Our business started when our founder tried to furnish his apartment with the mid-century classics he'd come to appreciate while living in London. What he discovered was that acquiring the clean, simple work of designers like Saarinen, Eames and Bertoia was neither clean nor simple.

In September of 2005, we opened our new superstore to better serve our customers and give greater variety and choice! Libby's Torrington Furniture was started over 78 years ago by David Libby and Jack Apter. David became sole owner of the store in 1950. In 1968 David moved the store to its' current location at 104 Main Street.
