Are you interested in a quirky change to the standard museum experience? The Staten Island Museum is a small but very fun museum located just two blocks west of the Staten Island Ferry Terminal. The Staten Island Museum has a fun selection of exhibits that document the art, natural science and history that surrounds Staten Island. One great experience includes taking a look at the geological display that allows visitors to gaze through special microscopes that show the intricate designs within the local soil. Another fun fact is that the museum offers a wall of mounted butterflies and wildlife which is larger than any other display on Staten Island. The DOCKYARD MUSEUM in the Naval Officer's House interprets the story of English Harbour and of the people that toiled in this famous Georgian Royal Naval Yard. It also explains the 20th century return of sailing ships and the aims and aspirations of Nelson's Dockyard National Park. There is also a small "Nelson's Room" with a life sized portrait of Nelson researched through archaeological means.

A visit of the entire facility lasts an average of 90 minutes."

Ground Zero Museum Workshop is the only museum of its kind in New York. You won't see images like these anywhere in the world. The museum also features lifelike "3-D Installations" that place viewers right into the "hole" at Ground Zero. We allow certain items/artifacts to be picked up and handled. This is allowed so visitors have a more interactive experience with the hopes of having a greater understanding of what took place during the Recovery. For example, visitors will be able to pick up WTC window glass and steel. Observing the weight and density of such items helps one to have a better understanding of the size and mass of the towers. Some remnants are on temporary loan from Ground Zero recovery workers and firemen. There are no "victim's identifiable personal belongings" in this museum; only remnants from September 11.

The International Wildlife Museum is dedicated to increasing knowledge and appreciation of the diverse wildlife of the world as well as explaining the role of wildlife management in conservation.
Founded in 1988, the museum highlights over 400 species of insects, mammals and birds from around the globe. Some of the collections are more than 100 years old and all the animals found at the museum were donated by various government agencies, wildlife rehabilitation centers, captive breeding programs, zoos and individuals.

USS Bowfin Submarine Museum & Park's mission is to restore and preserve the World War II submarine USS Bowfin (SS-287), and submarine-related artifacts on our grounds and in the Museum. Bowfin Park's parent organization, the Pacific Fleet Submarine Memorial Association (PFSMA), is a non-profit group that receives no state or federal funding.

The Staten Island Children's Museum appeals to the intrepid explorer in every child. Interactive exhibitions and creative workshops offer plenty of opportunities for hands-on, first hand experiences that nurture children's natural curiosity and creativity. Visits to the museum launch children on a voyage of discovery - about themselves and the world around them.

O Centro Cultural do Banco do Brasil (CCBB) do Rio de Janeiro é um dos quatro CCBBs do país, que também existem nas capitais Brasília, São Paulo e Belo Horizonte. Large Scale Exhibits! Multi-Media installations! A unique outdoor environment! The Socrates Sculpture Park offers one of the most unique and amazing artistic experiences in NYC. Located in Queens and occupying what was once an illegal dump site, this picturesque park has been transformed from a lowly and dirty area into one of the most beautiful artistic displays known to man. Artists in the park are encouraged to utilize their unique and sprawling designs to capture the masses and produce a unique form of creative expression. The Park not only displays these amazing works, but also offers a variety of hands-on experiences and guest lecturers to give the newly aspiring artists the motivation to break through society’s norms and create their own legacy. Coming up in Summer 2012, the Park will be offering several unique workshops focusing on giving back to the community and utilizing one’s talents for the greater good of society. As you approach the New York Hall of Science Museum, you will be awed by the visual appeal of the large, rounded entrance featuring an array of windows, enhancing the open feel. Empresário bem-sucedido, Raymundo Ottoni de Castro Maya (1894-1968) soube conciliar atividades empresariais muito bem sucedidas com as de realização de projetos culturais. A sua atividade como colecionador que nos legou os registros materiais desse esforço. O apoio a valores artísticos nacionais e a busca do acesso público às suas coleções tornavam-no um tipo de mecenas moderno e urbano, comprometido com a cidade em que vivia É igualmente importante destacar a sua participação na fundação do Museu de Arte Moderna do Rio de Janeiro, em 1948, do qual foi o primeiro presidente.

O Museu do Mar é uma entidade única no Brasil, de iniciativa privada, sem finalidade lucrativa, tendo como principal objetivo o aperfeiçoamento cultural e intelectual da comunidade pelo estudo sistemático das ciências do mar.
Seu acervo é conhecido no mundo inteiro por pesquisadores, institutos oceanográficos e demais instituições congêneres - com os quais mantém a entidade permanente intercâmbio científico -, sendo considerado pela comunidade especializada um dos mais completos e diversificados da América Latina.

Durante os 15 anos do primeiro governo de Getúlio Vargas, o Rio de Janeiro passou por profundas reformas urbanas e arquitetônicas. Entre 1920 e 1940, a cidade ganhou mais 600 mil habitantes. No campo da arquitetura, foram construídos novos prédios para os Ministérios da Guerra, da Fazenda e Educação e Saúde. A antiga sede do Ministério da Fazenda no Rio de Janeiro funcionava em um velho casarão, quase em ruínas, localizado na Av. Passos. Em julho de 1934 foi autorizada a construção de um edifício-sede, centralizando todas as repartições do Ministério da Fazenda e Tribunal de Contas, na antiga capital brasileira. O local escolhido foi a Esplanadado Castelo. O lançamento da pedra fundamental ocorreu em 3 de outubro de 1938, data escolhida em comemoração ao 8º aniversário da Revolução de1930. O ato foi presidido pelo então presidente da República Getúlio Vargas. Em novembro de 1943 foi inaugurada a nova sede do Ministério da Fazenda de estilo neo-clássico.

Construído em 1914, com o objetivo de reforçar a defesa da Baía de Guanabara, o Forte de Copacabana oferece aos seus visitantes muitas curiosidades e atrações. No Museu Histórico do Exército, fatos marcantes estão registrados através de exposições, exibições de vídeo, maquetes e, até, um setor interativo, original e bastante visitado pelos freqüentadores do Forte. Em 1991, o Prefeito Hugo Rodrigues Cunha iniciou um projeto de restauração do prédio da estação e outras dependências em ruína, para instalar o "Centro de Pesquisas Paleontológicas Llewellyn Ivor Price". Preservadas suas características originais, a antiga estação, hoje restaurada, abriga um laboratório de preparação de fósseis e um atraente museu paleontológico, aberto à visitação pública. Dois outros imóveis foram transformados em residências para hospedar pesquisadores.

O Museu Nacional/UFRJ está vinculado ao Ministério da Educação. É a mais antiga instituição científica do Brasil e o maior museu de história natural e antropológica da América Latina. Criado por D. João VI, em 06 de junho de 1818 e, inicialmente, sediado no Campo de Sant’Anna, serviu para atender aos interesses de promoção do progresso cultural e econômico no país. Alojar-se no Paço de São Cristóvão, a partir de 1892 - residência da Família Imperial brasileira até 1889 - deu ao Museu um caráter ímpar frente às outras instituições do gênero.

O Instituto Ciência Hoje (ICH) é uma organização social de interesse público sem fins lucrativos vinculada à Sociedade Brasileira para o Progresso da Ciência (SBPC).
O site Ciência Hoje On-line é uma iniciativa pioneira de divulgação científica na internet brasileira. Além de disponibilizar parte do conteúdo das publicações do ICH, o site publica notícias exclusivas atualizadas diariamente que oferecem ao leitor uma cobertura dinâmica da atualidade científica no Brasil e no mundo.
Em 2007, foi lançado, em parceria com o Centro Brasileiro de Pesquisas Físicas, o livro Física Hoje - Uma aventura pela natureza: dos átomos ao universo, que reúne 11 artigos escritos por renomados pesquisadores brasileiros e originalmente publicados na revista Ciência Hoje ao longo de 2005, em comemoração ao Ano Mundial da Física.
O ICH atua também na divulgação científica em meios audiovisuais: o Instituto promoveu a realização do programa de televisão Tome Ciência, uma série semanal que abordou de forma acessível temas de ciência e tecnologia.. Em outubro de 2004, o ICH se uniu à Rede Globo na campanha Ciência Vale a Pena.

O Museu do Amanhã é um museu de artes e ciências construído no Pier da Praça Mauá, no Centro do Rio de Janeiro, como âncora do projeto de revitalização urbana da Região Portuária da cidade, o Porto Maravilha. Projetado pelo arquiteto espanhol Santiago Calatrava, o Museu do Amanhã é uma iniciativa da Prefeitura do Rio, concebido e realizado em conjunto com a Fundação Roberto Marinho (Grupo Globo) e o Banco Santander como Patrocinador Master. Tem a BG Brasil como mantenedora e o apoio do Governo do Estado, por meio da Secretaria de Estado do Ambiente, e do Governo Federal, por intermédio da Financiadora de Estudos e Projetos (Finep). Orientado pelos valores da Sustentabilidade e da Convivência, o Museu busca promover a inovação, divulgar os avanços da ciência e publicar os sinais vitais do planeta, alertando para os riscos das mudanças climáticas provocadas pela degradação ambiental.
