O Centro Cultural do Banco do Brasil (CCBB) do Rio de Janeiro é um dos quatro CCBBs do país, que também existem nas capitais Brasília, São Paulo e Belo Horizonte. Os Centros são espaços multidisciplinares com programação regular (seis dias por semana), nas áreas de artes cênicas, cinema, exposição, ideias (palestras, debates, seminários etc), música e programa educativo. O CCBB oferece ao público uma programação cultural que é referência no Rio de Janeiro e no Brasil. Com projetos nas mais diversas áreas, o Centro tem um volume de freqüentadores comparável ao de outras grandes instituições culturais do mundo.
Nos vários campos da arte, a programação procura oferecer obras que vão do clássico ao experimental, do erudito ao popular, dos grandes mestres aos talentos iniciantes. Esses critérios de seleção permitem ao CCBB alcançar freqüentadores com os mais abrangentes níveis de interesse. Instalado no número 66 da Rua Primeiro de Março, o Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil é uma das jóias arquitetônicas da Cidade. Seus espaços, organizados e adornados com elementos neoclássicos, abrigam três teatros, sala de cinema, sala de vídeo, cinco salas de exposições, biblioteca com 140 mil títulos, museu e arquivo histórico, videoteca e salão para conferências e palestras. The Broadhurst Theatre is a legitimate Broadway theatre located at 235 West 44th Street in midtown Manhattan.
It was designed by architect Herbert J. Krapp, one of the major theatre designers of the early 1900s. Built back-to-back with the Plymouth, it was meant to resemble the style of the neighboring Henry B. Herts-designed Shubert and Booth theaters, using less expensive brick and terra cotta materials on the facades. Like all of Krapp's work during this period, it features minimal ornamentation, a single balcony, wide space, and excellent sightlines. Unlike the Majestic Theatre, which has housed The Phantom of the Opera (musical) since 1988, the Broadhurst does not run parallel to the street, but rather the stage is perpendicular. Source

Estréia 10 de Janeiro: A Arte da Comédia - Para começar o ano rindo... e pensando. Ricardo Blat e Thelmo Fernandes fazem uma defesa leve, divertida e apaixonada do teatro, no inédito “A Arte da Comédia”, de Eduardo de Filippo
No dia 10 de janeiro de 2013, o Maison de France será palco para A Arte da Comédia, um dos mais importantes textos do ator, diretor e dramaturgo italiano, Eduardo de Filippo. No espetáculo Ricardo Blat, Thelmo Fernandes e grande elenco mostram o quanto as artes cênicas fazem parte do dia a dia de todos, além de questionarem a relação entre autoridades e artistas. Como bem define o diretor Sergio Módena, “A Arte da Comédia é antes de tudo uma celebração ao teatro e ao ofício do ator. Na peça, o autor, através de uma linguagem popular e, por muitas vezes irônica, demonstra o extremo poder da arte em nossas vidas. Em sua concepção, o teatro pode ser uma grande brincadeira, pode ser político, revolucionário, mas sempre vital à nossa sociedade.” Apesar de um clássico, o texto será encenado no Rio de Janeiro pela primeira vez. Desde sua inauguração, ao inicio dos anos 50, o Teatro Maison de France foi palco dos principais acontecimentos teatrais cariocas e marcou para sempre a vida cultural da cidade.
Em junho de 1985, infelizmente, o teatro fechou suas portas, depois da temporada da peça “A Amante Inglesa” com Paulo Autran e Tônia Carreiro. Esse fechamento foi motivado por razões de segurança, particularmente pelas normas anti-incêndio que estavam obsoletas.
Inaugurado no dia 1 de fevereiro de 2002 pelo Ministro Francês da Francofonia e da Cooperação, o Teatro Maison de France passou a oferecer uma programação variada, com espetáculos de teatro, dança, música, concertos, sessões de cinema, seminários etc...
O teatro também está disponível para empresas que desejam alugar o espaço para reuniões corporativas e seminários profissionais. Por este fim, ele foi dotado de equipamentos de som e luz de última geração.
Depois dessa brilhante reinauguração, o Teatro Maison de France pode se orgulhar de ter acolido espétaculos de prestigios com todos os grandes nomes da dança (Ana Botafogo), da canção (Bibi Ferreira), da opéra ( Barbara Hendricks) e claro do teatro ( Irene Ravache, Marcos Caruso, Natalia Timberg, Pedro Paulo Rangel, Camilla Pitanga ....)

Um galpão da CEHAB-RJ deu lugar às artes. A mobilização da comunidade local garantiu a permanência do imóvel, sua transformação em teatro e seu funcionamento. A partir de 19 de julho de 1990, o espaço passou a ser administrado pela Funarj.
Seu patrono teve uma vida marcada pela atuação política em favor de sua categoria. Mário Lago nasceu no Rio de Janeiro, em 26 de novembro de 1911. Aos 15 anos teve seu primeiro poema publicado na imprensa carioca. Formado em Direito, praticamente não exerceu a profissão, preferindo escrever textos para o teatro de revista.
Nos anos 40, se tornou um dos mais renomados galãs do teatro de comédia brasileiro. Faleceu em 30 de maio de 2002. Em 26 de dezembro de 2006, o Governo do Estado o homenageou substituindo o antigo nome do teatro de Vila Kennedy, Faria Lima, pelo nome do artista.

O antigo prédio do Supremo Tribunal Federal foi reaberto no dia 4 de abril de 2001 como Centro Cultural Justiça Federal. O processo de restauração respeitou as características históricas da construção, conforme orientação do IPHAN. O patrocínio foi da Caixa Econômica Federal e a coordenação do restauro esteve a cargo do Instituto Herbert Levy, com apoio do Tribunal Regional Federal da 2ª Região. A obra dotou o edifício de uma vasta e moderna infra-estrutura predial em termos de refrigeração, instalações elétricas, telefonia, sistema hidráulico etc. Atualmente, o CCJF dispõe de 14 amplas salas de exposições, teatro, biblioteca, lojinha e cafeteria. Há ainda uma sala destinada à instalação de um cinema.

As mais novas salas da rede Teatros Art foram inauguradas em janeiro de 2009 e estão situado num dos shopping mais charmosos do Rio do Janeiro - o São Conrado Fashion Mall.
São mais 780 poltronas dispostas em 2 salas: uma de 490 lugares e a outra com 280, prontas para receberem os melhores espetáculos que circulam pela cidade, além de diversos eventos empresariais e culturais.

A permanent home has long been a dream for the Roundabout Theatre Company. Since its establishment in 1965, Roundabout had moved from location to location, always searching for the next stop in what seemed to be a never-ending journey for permanency. From West 26th Street to West 23rd Street, from East 17th Street at Union Square then on to the Criterion Center, Roundabout seemed destined to live up to its name far too literally. All that changed in 1997, when The New 42nd Street Development project, backed by the City and State of New York, offered the historic Selwyn Theatre to Roundabout.

2013 Winter/Spring Season. Based on The Suit by Can Themba, Mothobi Mutloatse, and Barney Simon Direction, adaptation, and music by Peter Brook, Marie-Hélène Estienne, and Franck Krawczyk The renowned Peter Brook—whose 1987 production of The Mahabharata inaugurated the BAM Majestic Theater (now the BAM Harvey Theater)—returns with a music-filled adaptation of South African writer Can Themba’s piercing tale of simmering resentment and tragedy, The Suit. A wife caught in the act, her lover fleeing the scene, a suit left behind. It’s the perfect recipe for a husband’s punishing, humiliating decree: go on with business as usual, he says to his spouse, but take your lover’s suit everywhere you go as a ghostly reminder of your betrayal. Using an innovative staging that integrates live musicians directly into the action, Brook makes Themba’s volatile work sing. A hummed “Strange Fruit,” African melodies, and Schubert lieder thicken the tense, poisoned air of this apartheid-era summer in which a shared wound was not allowed to heal.
Dating from its first performance in 1861, BAM has grown into a thriving urban arts center that brings international performing arts and film to Brooklyn. The first BAM facility at 176-194 Montague Street in Brooklyn Heights was originally conceived by the Philharmonic Society of Brooklyn as a home for its concerts. It housed a large theater seating 2,200, a smaller concert hall, dressing and chorus rooms, and a vast "baronial" kitchen. BAM presented both amateur and professional music and theater productions. Performers included Ellen Terry, Edwin Booth, Tomas Salvini, and Fritz Kreisler.

One of the largest natural amphitheaters in the world, with a current seating capacity of just under 18,000, the Hollywood Bowl has been the summer home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic since its official opening in 1922, and, in 1991 gave its name to a resident ensemble that has filled a special niche in the musical life of Southern California, the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra.

The Palace Theatre is a legitimate Broadway theatre located at 1564 Broadway in midtown-Manhattan.
Designed by architects Kirchoff & Rose, the theatre, built by California vaudeville entrepreneur and Broadway impresario Martin Beck, experienced a number of problems before it opened. E. F. Albee, one of the main executives for B. F. Keith and his powerful vaudeville circuit, demanded that Beck turn over three-quarters of the stock in the theatre in order to use acts from the Keith circuit. In addition, Oscar Hammerstein was the only person who could offer Keith acts in that section of Broadway, so Beck paid him off with $225,000. The theatre finally opened on March 24, 1913 with headliner Ed Wynn. To "play the Palace" meant that an entertainer had reached the pinnacle of his career, and it became a popular venue with performers like Sarah Bernhardt, Eddie Cantor, Bob Hope, Fanny Brice, Sophie Tucker, George Jessel, and Jack Benny. O Teatro Municipal João Caetano foi reinaugurado em 1995, após uma profunda restauração. O projeto de recuperação encarou um grande desafio que era respeitar os aspectos históricos e ao mesmo tempo dotá-lo de modernidade. Ao longo de sua história, o teatro sofreu sucessivas obras de reformas que foram alterando a forma original do prédio, adaptando espaços e desfigurando seus seus núcleos históricos, dando origem a um prédio com características de diferentes épocas. No entanto, a fachada manteve as linhas arquitetônicas neoclássicas da reforma de 1888 e 1889.

Built at a cost of $94 million, Kodak Theatre was designed by the internationally-renowned Rockwell Group to be as glamorous as its onstage artists and celebrity guests, yet capable of serving the enormous technical needs of a live worldwide television broadcast on Oscar® night. The naming of Kodak Theatre, in a 20-year marketing partnership with Eastman Kodak Co., was one of the most significant non-sports corporate sponsorships in history. Kodak’s prominence and long-standing connection to the film industry in Hollywood made the relationship a natural. In fact, for the 78th consecutive year, ever since the inception of the Academy Awards, Best Picture was produced on Kodak film.

O Teatro Nair Bello tem capacidade para 240 pessoas, foi inaugurado em 2007 e funciona junto com a Escola de Atores Wolf Maya, do famoso diretor de novelas e minisséries. O nome do espaço é uma homenagem à grande atriz e amiga do diretor. Está em localização privilegiada dentro do Shopping Frei Caneca e já foi palco de diversas peças de sucesso.

The Cort Theatre is a legitimate Broadway theatre located at 138 West 48th Street in midtown-Manhattan. The Shuberts purchased the theatre in 1927.
Designed by Thomas W. Lamb, its facade was modeled after the Petit Trianon at Versailles, while architecture from the period of Louis XVI inspired the interior. The building was constructed by and named for former vaudevillean John Cort, general manager of the Northwestern Theatrical Association.
It opened on December 20, 1912 with Laurette Taylor starring in the play Peg o' My Heart, which ran for 603 performance, an auspicious start for the new venue. Numerous famous British actors have appeared at the Cort: Basil Rathbone played Dr. Nicholas Agi in The Swan in October 1923, and in April 1927 appeared as Vladimir Dubriski in Love is Like That. In October 1924 Henry Daniell appeared as Aubrey Tanqueray in The Second Mrs Tanqueray, was there again in August 1943 in Murder Without Crime, and in January 1946 appeared as Leontes in The Winter's Tale.

The Barrymore Theatre (originally The Eastwood) was built in 1929 as the third movie theater erected in Madison, Wisconsin. It sustained itself as a neighborhood movie theater until the late 70's. The theater was briefly vacant in the early 80's and was renovated into a live events theatre in 1987. That is when it took up it's present name, and began the transformation into what it is today. Em 18 de agosto de 1956, na capital federal, sendo presidente da República Juscelino Kubitschek (1902-1976), era inaugurado o Teatro Arthur Azevedo, pelo embaixador Francisco Negrão de Lima (1901-1981), então prefeito do Distrito Federal. Homenagem ao jornalista e escritor que no final do século XIX, dominou o cenário teatral do país. Arthur Azevedo (1855-1908) consolidou o gênero comédia de costumes da sociedade brasileira do final da monarquia e início da república, foi também um dos responsáveis pela construção do Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro, inaugurado logo após sua morte em 22 de outubro de 1908.

The Longacre Theatre is a Broadway theatre located at 220 West 48th Street in midtown Manhattan.
Designed by architect Henry B. Herts, it was named for Longacre Square, the original name for Times Square. The French neo-classical building was constructed by impresario Harry Frazee, better remembered as the owner of the Boston Red Sox who, needing money for his theatrical ventures, sold Babe Ruth's contract to the New York Yankees. A curse allegedly lingers on the theater as a result, and superstitious producers avoid it for fear they'll be backing a flop, as noted by William Golden in his seminal book The Season. Despite the rumor, a large number of performers who have appeared on stage here have taken home a Tony Award for their efforts.
The Longacre's first show was a production of the William Hurlbut-Frances Whitehouse comedy Are You a Crook?, which opened on May 1, 1913. With the exception of its use as a television studio in the mid-1940s to early 1950s, the theatre has operated as a legitimate Broadway venue. Source

Com 800 m2 de área construída, além do teatro, o Solar de Botafogo abriga um segundo espaço cênico, sala para ensaios e leituras, galeria de arte, café concerto com cyber lounge – EFFE Café, auditório para projeção de vídeos e filmes de arte.

The Ethel Barrymore Theatre is a legitimate Broadway theatre located at 243 West 47th Street in midtown-Manhattan.
Designed by architect Herbert J. Krapp and constructed by the Shuberts, it opened on December 20, 1928 with The Kingdom of God, a play selected by leading lady Ethel Barrymore. Over the next dozen years she returned to star in The Love Duel (1929), Scarlett Sister Mary (1930), The School for Scandal (1931), and An International Incident (1940).
It is the only surviving theatre of the many the Shuberts built for performers who were affiliated with them. It has been used continuously as a legitimate house, unlike many of the older theatres that have been used for a variety of purposes throughout the years. Source

The St. James Theatre is located at 246 W. 44th St. Broadway, New York City, New York. It was built by Abraham L. Erlanger, theatrical producer and a founding member of the Theatrical Syndicate, on the site of the original Sardi's restaurant. It opened in 1927 as The Erlanger. Upon Erlanger's death in 1930, control of the venue was taken over by the Astor family, who owned the land on which the theatre stood. The Astors renamed it the St. James Theatre.
The theatre was purchased by the Shuberts in the late 1930s. They were forced to sell it to the William L. McKnight in 1957 following the loss of an antitrust case. McKnight renovated the St. James and reopened it in 1958. In 1970, McKnight then transferred the theatre to his daughter Virginia and her husband James H. Binger, who had formed the Jujamcyn Amusement Corporation. Source
