A imponente e conceituada Sala Cecília Meireles, uma edificação do século XIX, está localizada na cidade do Rio de Janeiro, no Largo da Lapa. Tradicional casa de concertos de música de câmara no cenário cultural da cidade, assim denominada em homenagem à poetisa, pianista Cecília Meireles. O prédio, originalmente erguido para funcionar como hotel (Grande Hotel da Lapa) recebeu empresários e políticos da República Velha. Posteriormente, em 1948 foi reformado e transformado em sala de cinema (Cine Colonial). Desde o início da década de 70, vem recebendo atenções especiais das autoridades do estado do Rio de Janeiro com o apoio de instituições privadas objetivando manter um espaço cultural permanente para difusão de música erudita, em particular a música de câmara. Em 2008, uma nova sede de 87 mil m2 na Barra da Tijuca, uma antiga aspiração da Instituição, abrigará a OSB e receberá o nome de Cidade da Música Roberto Marinho, o mais ousado projeto em torno da música sendo construído no país. Realização da Prefeitura da Cidade do Rio de Janeiro, o projeto conta com a parceria da Fundação Roberto Marinho e é assinado pelo francês Christian de Portzamparc, autor da aclamada Cite de la Musique, de Paris. Roberto Minczuk, é o diretor artístico e regente titular da OSB e da Filarmônica de Calgary. Já regeu as Filarmônicas de Nova York, Los Angeles, Israel e Roterdam; as orquestras da Filadélfia, Nacional da França, National Simphony e Minnesota, Atlanta, Baltimore, Houston, entre outras. Na Europa regeu as Filarmônica de Londres, Hoslo, Hallé, Nacional de Lyon e Royal National Scottish.

O local se caracteriza em parte por mata fechada e em parte por tratamento paisagístico com magníficos jardins. Em 1939 a família Guinle repassou o imóvel ao governo do Distrito Federal, que então determinou sua conversão em parque público.

The building depicted above is New York City's third City Hall. Constructed from 1803-1812, it was designed by John McComb, Jr. and Joseph-Francois Mangin. The building has undergone many restorations during its almost two hundred-year history. The original copper roof of City Hall was installed in 1811; it was replaced in 1853, and five years later, due to fire damage, replaced again. Additional work on the roof was undertaken in the early part of this century. Since that time, the last recorded work on the roof was undertaken in 1970, when roof openings were installed to accommodate new air conditioning units.

The USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center is located in Flushing, in the New York City borough of Queens and has been the home of the US Open Grand Slam tennis tournament played every year in August and September. According to the United States Tennis Association, the center is the largest public tennis facility in the world with 22 courts inside the facility and 11 more in the adjoining park. Seven miles west of Marion, you may visit the site of one of Alabama’s last active plantations, one which has been in the same family since the early 1800s.
Most of the buildings are original to the site, and much of the handiwork of William Moore “the wagon maker” can be seen. Historic papers, a deed signed by Andrew Jackson, and other items of interest may be viewed in the Country Store. Farm equipment, such as wagons, plows, planters, hay rakes, and other pieces, may be seen also.

The cathedral was finally completed in 1879, and the doors were opened to the public in May of that year. However, the cathedral's construction was not yet finished, and in 1888, Archbishop Michael Corrigan added the towers on the West Front of the cathedral. In 1901, Corrigan began work on the east addition, which included the construction of the Lady Chapel.
Today, St. Patrick's Cathedral is a popular tourist destination and a significant religious and cultural site in New York City. It is a National Historic Landmark and is known for its grand architecture, stunning stained-glass windows, and beautiful mosaics. The cathedral remains an important symbol of the Catholic faith and the history of the city of New York.

The 115,000 square foot, 1.3 million gallon Ripley's Aquarium is home to 10-foot sharks, 8,000 exotic fish, and the world's longest aquarium tunnel.

The National September 11 Memorial is a tribute of remembrance and honor to the nearly 3,000 people killed in the terror attacks of September 11, 2001 at the World Trade Center site, near Shanksville, Pa., and at the Pentagon, as well as the six people killed in the World Trade Center bombing in February 1993.
The Memorial’s twin reflecting pools are each nearly an acre in size and feature the largest manmade waterfalls in the North America. The pools sit within the footprints where the Twin Towers once stood. Architect Michael Arad and landscape architect Peter Walker created the Memorial design selected from a global design competition that included more than 5,200 entries from 63 nations.
The names of every person who died in the 2001 and 1993 attacks are inscribed into bronze panels edging the Memorial pools, a powerful reminder of the largest loss of life resulting from a foreign attack on American soil and the greatest single loss of rescue personnel in American history.

Socrates Sculpture Park was an abandoned riverside landfill and illegal dumpsite until 1986 when a coalition of artists and community members, under the leadership of artist Mark di Suvero, transformed it into an open studio and exhibition space for artists and a neighborhood park for local residents. Today it is an internationally renowned outdoor museum and artist residency program that also serves as a vital New York City park offering a wide variety of public services.

Um dos mais bonitos prédios do Rio de Janeiro, localizado na Praça Floriano, conhecida como Cinelândia, no centro da cidade, o Theatro Municipal é a principal casa de espetáculos do Brasil e uma das mais importantes da América do Sul. O Instituto Casa de Cultura Rio (ICCRIO) foi fundado em 1988, sendo a escola pioneira do Método Suzuki de ensino musical no Rio de Janeiro. Ao longo destes anos, Suray Soren, diretora artística do Instituto, vem ensinando violino a crianças e adolescentes por este revolucionário método japonês. A Academia Brasileira de Ciências foi fundada no dia 3 de maio de 1916, na cidade do Rio de Janeiro, com o nome Sociedade Brasileira de Sciencias, alterado em 1921 para sua atual denominação. Atualmente, a Academia reúne seus membros em dez áreas especializadas: Ciências Matemáticas, Ciências Físicas, Ciências Químicas, Ciências da Terra, Ciências Biológicas, Ciências Biomédicas, Ciências da Saúde, Ciências Agrárias, Ciências da Engenharia e Ciências Humanas. Começou a realizar filmagens (seu filme Pátio, de 1959, é o primeiro curta-metragem da Bahia) , ao mesmo tempo em que ingressou na Faculdade de Direito da Bahia (hoje um dos cursos da Universidade Federal da Bahia), entre 1959 a 1961), que logo abandonou para iniciar uma breve carreira jornalística, em que o foco era sempre sua paixão pelo cinema. Da faculdade foi o seu namoro e casamento com uma colega, Helena Ignez.
Sempre controvertido, escreveu e pensou cinema. Queria uma arte engajada ao pensamento e pregava uma nova estética, uma revisão crítica da realidade. Era visto pela ditadura militar que se instalou no país, em 1964, como um elemento subversivo.

Localizado na Zona Oeste da cidade do Rio de Janeiro, considerado um dos maiores parques urbanos do mundo e a maior floresta urbana do país, ocupando cerca de 10% da área total do município do Rio de Janeiro, o Parque Estadual da Pedra Branca possui cerca de 12.500 hectares de área coberta por vegetação típica da Mata Atlântica, como cedros, jacarandás, jequitibás e ipês, além de uma variada fauna, composta por jaguatiricas, preguiças-de-coleira, tamanduás-mirins, pacas, tatus e cotias.
O maciço circunda os bairros de Guaratiba a oeste, Bangu e Realengo ao norte, Jacarepaguá a leste, Barra da Tijuca a sudoeste e ao sul, Recreio dos Bandeirantes e Grumari ao sul e Campo Grande a noroeste e compreende o conjunto das seguintes serras: Valqueire, Viegas, Bangu, Barata, Lameirão, Engenho Velho, Rio Pequeno, Taquara, Pedra Branca, Quilombo, Santa Bárbara, Rio da Prata, Nogueira, Alto do Peri, Sacarrão, Geral de Guaratiba, Carapiá, Cabuçu e Grumari. Separa-se do Maciço de Gericinó pela Baixada Bangu - Realengo e do Maciço da Tijuca pela baixada de Jacarepaguá.

A Academia Brasileira de Letras é uma instituição que foi fundada em 20 de julho de 1897.
Composta por 40 membros efetivos e perpétuos, eleitos em votação secreta e 20 sócios correspondentes estrangeiros, tem por fim o cultivo da língua e a literatura nacional. O Palácio Austregésilo de Athayde, situado na Avenida Presidente Wilson ao lado do Petit Trianon, foi inaugurado em 20 de julho de 1979, na presidência do Acadêmico Austregésilo de Athayde. O objetivo do então presidente era de construir um prédio moderno que no futuro se tornasse base sólida do patrimônio da Academia, além de fazê-lo instrumento de promoção da cultura sobre toda a nação brasileira.
Atualmente, parte do Palácio Austregésilo de Athayde é espaço para atividades culturais da ABL e local onde se situa a Diretoria e a Biblioteca Rodolfo Garcia.
