A imponente e conceituada Sala Cecília Meireles, uma edificação do século XIX, está localizada na cidade do Rio de Janeiro, no Largo da Lapa. Tradicional casa de concertos de música de câmara no cenário cultural da cidade, assim denominada em homenagem à poetisa, pianista Cecília Meireles. O prédio, originalmente erguido para funcionar como hotel (Grande Hotel da Lapa) recebeu empresários e políticos da República Velha. Posteriormente, em 1948 foi reformado e transformado em sala de cinema (Cine Colonial). Desde o início da década de 70, vem recebendo atenções especiais das autoridades do estado do Rio de Janeiro com o apoio de instituições privadas objetivando manter um espaço cultural permanente para difusão de música erudita, em particular a música de câmara. O Teatro Municipal João Caetano foi reinaugurado em 1995, após uma profunda restauração. O projeto de recuperação encarou um grande desafio que era respeitar os aspectos históricos e ao mesmo tempo dotá-lo de modernidade. Ao longo de sua história, o teatro sofreu sucessivas obras de reformas que foram alterando a forma original do prédio, adaptando espaços e desfigurando seus seus núcleos históricos, dando origem a um prédio com características de diferentes épocas. Nessa época, o mar batia próximo de sua fachada posterior onde havia um atracador para pequenas embarcações que traziam os produtos frescos.

The National September 11 Memorial is a tribute of remembrance and honor to the nearly 3,000 people killed in the terror attacks of September 11, 2001 at the World Trade Center site, near Shanksville, Pa., and at the Pentagon, as well as the six people killed in the World Trade Center bombing in February 1993.
The Memorial’s twin reflecting pools are each nearly an acre in size and feature the largest manmade waterfalls in the North America. The pools sit within the footprints where the Twin Towers once stood. Architect Michael Arad and landscape architect Peter Walker created the Memorial design selected from a global design competition that included more than 5,200 entries from 63 nations.
The names of every person who died in the 2001 and 1993 attacks are inscribed into bronze panels edging the Memorial pools, a powerful reminder of the largest loss of life resulting from a foreign attack on American soil and the greatest single loss of rescue personnel in American history.

O Trem do Corcovado é uma linha férrea localizada na cidade do Rio de Janeiro. A linha começa em Cosme Velho e segue até o cume do Corcovado, a uma altitude de 710m. O cume é famoso pela estátua do Cristo Redentor e pela vistá aérea de várias praias do Rio de Janeiro.
A linha possui 3,8km de extensão e utiliza um sistema de tração elétrico. A linha foi inaugurada pelo imperador Dom Pedro II em 9 de Outubro de 1884. Inicialmente utilizava tração mecânica, sendo que o sistema de tração elétrico foi instalado em 1910, se tornando pioneiro no Brasil. Em 1980 a linha foi modernizada com a compra de trens da empresa SLM, sediada na cidade de Winterthur, Suíça.
A linha férrea do Corcovado é uma das poucas que ainda utilizam um sistema elétrico trifásico, possuindo, assim, dois cabos aéreos. A linha possui 4 trens, cada qual com dois vagões. A importância da edificação, sede do CCL, para a memória do Rio levou o governo federal a decretar o tombamento de sua fachada, em 1985. Guardião de um rico acervo histórico sobre a empresa, a cidade e o estado, o CCL já teve no apoio às artes um de seus principais focos. Atualmente dedica-se a um projeto educacional denominado Centro Cultural Light para Estudantes, onde as crianças podem aprofundar seus conhecimentos sobre a história da eletricidade e da Light. Esse projeto, iniciado em junho de 2002, já beneficiou cerca de 150 mil estudantes e professores.

O Sítio do famoso paisagista abriga cerca de 3500 espécimes de plantas originárias de florestas brasileiras e de outros países, numa área de 360.000 metros quadrados. A coleção é considerada uma das mais importantes do mundo no que se refere a plantas tropicais e semi-tropicais, possuindo o título de patrimônio cultural brasileiro desde 1985. Cursos e encontros são regularmente promovidos e estudantes universitários são orientados por professores de Biologia/Botânica. Fazem parte do Conselho Consultivo do Sítio muitos dos melhores botânicos e paisagistas brasileiros que ajudam a instituição com os seus conhecimentos. O Sítio não é aberto ao público para passeios livres. É obrigatória a prévia marcação da visita que se realiza orientada por monitores.

Construído em três anos, de 1936 a 1939, o prédio da ABI, destaca-se inclusive por ter sido nele utilizada pela primeira vez a solução apresentada pelo legendário Le Corbusier para o problema do excesso de luz - o “brise-soleil”, quebra-sol através de persianas de concreto na fachada.
O edifício-sede da ABI foi tombado pelo Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico Estadual em 1965. Sua principal característica é a unidade, que dá a tônica do conjunto, tanto nas soluções plásticas quanto nas estruturais.
A história da fundação da ABI se confunde com a de seu perseverante idealizador Gustavo de Lacerda. Criada em 7 de abril de 1908, seu principal objetivo era assegurar à classe jornalística os direitos assistenciais e tornar-se um centro poderoso de ação. Segundo o próprio Lacerda, a Associação deveria ser um campo neutro em que se pudessem abrigar todos os trabalhadores da imprensa.
