"Mestre dos Sonhos" Francisco de Paula Coimbra de Almeida Brennand nasceu a 11 de junho de 1927, na cidade do Recife, capital do Estado de Pernambuco. Em novembro de 1971, o artista começou a reconstruir a velha Cerâmica São João da Várzea, fundada pelo seu pai em 1917. Esse conjunto, encontrado em ruínas, deu início a um colossal projeto de esculturas cerâmicas que deveriam povoar os espaços internos e externos do ambiente. Hoje, após mais de 34 anos de trabalho intenso e obsessivo, confrontamo-nos com esse complexo escultórico, cujo significado dá relevo a um sentido cosmogônico e, ao mesmo tempo, visionário de Francisco Brennand.

The Mississippi Petrified Forest is a fascinating place, located in hills with ravines hollowed out by nature during the past century. The size of the petrified logs indicates that as living trees, these stone giants were over one hundred feet tall, and perhaps a thousand or more years old.

Jacksonville Ice & Sportsplex offers 100,000 square feet of recreation, sports and meeting space all under one roof. The Sportsplex side houses 55,000 square feet of space which include meeting space, small breakout rooms, multipurpose courts, general fitness space, and turf space. O Jockey Club também possui uma sede social no Centro do Rio de Janeiro, localizada num prédio de 12 andares, projeto assinado pelo arquiteto Lúcio Costa. At the beginning of the 2009 Major League Baseball season the new Yankee Stadium opened its doors when the Yankees hosted a workout day in front of fans from the Bronx community. The first game at this brand new ballpark was a pre-season exhibition game against the Chicago Cubs, played on April 3, 2009, which the Yankees won 7-4. The new Yankee Stadium is located in the Bronx, across the street from the original Yankee Stadium. It is built on a 24 acre area and has a price tag of $1.5 billion, which makes it not only the most expensive baseball stadium ever built but also the third-most expensive stadium of any kind.

Based on The Suit by Can Themba, Mothobi Mutloatse, and Barney Simon Direction, adaptation, and music by Peter Brook, Marie-Hélène Estienne, and Franck Krawczyk The renowned Peter Brook—whose 1987 production of The Mahabharata inaugurated the BAM Majestic Theater (now the BAM Harvey Theater)—returns with a music-filled adaptation of South African writer Can Themba’s piercing tale of simmering resentment and tragedy, The Suit. A wife caught in the act, her lover fleeing the scene, a suit left behind. It’s the perfect recipe for a husband’s punishing, humiliating decree: go on with business as usual, he says to his spouse, but take your lover’s suit everywhere you go as a ghostly reminder of your betrayal. Using an innovative staging that integrates live musicians directly into the action, Brook makes Themba’s volatile work sing. A hummed “Strange Fruit,” African melodies, and Schubert lieder thicken the tense, poisoned air of this apartheid-era summer in which a shared wound was not allowed to heal.
Dating from its first performance in 1861, BAM has grown into a thriving urban arts center that brings international performing arts and film to Brooklyn. The first BAM facility at 176-194 Montague Street in Brooklyn Heights was originally conceived by the Philharmonic Society of Brooklyn as a home for its concerts. It housed a large theater seating 2,200, a smaller concert hall, dressing and chorus rooms, and a vast "baronial" kitchen. BAM presented both amateur and professional music and theater productions. Performers included Ellen Terry, Edwin Booth, Tomas Salvini, and Fritz Kreisler.

O Centro de Artes Calouste Gulbenkian foi criado em 11 de março de 1971 e recebeu este nome em homenagem à instituição cultural portuguesa sediada em Lisboa, a Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian. A origem do Centro Calouste Gulbenkian, que está instalado na Praça Onze, está ligada à necessidade de formar professores de artesanato para atender às escolas públicas do Estado do Rio. Os cursos de Artes oferecidos no Centro de Artes Calouste Gulbenkian traduzem uma proposta artístico-educacional diversificada e plural, dentro de uma prática atualizada e dinâmica, onde múltiplas linguagens artísticas se integram - do artesanato à pesquisa com novos matérias. Esses cursos são direcionados a quem busca a iniciação ou o aperfeiçoamento através da arte, tanto como linguagem expressiva como para a criação de objetos utilitários. Através de aulas práticas em salas-oficinas, adequadas a cada uma das modalidades artísticas, os professores procuram dar atendimento individualizado, buscando atender os diferentes objetivos de cada aluno.

A Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, participando do processo de valorização da cidade como centro de produção do saber inaugurou, em junho de 1995, a Casa da Ciência - Centro Cultural de Ciência e Tecnologia da UFRJ, espaço com 3 mil m2, explorando as diversas áreas do conhecimento através de linguagens variadas - teatro, música, oficinas, cursos, palestras, seminários e audiovisual.
