December 31 - The New Year's event is special because it brings people together in a positive, interactive way - a way that combines the arts with the concept of responsible celebrating. Each of the past 14 years as many as 20,000 people of all ages - teens, singles, families, children and grandparents filled the streets of historic Annapolis enjoying an alcohol-free and drug-free celebration.

October - Nevada became a state (admitted to the Union) October 31, 1864, so Nevada Day is October 31st.of each year. However, with the passage of AB396 by the 1997 Nevada State Legislature, Nevada voters, on November 3, 1998 advised the 1999 legislature they wanted to celebrate Nevada Day on the "last" Friday in October beginning in 2000. The legislature, after much heated debate, complied.
Nevada Day is presently a state holiday recognized on the last Friday in October with the parade on the Saturday following.

The Annual Feast of San Gennaro, New York City's oldest, biggest and best street festival. Presented annually since 1996 by Figli di San Gennaro, Inc., a not-for-profit organization, this year?s Feast will again bring more than 1 million people to the streets of Little Italy in the annual salute to the Patron Saint of Naples. The street festivities including parades, entertainment, food stands and a cannoli-eating contest are capped on September 19th with a celebratory Mass and candlelit procession as the Statue of the Saint is carried from its permanent home in Most Precious Blood Church on Mulberry Street.

Ten days in mid-Sept Boisterous event in honor of the patron saint of Naples, held along Mulberry St. The saint's statue is carried through the streets with donations of dollar bills pinned to his cloak.

October - The Dungeness Crab & Seafood Festival is the annual celebration of the region's diverse bounty - the seafood, the maritime and cultural traditions and the breathtaking coastal environment. The festival's featured crustacean, the Dungeness Crab, was named after the village of Dungeness (near Port Angeles ), Washington . The Festival is located at the Port Angeles City Pier and the Red Lion Hotel overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca, with Victoria , B.C. just a ferry ride away.

The Holidazzle is a huge holiday extravaganza. The 30-minute parade winds down Nicollet Mall each night starting the Friday after Thanksgiving. It starts on 12th Street and runs along the mall to 5th Street. Parade-goers are greeted by storybook characters, lighted floats, musical groups, marching bands and other surprises. Of course, Santa Claus and his brightly lit sleigh anchor this winter celebration.

July-August. Caribbean-style carnival with parties, music and parade.

February. Snow and ice sculptures, canoe races on the frozen St. Lawrence, Queen's Ball, parades.

The Calgary International Film Festival Society was established in 1999 as a non-profit organization providing an annual world-class cinema event for the citizens of Calgary and area. We aim to showcase the best of national and international film to Calgary audiences. The Festival has brought numerous Canadian film premieres and world caliber filmmakers to our city. The Vancouver International Comedy Festival Society is a non-profit society dedicated to the development of local comedic arts. The society strives to bring awareness, support and funds to BC comedic performers and provides emerging local comics with the audiences needed to develop their skills. The not-for-profit society is entering its 20th year and within the last three has been developing a clearer mandate and activities to become a stronger community voice for comedic arts and local talent.

- Has been in existence since 1989. What was initially a three-day festival is now a nine-day event.
- Festival attendance in 2005: 27,500
- Audience: approximately 50/50 males vs. females; ethnically diverse; majority of patrons range in age from 35 to 60 years, but youth do attend; proven consumers of media arts
