The Brooklyn Bridge, one of the oldest suspension bridges in the United States, stretches 5,989 feet over the East River connecting the New York City boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn. On completion, it was the largest suspension bridge in the world and the first steel-wire suspension bridge.

Na edificação são elementos de detaque, o prédio solto no centro do quarteirão com as pessoas cruzando-o diagonalmente, o pilotis de dupla altura, o átrio de paredes de travertino, a escada helicoidal, a estatuária acrescentada ao passeio e as fachadas compostas de vidro e de brise-soleil, dispositivo regulável para entrada do sol.

Helio Oiticica (1937-1980) foi um dos mais criativos artistas plásticos brasileiros. A síntese de sua obra são seus belos "Parangolés" (1964): capas, estandartes ou bandeiras coloridas de algodão ou náilon com poemas em tinta sobre o tecido a serem vestidas ou carregadas pelo ator/espectador, que passa a perceber seu corpo transformado em dança. Quase uma poesia, pois a obra de arte só se revela quando alguém a manuseia, a movimenta.

Certo de que seria um importante intervenção urbanística, o prefeito convidou Niemeyer para criar as edificações que, juntas com o MAC, formariam um caminho ao longo da orla, o Caminho Niemeyer. Few places evoke the spirit of patriotism and independence, represent individual and collective sacrifice, or demonstrate the resolve, tenacity and determination of the people of the United States to be free as does Morristown. The historic landscapes, structures, objects, and archeological and natural resources at Morristown are tangible links to one of the most defining events in our nation's history. Here the Continental Army under Washington's leadership emerged as a cohesive and disciplined fighting force. The Morristown experience is fundamental to both American history, and remains a source of inspiration for Americans and the world.
