architect Herbert J. Krapp and constructed by the Shuberts, it opened on December 20, 1928 with The Kingdom of God, a play selected by leading lady Ethel Barrymore. Over the next dozen years she returned to star in The Love Duel (1929), Scarlett Sister Mary (1930), The School for Scandal (1931), and An International Incident (1940). It is the only surviving theatre of the many the Shuberts built for performers who were affiliated with them. It has been used continuously as a legitimate house, unlike many of the older theatres that have been used for a variety of purposes throughout the years. Source |

The Longacre Theatre is a Broadway theatre located at 220 West 48th Street in midtown Manhattan.
Designed by architect Henry B. Herts, it was named for Longacre Square, the original name for Times Square. The French neo-classical building was constructed by impresario Harry Frazee, better remembered as the owner of the Boston Red Sox who, needing money for his theatrical ventures, sold Babe Ruth's contract to the New York Yankees. A curse allegedly lingers on the theater as a result, and superstitious producers avoid it for fear they'll be backing a flop, as noted by William Golden in his seminal book The Season. Despite the rumor, a large number of performers who have appeared on stage here have taken home a Tony Award for their efforts. The Longacre's first show was a production of the William Hurlbut-Frances Whitehouse comedy Are You a Crook?, which opened on May 1, 1913. With the exception of its use as a television studio in the mid-1940s to early 1950s, the theatre has operated as a legitimate Broadway venue. Source |

The Broadhurst Theatre is a legitimate Broadway theatre located at 235 West 44th Street in midtown Manhattan.
It was designed by architect Herbert J. Krapp, one of the major theatre designers of the early 1900s. Built back-to-back with the Plymouth, it was meant to resemble the style of the neighboring Henry B. Herts-designed Shubert and Booth theaters, using less expensive brick and terra cotta materials on the facades. Like all of Krapp's work during this period, it features minimal ornamentation, a single balcony, wide space, and excellent sightlines. Unlike the Majestic Theatre, which has housed The Phantom of the Opera (musical) since 1988, the Broadhurst does not run parallel to the street, but rather the stage is perpendicular. Source |

O Teatro dos Grandes Atores, foi inaugurado em 1995, e é formado por duas salas, a Azul e a Vermelha, cada uma com 396 lugares. A sala Azul teve como primeiro espetáculo Apareceu a Margarida, estrelado por Marília Pêra. A sala vermelha iniciou sua programação com A Era do Rádio, dirigida e encenada por Sérgio Britto.

Um galpão da CEHAB-RJ deu lugar às artes. A mobilização da comunidade local garantiu a permanência do imóvel, sua transformação em teatro e seu funcionamento. A partir de 19 de julho de 1990, o espaço passou a ser administrado pela Funarj.
Seu patrono teve uma vida marcada pela atuação política em favor de sua categoria. Mário Lago nasceu no Rio de Janeiro, em 26 de novembro de 1911. Aos 15 anos teve seu primeiro poema publicado na imprensa carioca. Formado em Direito, praticamente não exerceu a profissão, preferindo escrever textos para o teatro de revista. Nos anos 40, se tornou um dos mais renomados galãs do teatro de comédia brasileiro. Faleceu em 30 de maio de 2002. Em 26 de dezembro de 2006, o Governo do Estado o homenageou substituindo o antigo nome do teatro de Vila Kennedy, Faria Lima, pelo nome do artista. |

No âmbito teatral, as peças produzidas pela Casa da Gávea são levadas em turnês para as mais diferentes regiões do país, onde realizamos atividades paralelas a apresentação dos espetáculos, tais como cursos específicos e práticos sobre a atividade teatral.

The Imperial Theatre is a legitimate Broadway theatre located at 249 West 45th Street in midtown-Manhattan. The theatre seats up to 1417 people.
The Shubert Organization's fiftieth venue in New York City, it was constructed to replace their outdated Lyric Theatre. Designed by architect Herbert J. Krapp specifically to accommodate musical theatre productions, it opened on December 25, 1923 with the Oscar Hammerstein II-Vincent Youmans production Mary Jane McKane. Since then, it has hosted numerous important musicals, including Annie Get Your Gun (1946), Fiddler on the Roof (1964), Dreamgirls (1981), The Mystery of Edwin Drood (1985), and Les Miserables (1990), which played at the theatre until 2003. The Booth Theatre is a legitimate Broadway theatre located at 222 West 45th Street in midtown-Manhattan, New York City.
The venue was the second New York City theatre to bear this name. The first was built by Booth himself in 1869 on the corner of 23rd Street and 6th Avenue. The Booth Theatre appeared in the West Wing episode Posse Comitatus. It hosted a fictitous charity performance of War of the Roses which an equally fictitious President Bartlett attended while pondering the planned assassination of the Quamari Defence Minister. The Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre is a legitimate Broadway theatre located at 236 West 45th Street in midtown-Manhattan.
Designed by architect Herbert J. Krapp to resemble the neighboring Shubert and Booth theaters designed by Henry B. Herts, the building was constructed by the Shubert brothers in 1917-1918, christened the Plymouth Theatre, and leased to producer Arthur Hopkins. He intended it to be a venue for legitimate plays starring notable actors like John and Lionel Barrymore. The premiere production was A Successful Calamity, a comedy with William Gillette and Estelle Winwood. After Hopkins died in 1948, control of the theater returned to the Shuberts, who still own the property, which was designated a New York City landmark in 1987. The 1,080-seat house was renamed for Gerald Schoenfeld, chairman of the Shubert Organization, in 2005. Source |

The Palace Theatre is a legitimate Broadway theatre located at 1564 Broadway in midtown-Manhattan.
Designed by architects Kirchoff & Rose, the theatre, built by California vaudeville entrepreneur and Broadway impresario Martin Beck, experienced a number of problems before it opened. E. F. Albee, one of the main executives for B. F. Keith and his powerful vaudeville circuit, demanded that Beck turn over three-quarters of the stock in the theatre in order to use acts from the Keith circuit. In addition, Oscar Hammerstein was the only person who could offer Keith acts in that section of Broadway, so Beck paid him off with $225,000. The theatre finally opened on March 24, 1913 with headliner Ed Wynn. To "play the Palace" meant that an entertainer had reached the pinnacle of his career, and it became a popular venue with performers like Sarah Bernhardt, Eddie Cantor, Bob Hope, Fanny Brice, Sophie Tucker, George Jessel, and Jack Benny. The Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre is a legitimate Broadway theatre located at 242 West 45th Street in midtown-Manhattan.
Designed by architect Herbert J. Krapp, it opened as the Royale Theatre on January 11, 1927 with a musical entitled Piggy. John Golden leased and renamed the theatre for himself from 1932 to 1937, when the Shubert Organization assumed ownership and leased the theater to CBS Radio until 1940, when it was restored to its original use and name. On May 9, 2005, it was renamed for longtime Shubert Organization president Bernard B. Jacobs. Source |

O Teatro Raimundo Magalhães Junior, patrocinado pela Petrobrás e estabelecido no prédio da Academia Brasileira de Letras é um espaço de médio porte, aconchegante e confortável. É uma justa homenagem ao imortal cearense, jornalista, biógrafo e teatrólogo, eleito em 1956 para a cadeira nº 34 na sucessão de D. Aquino Corrêa. O Espaço apresenta além de peças teatrais, espetáculos de MPB muito concorridos.

Em outubro de 1954 foi inaugurado o Teatro Maria Della Costa, de propriedade da atriz Maria Della Costa e do empresário Sandro Polloni, que apresentaram como espetáculo de estréia "O Canto da Cotovia"de Jean Anouhil, sob a direção de Gianni Ratto.
24 anos depois, em 1978, a Apetesp - Associação dos Produtores de Espetáculos Teatrais do Estado de São Paulo - durante a gestão do então Presidente Raul Cortez, adquiriu o Teatro Maria Della Costa, com a finalidade específica de prestar maiores benefícios aos seus associados. 17 anos passados, em maio de 1995, o Teatro Maria Della Costa não tinha condições de funcionamento, devido ao estado precário em que se encontrava. Durante a gestão do então Presidente Sérgio D’Antino, o mesmo passou por uma reforma geral, que se estendeu até 1996, tendo sido re-inaugurado com uma grande festa para toda a classe artística no dia 30 de julho de 1996. |

A São Paulo das três primeiras décadas do Século XX estava em plena transformação, conduzida pela pujante economia cafeeira e pela industrialização. Novos comportamentos, diferentes hábitos, outras influências culturais e políticas geravam os componentes que fariam da capital paulista uma referência social para o País e seu grande centro econômico. A cena cultural de São Paulo tornava-se mais rica, apesar de o Brasil sofrer as conseqüências da guerra na qual a Europa estava mergulhada e ainda que a própria cidade vivesse um período tumultuado em função das freqüentes greves de trabalhadores, então em fase de organização.

Em 18 de agosto de 1956, na capital federal, sendo presidente da República Juscelino Kubitschek (1902-1976), era inaugurado o Teatro Arthur Azevedo, pelo embaixador Francisco Negrão de Lima (1901-1981), então prefeito do Distrito Federal. Homenagem ao jornalista e escritor que no final do século XIX, dominou o cenário teatral do país. Arthur Azevedo (1855-1908) consolidou o gênero comédia de costumes da sociedade brasileira do final da monarquia e início da república, foi também um dos responsáveis pela construção do Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro, inaugurado logo após sua morte em 22 de outubro de 1908.

Sua versatilidade para encenar gêneros de espetáculos dos mais variadas – óperas, tragédias, concertos, comédias, shows musicais -, o tornam um dos mais conhecidos e respeitados espaços cênicos do país.
Em seu palco atuaram, respectivamente, em 25 de junho de 1885 e em 6 de janeiro de 1886, duas grandes atrizes Eleonora Duse e Sarah Bernhard. Durante décadas, o Teatro João Caetano confirmou sua vocação para projetos populares, a exemplo do Seis & Meia. Krapp, it was built for the Shuberts as part of a theatre-hotel complex named for 19th century tragedian Edwin Forrest. It opened on November 24, 1925 with the musical Mayflowers as its premiere production. It was renamed the Coronet in 1945 and rechristened the O'Neill in honor of the renowned American playwright in 1959 by then owner Lester Osterman. It later was purchased by playwright Neil Simon, who sold it to Jujamcyn Theatres in 1982. |

Até 1952, o Dulcina era conhecido pelo nome de Teatro Regina (1935 a 1952) - uma iniciativa do Sr. Vivaldi Leite Ribeiro, responsável também pela construção do Edifício Regina - prédio de 17 andares na Rua Alcindo Guanabara, na Cinelândia.

The Manhattan Opera house quickly became an alternative venue for many great operas and celebrated singers to make their debut. |
