Em 8 de março de 1979, era inaugurado o teatro Villa-Lobos, com a presença do governador do Estado, Floriano Faria Lima e Adolpho Bloch (1908-1995), então presidente da Funarj. Com três unidades cênicas – o teatro e duas salas Monteiro Lobato (Espaço II) e Arnaldo Niskier (Espaço III) –, preserva a característica de receber espetáculos inéditos e trabalhos experimentais nos espaços anexos.
A escolha do nome para o teatro foi uma homenagem ao maestro Heitor Villa-Lobos, um dos maiores compositores brasileiros, autor de mais de mil músicas. Compôs peças de vários gêneros - concertos, sinfonias, suítes, quartetos de cordas, sonatas, arranjos para coro, peças para pequenos conjuntos e grande orquestra. Com maestria conseguiu mesclar o folclore brasileiro com a música de concerto européia.

The Vivian Beaumont Theater is a theater in New York City in the United States. It is located at Lincoln Center, 150 W. 65th Street, on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. It was designed by the renowned Finnish American architect Eero Saarinen. Although it was built for the presentation of plays such as those produced on Broadway, it differs from traditional Broadway theaters because of its amphitheater configuration and thrust stage. The building includes two auditoriums, the 1,080-seat Vivian Beaumont Theater and the 299-seat Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater (called The Forum until 1973). The Beaumont is considered a fairly large theater for dramatic plays and a medium-size theater for musicals. The Imperial Theatre is a legitimate Broadway theatre located at 249 West 45th Street in midtown-Manhattan. The theatre seats up to 1417 people.
The Shubert Organization's fiftieth venue in New York City, it was constructed to replace their outdated Lyric Theatre. Designed by architect Herbert J. Krapp specifically to accommodate musical theatre productions, it opened on December 25, 1923 with the Oscar Hammerstein II-Vincent Youmans production Mary Jane McKane. Since then, it has hosted numerous important musicals, including Annie Get Your Gun (1946), Fiddler on the Roof (1964), Dreamgirls (1981), The Mystery of Edwin Drood (1985), and Les Miserables (1990), which played at the theatre until 2003. No dia 10 de janeiro de 2013, o Maison de France será palco para A Arte da Comédia, um dos mais importantes textos do ator, diretor e dramaturgo italiano, Eduardo de Filippo. No espetáculo Ricardo Blat, Thelmo Fernandes e grande elenco mostram o quanto as artes cênicas fazem parte do dia a dia de todos, além de questionarem a relação entre autoridades e artistas. Como bem define o diretor Sergio Módena, “A Arte da Comédia é antes de tudo uma celebração ao teatro e ao ofício do ator. Na peça, o autor, através de uma linguagem popular e, por muitas vezes irônica, demonstra o extremo poder da arte em nossas vidas. Em sua concepção, o teatro pode ser uma grande brincadeira, pode ser político, revolucionário, mas sempre vital à nossa sociedade.” Apesar de um clássico, o texto será encenado no Rio de Janeiro pela primeira vez. Desde sua inauguração, ao inicio dos anos 50, o Teatro Maison de France foi palco dos principais acontecimentos teatrais cariocas e marcou para sempre a vida cultural da cidade.
Em junho de 1985, infelizmente, o teatro fechou suas portas, depois da temporada da peça “A Amante Inglesa” com Paulo Autran e Tônia Carreiro. Esse fechamento foi motivado por razões de segurança, particularmente pelas normas anti-incêndio que estavam obsoletas.
Inaugurado no dia 1 de fevereiro de 2002 pelo Ministro Francês da Francofonia e da Cooperação, o Teatro Maison de France passou a oferecer uma programação variada, com espetáculos de teatro, dança, música, concertos, sessões de cinema, seminários etc...
O teatro também está disponível para empresas que desejam alugar o espaço para reuniões corporativas e seminários profissionais. Por este fim, ele foi dotado de equipamentos de som e luz de última geração.
Depois dessa brilhante reinauguração, o Teatro Maison de France pode se orgulhar de ter acolido espétaculos de prestigios com todos os grandes nomes da dança (Ana Botafogo), da canção (Bibi Ferreira), da opéra ( Barbara Hendricks) e claro do teatro ( Irene Ravache, Marcos Caruso, Natalia Timberg, Pedro Paulo Rangel, Camilla Pitanga ....)

The magnificent St. George Theatre shines once again and serves Staten Island and all of New York. By polishing this treasured jewel, the integrity of its' unique structure will be maintained and a major boost will be given to the revitalization efforts of this North Shore community. It serves as a cultural arts center for a myriad of activities including outreach educational programs, architectural tours, television and film shoots, concerts, comedy, Broadway touring companies, children's shows and many local community events and performances.

Em 18 de agosto de 1956, na capital federal, sendo presidente da República Juscelino Kubitschek (1902-1976), era inaugurado o Teatro Arthur Azevedo, pelo embaixador Francisco Negrão de Lima (1901-1981), então prefeito do Distrito Federal. Homenagem ao jornalista e escritor que no final do século XIX, dominou o cenário teatral do país. Arthur Azevedo (1855-1908) consolidou o gênero comédia de costumes da sociedade brasileira do final da monarquia e início da república, foi também um dos responsáveis pela construção do Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro, inaugurado logo após sua morte em 22 de outubro de 1908.

Considerado um dos grandes nomes do teatro brasileiro, Procópio Ferreira, nome artístico de João Álvaro de Jesus Quental Ferreira, nasceu em 1898, no Rio de Janeiro, onde estudou na Escola Dramática. Foi ator, diretor de teatro e dramaturgo. Desde cedo, Procópio descobriu seu talento de envolver a plateia, arrastando aos seus espetáculos contingentes de público de fazer inveja aos maiores sucessos de hoje.

Em 1963 foi inaugurado o Teatro Ruth Escobar, de propriedade da atriz Ruth Escobar, que, graças ao apoio obtido junto à colônia portuguesa, conseguiu levantar um admirável complexo arquitetônico, voltado para a realização de atividades culturais de todas as espécies.
A montagem de estréia foi "A Ópera dos Três Vinténs", de Bertolt Brecht, sob a direção de José Renato, configurando, desde o início, o caráter revolucionário desta casa de espetáculos.

O Teatro Poeira, de propriedade das atrizes Marieta Severo e Andréa Beltrão, pretende ocupar no pequeno e aconchegante espaço, não só preencher a lacuna deixada, desde o fechamento no início dos anos 70, do saudoso Poeira de Ipanema, mas, cumprir seu destino de abrir uma porta para o mundo incluindo todos os personagens, todos os lugares, todas as idéias e todos os sentimentos. É só o começo de uma caminhada.

Um galpão da CEHAB-RJ deu lugar às artes. A mobilização da comunidade local garantiu a permanência do imóvel, sua transformação em teatro e seu funcionamento. A partir de 19 de julho de 1990, o espaço passou a ser administrado pela Funarj.
Seu patrono teve uma vida marcada pela atuação política em favor de sua categoria. Mário Lago nasceu no Rio de Janeiro, em 26 de novembro de 1911. Aos 15 anos teve seu primeiro poema publicado na imprensa carioca. Formado em Direito, praticamente não exerceu a profissão, preferindo escrever textos para o teatro de revista.
Nos anos 40, se tornou um dos mais renomados galãs do teatro de comédia brasileiro. Faleceu em 30 de maio de 2002. Em 26 de dezembro de 2006, o Governo do Estado o homenageou substituindo o antigo nome do teatro de Vila Kennedy, Faria Lima, pelo nome do artista.

The Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre is a legitimate Broadway theatre located at 242 West 45th Street in midtown-Manhattan.
Designed by architect Herbert J. Krapp, it opened as the Royale Theatre on January 11, 1927 with a musical entitled Piggy. John Golden leased and renamed the theatre for himself from 1932 to 1937, when the Shubert Organization assumed ownership and leased the theater to CBS Radio until 1940, when it was restored to its original use and name. On May 9, 2005, it was renamed for longtime Shubert Organization president Bernard B. Jacobs. Source

The Music Box Theater is a legitimate Broadway theatre located at 239 West 45th Street in midtown-Manhattan.
The most aptly named theater on Broadway, the intimate Music Box was designed by architect C. Howard Crane and constructed by composer Irving Berlin and producer Sam H. Harris specifically to house Berlin's famed Music Box Revues. It opened in 1921 and hosted a new musical production every year until 1925, when it presented its first play, Cradle Snatchers, starring Humphrey Bogart. The following year, Chicago, the Maurine Dallas Watkins play that served as the basis for the hit musical, opened here. It housed a string of hits for the playwriting team of George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart, from their first collaboration Once in a Lifetime to their smash hit The Man Who Came to Dinner. Cole Porter and George and Ira Gershwin also presented shows here. Source

The Ambassador Theatre is a legitimate Broadway theatre located at 219 West 49th Street in midtown-Manhattan.
Designed by architect Herbert J. Krapp for the Shuberts, the structure is unusual in that it is situated diagonally on its site to fit the maximum number of seats possible. Its external appearance, indistinguishable from many other Broadway houses, does not hint at the strange layout within. The building has been designated a New York City landmark.
The theatre opened on February 11, 1921 with the musical The Rose Girl. The Shuberts sold the property in 1935, and for the next two decades it was used as a movie theater and television studio for NBC and the DuMont Television Network. In 1956 the Shuberts assumed ownership again and returned it to strictly legitimate use. Source

The Broadhurst Theatre is a legitimate Broadway theatre located at 235 West 44th Street in midtown Manhattan.
It was designed by architect Herbert J. Krapp, one of the major theatre designers of the early 1900s. Built back-to-back with the Plymouth, it was meant to resemble the style of the neighboring Henry B. Herts-designed Shubert and Booth theaters, using less expensive brick and terra cotta materials on the facades. Like all of Krapp's work during this period, it features minimal ornamentation, a single balcony, wide space, and excellent sightlines. Unlike the Majestic Theatre, which has housed The Phantom of the Opera (musical) since 1988, the Broadhurst does not run parallel to the street, but rather the stage is perpendicular. Source

The venue was the second New York City theatre to bear this name. The first was built by Booth himself in 1869 on the corner of 23rd Street and 6th Avenue.
The Booth Theatre appeared in the West Wing episode Posse Comitatus. It hosted a fictitous charity performance of War of the Roses which an equally fictitious President Bartlett attended while pondering the planned assassination of the Quamari Defence Minister. Source
