Kcdc Skate Shop, United States
  90 N 11th St - Brooklyn, NY
Williamsburg wasn’t always the super hip neighborhood it is today—it’s gone through some drastic changes in the last several years. Skateboarding isn’t one of those changes. People have been building skatespots in abandoned buildings, under highway overpasses and in vacant lots for years. KCDC is a new shop helping an old scene grow. KCDC opened somewhat off the beaten path of the neighborhood, in the fall of 2001 In addition to the shop, KCDC has gallery space and houses a mini-ramp. Art openings, video premieres, and other parties are held regularly in the space. These events help promote up and coming artists and companies in the skate industry. We’e accessible to all kinds of skaters. It doesn’t matter if you are young, old, male, female, beginner, lifer, pool, street, vert, downhill, slalom, tech, or hesh. We carry all varieties of skate gear, including fashions from local designers. KCDC doesn’t exist to give off heavy vibes; we just want to keep skating positive and keep people skating.

11161 W. Pico Blvd. - West LA - Los Angeles, CA
"Adventure 16 has a reputation as one of the best outdoor outfitters in the United States. Our dedication to providing Customers with the finest products, first hand and accurate information, and plenty of inspiration, has guided us since our origin in 1962.
Adventure 16 began as a goal of some young Explorer Scouts whose leaders were involved in river running in the early 60s. Together, they set out to make 16mm adventure films for a lecture series. In the process, their passion turned to making backpacks. A garage in La Mesa, California became a workshop to develop a revolutionary pack design that allowed much of the pack's weight to be carried comfortably on the hips. By the late 60's the hobby had become a business. The entrepreneurial leaders were busy inventing and selling innovative, top-of-the-line products, including the first two-layer dome tent specifically engineered for backpackers needs."

Lacoste is a French apparel company founded in 1912 that sells high-end clothing, footwear, perfume, leather goods, watches, eyewear, and most famously, tennis shirts. The company can be recognized by its green nan crocodile logo. Lacoste has the reputation of being culturally preppy, especially in the United States.
René Lacoste was a famous French tennis player who achieved fame in two areas: tennis and fashion. While winning the 1926 U.S. Open championship, Rene Lacoste of France wore something that he himself had created: a white, short-sleeve shirt made exclusively of a light knitted fabric called ‘jersey petit piqué’ that served to wick away moisture due to heat, the very first version of performance clothing in sports. The shirt was a radical departure from tennis fashion of the day, which called for stiff, woven, long-sleeve oxfords. In 1927 during the Davis Cup, the American press nicknamed Lacoste "the Alligator" because of a bet made about an alligator-skin suitcase. With no cognate in his native tongue, the nickname was changed to le crocodile in French. The nickname stuck due to his tenacious behavior on the courts, never giving up his prey. Lacoste’s friend, Robert Georges, drew him a crocodile which Lacoste then embroidered on the blazer he wore on the courts. Source
