Since its birth almost forty years ago as the "First Inland Oceanarium", the Aquarium of Niagara has seen over 8 million visitors, tourists, teachers, and students pass through its doors. It was the first aquarium to use synthetic seawater to exclusively maintain marinelife. More than forty exhibits showcase 1,500 aquatic animals from around the globe.
The Aquarium of Niagara is one of only 17 institutions in North America to house a colony of the endangered Peruvian penguin. Two daily penguin feedings provide visitors an opportunity to "Meet the Keeper" and learn about these fascinating aquatic birds!
The schedule includes exciting shark feedings (on alternate days), and scheduled sessions with the California sea lions in the 100,000 gallon central pool. Moray eels, piranhas, clownfish and the brilliantly colored fish of the coral reefs compliment the regional freshwater exhibits of sturgeon, gar and rock bass.

Em meados de 1700 uma grande casa foi construída para abrigar a sede da Fazenda São José da Alagoinha da Gávea, cujas extensões iam da Gávea até Jacarepaguá e Tijuca. Anos mais tarde a propriedade, já desmembrada foi adquirida por Ferreira Viana, redator da Lei Áurea, Conselheiro Imperial e Ministro da Justiça do II Império. A casa transformada em local de repouso e veraneio, acolheu hóspedes ilustres, como o próprio Imperador D. Pedro II que, pessoalmente, plantou cinco das seis imponentes palmeiras imperiais que hoje guardam a casa. Em 1932 a casa passou às mãos do italiano Comendador Osvaldo Riso, um jovem entusiasta no compromisso com o desenvolvimento cultural do país e principal incentivador das relações entre Brasil e Itália. Na década de 80, Cesarina Riso, primogênita do casamento do Comendador com a artista plástica amazonense Camélia Riso inicia trabalho de adaptação e reestruturação da antiga mansão transformando-a em sofisticado centro cultural e casa de reuniões sociais inspirada nas “ville” italianas...

At the core of Kaufman Astoria are seven column-free stages including a mammoth 26,000 square foot stage - the largest east of Hollywood. Our newest addition is Stage K with over 18, 000 square feet. In addition, there are two stages over 12,000 square feet each, and smaller stages of 8,000, 4,000 and 3,000 square feet. The Panama Rocks are reputed to be the world's most extensive outcropping of glacier-sculpted, ocean-quartz-conglomerate rock. Geologists believe the rocks originated as sand and gravel sea islands, over 300 million years ago. The islands were part of a huge river delta. Over aeons, the islands were covered by thousands of feet of sediments, and were 'pressure compacted' into rock. About 165 million years ago, the rock was fractured and uplifted to its present altitude [1650']. During the last Ice Age, a glacier cut-into and unearthed the rock. Since that time a lush, mixed forest has grown over the site.

No Museu Histórico do Exército, fatos marcantes estão registrados através de exposições, exibições de vídeo, maquetes e, até, um setor interativo, original e bastante visitado pelos freqüentadores do Forte. Es una institución gubernamental del estado ecuatoriano, fue creada como entidad de derecho público adscrita al Ministerio del Ambiente. Su principal función es la protección y el manejo de las áreas protegidas en el archipiélago de Galápagos, como es, el Parque Nacional Galápagos PNG (área terrestre) y la Reserva Marina de Galápagos RMG.
Su objetivo es proteger y conservar los ecosistemas del archipiélago y su diversidad biológica para el beneficio de la humanidad, las poblaciones locales, la ciencia y la educación.
Esto garantiza los procesos evolutivos, además de fomentar el desarrollo sustentable de las actividades humanas en el archipiélago. A pouco mais de 80 quilômetros do Rio, a pequena Sacra Família do Tinguá, no município de Engenheiro Paulo de Frontin, vive-se um clima de autêntica descontração, resultante das peripécias e traquinagens dos hóspedes do local; crianças alegres e felizes se divertindo a valer. A razão de tanto barulho se chama Kinderland (terra de criança em alemão), a mais tradicional colônia de férias fluminense.
A instituição iniciou suas atividades em 1952, com o trabalho de um grupo de senhoras judias que acolhia órfãos de guerra, entretanto, o lugar não se caracteriza como instituição religiosa.
A palavra de ordem é confraternização, valorizar ao máximo a convivência em grupo.
Os acampamentos livram as crianças do controle familiar e abrem um mundo novo para elas. O primeiro grito de independência. Longe dos olhares paternos, as crianças convivem com pessoas diferentes, tomam decisões sozinhas, aprendem a ser disciplinadas e crescem em todos os sentidos.
São 750 mil metros quadrados de área verde cercado de montanhas e belas paisagens comportando grupos de até 170 pessoas. A colônia oferece acomodações para dormir, refeitório, piscina, quadra de esporte, lago, gincanas, festas dançantes e peças de teatro. Durante o dia, o passeio ecológico é um dos momentos mais esperados. Acompanhados por um biólogo, a garotada sai à procura de animais de diferentes espécies pela mata. São três refeições e mais três lanches por dia para repor a energia,
