Considerada uma joia da arquitetura setecentista, a Igreja Imperial Irmandade da Nossa Senhora da Glória do Outeiro é um dos maiores patrimônios da arquitetura colonial religiosa brasileira. Construída no centro do adro, é formada por dois octógonos irregulares, alongados e interligados, antecedidos pela base quadrada da torre sineira, cujo pé lhe serve de pórtico. Os trabalhos ornamentais em talha estão no altar-mor, altares da nave, tribunas e coro, e representam a transição entre o final do estilo rococó e o neoclássico. Sua autoria é atribuída ao Mestre Valentim de Almeida, expoente da azulejaria joanina , e formam um dos conjuntos mais importantes do Brasil. A devoção a Nossa Senhora da Glória surgiu no início do século XVII, alguns anos após a fundação da cidade, quando no ano de 1608, um certo Ayres colocou uma pequena imagem da Virgem numa gruta natural existente no morro.

O Santuário da Penha conta com uma grande infra-estrutura que vem sendo melhorada incansavelmente para acolher a todos os Romeiros que sempre comparecem em grande quantidade, principalmente na época de festa. O Santuário da Penha fica em uma enorme e belíssima área verde, com uma localização de fácil acesso, seja pela Linha Vermelha, Linha Amarela ou Avenida Brasil. Para atender os romeiros, o Santuário da Penha conta com a comodidade de bebedouros, lanchonete e diversos banheiros, além de outras diversas instalações. Para aqueles que não desejam subir ou descer os 382 degraus da escadaria principal, o acesso do pátio até a Igreja pode ser feito através de um novíssimo bondinho, com capacidade para transportar cerca de 500 pessoas por hora.

O Centro de Artes Calouste Gulbenkian foi criado em 11 de março de 1971 e recebeu este nome em homenagem à instituição cultural portuguesa sediada em Lisboa, a Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian. A origem do Centro Calouste Gulbenkian, que está instalado na Praça Onze, está ligada à necessidade de formar professores de artesanato para atender às escolas públicas do Estado do Rio. Os cursos de Artes oferecidos no Centro de Artes Calouste Gulbenkian traduzem uma proposta artístico-educacional diversificada e plural, dentro de uma prática atualizada e dinâmica, onde múltiplas linguagens artísticas se integram - do artesanato à pesquisa com novos matérias. Esses cursos são direcionados a quem busca a iniciação ou o aperfeiçoamento através da arte, tanto como linguagem expressiva como para a criação de objetos utilitários. Através de aulas práticas em salas-oficinas, adequadas a cada uma das modalidades artísticas, os professores procuram dar atendimento individualizado, buscando atender os diferentes objetivos de cada aluno.

Nasceu de uma idéia no ano de 1994, de duas irmãs que tinham como objetivo principal proporcionar à criança urbana um contato com a vida rural, resgatando, de uma maneira lúdica, a infância perdida de quem vive nos grandes centros. Animais de porte pequeno e médio, bem próximos de se habitat natural, fazem a alegria da criançada. A Fazendinha recebe até visita de índios de verdade. O maciço circunda os bairros de Guaratiba a oeste, Bangu e Realengo ao norte, Jacarepaguá a leste, Barra da Tijuca a sudoeste e ao sul, Recreio dos Bandeirantes e Grumari ao sul e Campo Grande a noroeste e compreende o conjunto das seguintes serras: Valqueire, Viegas, Bangu, Barata, Lameirão, Engenho Velho, Rio Pequeno, Taquara, Pedra Branca, Quilombo, Santa Bárbara, Rio da Prata, Nogueira, Alto do Peri, Sacarrão, Geral de Guaratiba, Carapiá, Cabuçu e Grumari. Separa-se do Maciço de Gericinó pela Baixada Bangu - Realengo e do Maciço da Tijuca pela baixada de Jacarepaguá.

O Centro Cultural do Banco do Brasil (CCBB) do Rio de Janeiro é um dos quatro CCBBs do país, que também existem nas capitais Brasília, São Paulo e Belo Horizonte. Helio Oiticica (1937-1980) foi um dos mais criativos artistas plásticos brasileiros. A síntese de sua obra são seus belos "Parangolés" (1964): capas, estandartes ou bandeiras coloridas de algodão ou náilon com poemas em tinta sobre o tecido a serem vestidas ou carregadas pelo ator/espectador, que passa a perceber seu corpo transformado em dança. Quase uma poesia, pois a obra de arte só se revela quando alguém a manuseia, a movimenta.
