Kahala Mall is home to a number of nationally and internationally recognized businesses, including Whole Foods Market, Apple Store, Macy's, Barnes & Noble, Starbucks, Jamba Juice, Radio Shack, Chili's and California Pizza Kitchen.
Local merchants and a number of independently-owned shops and restaurants can also be found within the mall perimeter. An eight-screen Consolidated Theatres movie theater is nestled into one corner of the mall. Waialae Bowl, the only bowling center within several miles of the neighborhood, was somewhat interestingly built into a McDonald's, at the corner opposite the movie theater. Unfortunately, it has since closed down (not related to the flood, however.) The movie theater in this mall was closed in March 2006. It has since reopened. The closing occurred as a result of flooding from heavy rains. The flood broke a hole through the wall of the theater and flowed into the mall, and parts of the ground floor had 3-6 inches of rain water. Many shops suffered substantially; some never reopened. Over a hundred years ago, Victoria Ward and her husband Curtis Perry Ward, shared a unique business partnership and created an estate extending from Thomas Square to the shore. Their former home, "Old Plantation", is the site of Blaisdell Concert Hall. Greenville Mall is a shopping mall located in Greenville, North Carolina which has over 500,000 square feet. It is located at the corner of Greenville and Arlington Boulevards.
Greenville Mall was originally built as a strip center named Pitt Plaza. The center was enclosed in the 1980s as a response to construction of Carolina East Mall and named The Plaza. Devonshire Mall opened August 12,1970. The area was previously the "Devonshire Raceway" in the earlier part of the 20th Century, until burning down in 1939.
