The Museum of Performance & Design is the first international arts institution devoted to the celebration of the performing arts and theatrical design. Located at the corner of Fifth Street and Home Avenue, the Hartsville Museum and the Sculpture Courtyard anchor the cultural plaza in downtown Hartsville, SC. The museum, founded in 1980, is a local history museum. Housed in a 1930’s Post Office Building, the museum has kept many of the unique architectural features of the building. The skylight, original to the building, has been retrofitted with stained glass panels depicting the flora and fauna significant to the area. The Sculpture Courtyard added in 2000 features many different types of sculpture. The Showcase Gallery presents special exhibits focusing on history, the arts or present day events.

Folk Art is an award-winning publication of the American Folk Art Museum. The editorial content is geared toward collectors, scholars, and the museum community interested in traditional and contemporary American folk and decorative arts. Folk Art is a membership benefit and delivered to a targeted national and international readership. In addition, Folk Art is sold at the two museum shops and on select newsstands throughout the country. Folk Art is a nonprofit magazine and is part of the educational programming of the American Folk Art Museum.

Known for being the first house museum on Staten Island, this New York City museum is rich in history on many levels. Its name lies in honor for the peace conference of 1776, a commemoration. Constructed circa 1680 by Captain Christopher Billopp, this 2 story rubble-stone masonry masterpiece has been restored over the years, as needed for structural integrity. Its steep gable roof gives the essence of the period. By 1934, much work had been completed including the Colonial Rose Garden and planting 13 trees to represent the original colonies. House tours are offered Friday-Sunday at 1 pm. In the midst of a collection of artifacts from the era, it is almost like stepping back to the time when our great country was still forming. The beauty and serenity overpower you while walking the grounds. Spring and summer bring the vivid colors of the trees to life. Why not stop for a minute to quite literally “smell the roses”? The museum is located in Hailey in the Gem State of Idaho. It was established in August, 1962, to “discover, procure and maintain whatever may relate to the history of Blaine County.”
The museum is housed in a building built in 1882 and donated to the City of Hailey by the pioneering Friedman family for the purpose of establishing a museum. Originally an adobe structure, the building has been extensively remodeled and refurbished although a portion of an external adobe wall can still be seen behind protective glass. Through the years the building has been a liquor store, a movie house, and a Knights of Labor hall as well as other enterprises. During the Spanish-American War it served as an armory.

he Sir William Campbell Foundation is a non-profit organization charged with the preservation and interpretation of Campbell House and related histories. Campbell House, built in 1822, is the oldest remaining building from the original town of York. It is a classical example of Georgian architecture, a rare find in Toronto. The Foundation maintains the house and operates a museum within the building for the purposes of educating the local and tourist community, including thousands of school children annually. The museum endeavours to make history come alive through the use of innovative hands-on approaches to history while still preserving important artefacts from Toronto's early heritage.

The Grey Nuns' convent, Winnipeg's oldest building, houses Le Musée de Saint-Boniface Museum. Built for the Grey Nuns who arrived in the Red River Colony in 1844, the structure is an outstanding example of Red River frame construction. The Museum presents an impressive collection of artifacts that reveal the lives and culture of the Francophone and Métis communities of Manitoba, including a special exhibit about Louis Riel, the "father" of Manitoba.

In 1881, Arthur-Osmore Norton lived on Union Street in Coaticook. The Manor, commonly known as ``Norton Castle``, was constructed in 1912 and replaced the original house. At that time the Manor became the family's second residence where Norton conducted his business on occasion.
The architectural style of the building is typical of the Neo-Queen Anne style. The roof and exterior walls are covered with brown wood shingles characteristic of the Shingle style. Both styles reflect the American eclectic style. The wide balconies, fenestration, fieldstones and gables all contribute to its uniqueness and splendour.
In 1942, Harry and Mary Helen, Norton's two children, bequeathed the Manor to the Anglican Church of Canada. The church moved its boarding school for young girls, Bishop Mountain Hall, from Quebec City to Coaticook. Many young anglophone girls throughout the province boarded there until the Hall's closure in 1968. Subsequently, residents of the Dixville Home resided in the Manor for a few years.
Denise Beaulne was the first person in charge of the museum that was founded in 1964 and was located above City Hall and then in the Françoise-Maurice Library building. Her knowledge of both English and French families combined with her interest in cultural heritage and her devotion were key to the development of the institution that today bears her name. The museum was moved to the Manor in 1976 after the municipality of Coaticook bought the building.

"Two different accounts of the history of coal mining in County Durham are presented.
The first comes from The Victoria History of the Counties of England - Durham, published in three volumes in 1907. It contains a large section on the history of coal mining in the county. This work focuses on the detailed history and does not cover the social or practical side of the industry. We have reproduced the text up to the start of the nineteenth century.
The second comes from The History, Topography, and Directory of the County Palatine of Durham by Francis Whellan, second edition, published in 1894. Once again there is a large section of the history of coal mining in the county, however, it concentrates on the nineteenth century, but the major part covers the practical and the social side of mining during the nineteenth century.
The two works complement each other, and together present an overall history of the coal industry in County Durham. The history is nor complete without coverage of the twentieth century and the eventual demise of the industry - this topic is too large and complex to cover here and is best left to the many books on the subject. We do however, provide some information for the twentieth century in the individual pages on each colliery."

Museet rummer de centrale registre om fredede bygninger og fortidsminder og varetager fredningslovens bestemmelser om fredning af fortidsminder og bygninger samt deltager i naturfredning og byplanlægning.
