Located across from City Hall in the heart of downtown Jacksonville. First established as a public square by the City’s founder Isaiah D. Hart around 1857, it is Jacksonville’s oldest park. Known first as City Park and then St. James Park, it was renamed Hemming Park in 1899 to honor Civil War veteran Charles C. Hemming, who donated the park’s Confederate monument (the City’s oldest and tallest) the previous year. At various times the park contained bandstands, fountains, comfort stations, and Tourist and Convention Bureau buildings, along with many beautiful trees. In 1978, the City converted the park into a brick-paved plaza, and completed additional work in 1986 that transformed the area into a single-level, pedestrian-oriented mall. Due to its centralized location, the plaza has long been a part of the downtown experiences for both tourists and local citizens.

The Waikîkî Aquarium is one of the premier marine science institutions in the City & County of Honolulu and the State of Hawai'i. Founded on March 19, 1904, this marine aquarium is the third oldest public aquarium in the United States. Since 1919, the Waikîkî Aquarium has been an institution of the University of Hawai'i System. Situated beside a living coral reef on the Waikîkî shoreline, the Waikîkî Aquarium is home to more than 3,055 organisms of 464 species of marine plants and animals. The cathedral was finally completed in 1879, and the doors were opened to the public in May of that year. However, the cathedral's construction was not yet finished, and in 1888, Archbishop Michael Corrigan added the towers on the West Front of the cathedral. In 1901, Corrigan began work on the east addition, which included the construction of the Lady Chapel.

Em 1º de março de 1565, Estácio de Sá fundou, na Urca, entre os Morros Cara de Cão e Pão de Açúcar, a Cidade do Rio de Janeiro. Neste mesmo local foi erguida a Fortaleza de São João, constituída por três redutos (pequenos fortins também chamados de Baterias) e um grande Forte, o Forte São José, de 1578 – o terceiro forte mais antigo do país.
Depois de mais de cem anos, o Forte São José está sendo restaurado com apoio da lei Rouanet de Incentivo à Cultura. As duas primeiras fases da restauração foram patrocinadas pelo BNDES. Agora em sua terceira fase, o objetivo é fazer o restauro dos canhões do séc. XIX, e implantar projeto de iluminação para que o local possa ser visitado também à noite. A arquitetural original está sendo respeitada para que o carioca possa voltar no tempo.
A restauração do Forte São José será o ponto culminante de um grande complexo turístico-cultural dentro da Fortaleza de São João, que já está recebendo a visitação de escolas interessadas em mostrar aos seus alunos o palco de tantos momentos históricos importantes.

Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden will kick off its roster of 2013 events on January 12 with a concert by the Vincent Ruggieri Jazz Quartet and an exhibition of the work of two unique artists from the Snug Harbor Artist Residency Program (SHARP). The jazz concert, the first in the Island Sounds Music Mash-Up series will be from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Main Hall, Building C. The SHARP exhibition will be from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art in Building G. Refreshments will be served. Admission to both events is free. Parque Prefeito Ferraz nome oficial do Campo, pertenceu aos Benedetinos do Mosteiro de São Bento, que adquiriram as terras em 1697, de Manoel Rodrigues Raimundo, saldando a dívida de forma peculiar: em gado advindo de Campos. Em 1840/41, com o Plano de Arruamento seus limites foram definidos como o que conhecemos hoje. Em 1882/83, o Parque foi aterrado e no Início deste século, foi urbanizado. Figner também fundou a primeira gravadora musical no Brasil, a Odeon, contribuindo para difundir a música brasileira na Europa.

O Teatro Municipal João Caetano foi reinaugurado em 1995, após uma profunda restauração. O projeto de recuperação encarou um grande desafio que era respeitar os aspectos históricos e ao mesmo tempo dotá-lo de modernidade. Ao longo de sua história, o teatro sofreu sucessivas obras de reformas que foram alterando a forma original do prédio, adaptando espaços e desfigurando seus seus núcleos históricos, dando origem a um prédio com características de diferentes épocas. No entanto, a fachada manteve as linhas arquitetônicas neoclássicas da reforma de 1888 e 1889.

Em 1556, o Pe.Afonso Brás finalizou a construção em taipa da primeira Igreja dos jesuítas em São Paulo, anexa às dependências do Colégio.
Prejudicada por 13 anos de ausência forçada dos padres da Cia. de Jesus, que foram expulsos da vila, foi reconstruída e ampliada a partir de 1667, que teve como padroeiro o Senhor Bom Jesus.

Suas águas são escuras e calmas. A colônia de pescadores ali tem sua sede. A enseada de Jurujuba é cenário da Festa de São Pedro dos Pescadores, realizada anualmente em 29 de Junho. Além da Igreja de São Pedro dos Pescadores, na orla há vários restaurantes típicos de frutos do mar e bares.

Seu nome, na língua Tupi significa "água que sai do meio das pedras". Possui restaurantes de frutos do mar, todos na areia da praia, de onde se pode apreciar o mais belo pôr-do-sol da cidade. O canal de ligação da lagoa de Itaipu com o oceano, é o limite natural entre a praia de Itaipu e a de Camboinhas.
