Amidst the hustle and bustle of busy midtown Manhattan lays a tribute to the history of television and radio known as the Paley Center for Media (formerly known as The Museum of Television and Radio). Far from your typical museum, you will not find artifacts hidden behind glass enclosures or many “do not touch signs” here. Instead you will be delighted to find screening rooms, and a vast media collection from which you can choose an actual program and view it. Visitors are allowed to a selection of up to four programs per visit. There are also two, full-sized theatres which often feature public programs, so check the schedule and make sure you time your visit to catch one. This Manhattan museum also offers many family and educational programs. The “Re-Creating Radio Workshop”, teaches children (over 9) and adults to produce and re-create old time radio dramas, with the use of scripts, music and a variety of sound effects. This is a fun way for parents and children to experience media in the way that their grandparents used to enjoy the new world of multi-media. The San Diego Chinese Historical Museum is a nonprofit organization. The museum was founded in 1996, by the San Diego Chinese Historical Society under the leadership of its first three presidents: Sally Wong, Tom Hom, and Dr. Alexander Chuang. Charles Tyson donated the museum's current building, originally a Chinese mission located at 645 First Avenue, and in 1991, the City of San Diego graciously provided a piece of land in the original Chinatown area where the museum now resides.
Since opening in 1996, the museum has presented more than 47 exhibits highlighting the rich tradition of Chinese culture and history in San Diego and the world. The Museum also features a library of books on Chinese culture and a tranquil garden with koi pond.

O MAM possui obras que apresentam um rico panorama de meio século das artes brasileiras, num conjunto composto por peças de artistas de várias gerações: dos modernistas como Di Cavalcanti, Flávio de Carvalho, Portinari, Tarsila do Amaral e Volpi aos contemporâneos como Tunga e Waltércio Caldas, além dos baianos Mário Cravo Jr. e Mario Cravo Neto, Mestre Didi, Juarez Paraíso, Calazans Neto, Marepe, entre muitos outros. A coleção conta também com obras de artistas radicados na Bahia, como Pancetti, Pierre Verger e Carybé e com um dos maiores acervos de Rubem Valetim.

Construído em 1914, com o objetivo de reforçar a defesa da Baía de Guanabara, o Forte de Copacabana oferece aos seus visitantes muitas curiosidades e atrações. No Museu Histórico do Exército, fatos marcantes estão registrados através de exposições, exibições de vídeo, maquetes e, até, um setor interativo, original e bastante visitado pelos freqüentadores do Forte. Construído em 1872 por Bento Joaquim Alves Pereira, rico português residente no Rio de Janeiro, o Palacete Bartholdy ou Solar do Jambeiro é um notável exemplar da arquitetura residencial urbana burguesa, em meados do século XIX. Em meio à bela chácara arborizada, ergue-se o amplo sobrado, revestido de autênticos azulejos de padrão, típicos das construções portuguesas.

O local em que se instalou o MAE corresponde aos vestígios arquitetônicos do que foi o amplo e complexo edifício do Real Colégio dos Jesuítas, que incluía a atual Catedral Basílica. Construído, em sua maior parte, no século XVI, este exemplar único de arquitetura seiscentista/setecentista serviu como hospital militar após, a expulsão dos Jesuítas (1759), e mais tarde, ai se instalou a Escola de Cirurgia, fundada por Dom João VI, à sua chegada ao Brasil. Este conjunto arquitetônico foi modificado, em grande parte, inclusive com demolições, para se edificar um novo prédio, no final do século XIX. Após o incêndio ocorrido em 1905 as modificações arquitetônicas feitas por ocasião da reconstrução do prédio foram profundas, voltando este a abrigar a Faculdade de Medicina após a conclusão da reforma.

Ali viveu Francisco José de Oliveira Viana, um dos maiores nomes da sociologia nacional, nascido em 1883 e falecido em 1951. Sua biblioteca, especializada em sociologia, história, política e economia, consta de 15 mil obras que servem de material de consulta.

Instalado em Ipanema, o Museu Amsterdam Sauer de Pedras Preciosas e Minerais Raros é uma preciosidade no bairro mais fashion do Rio de Janeiro. Num cenário típico das regiões produtoras de gemas, pode-se observar réplicas de minas de esmeraldas, águas-marinhas e turmalinas, pedras típicas do Brasil. Estão em exibição mais de três mil pedras brutas e lapidadas - esmeraldas, rubilitas, águas-marinhas (incluindo um exemplar de 635 quilates), turmalinas, topázios imperiais... Algumas delas são destaques no Guiness Book - O Livro dos Recordes. O Museu Amsterdam Sauer faz parte do roteiro dos mais importantes pontos turístico-culturais do Rio.

O Museu de Arte Moderna de São Paulo está sediado em uma área privilegiada do Parque do Ibirapuera, integrando a estrutura paisagística e arquitetônica projetada por Oscar Niemeyer, entre 1953 e 1954, na região central da cidade. O prédio, desenhado por Lina Bo Bardi, foi construído sob a marquise do parque por ocasião da 5ª Bienal de São Paulo, em 1959.

Inaugurado em 7 de janeiro de 1997, o Museu Antártico mostra um pouco da vida no continente gelado e a significativa presença do Brasil na Antártica. Anexo ao Museu Oceanográfico, o prédio do Museu Antártico constitui-se de uma reprodução das primeiras instalações da Estação Antártica "Comandante Ferraz". Seu acervo conta com diversos painéis, otimizados por fotos que detalham a história da conquista daquele continente, a dinâmica dos mares e vida no Pólo Sul, bem como o esforço brasileiro em manter uma base num ambiente tão inóspito. Estão incluídas na sua exposição, alguns objetos utilizados pelos brasileiros e amostras geológicas e biológicas da Antártica.

O Ministério Público do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul chamou a si a tarefa de restauração do prédio do Palácio Provisório que começou a ser construído em 1857, na esquina da Praça da Matriz com a Rua Jerônimo Coelho, em Porto Alegre. Atualmente é considerado parte significativa do patrimônio histórico gaúcho, tendo sido tombado pelos poderes competentes. O edifício abrigou a Diretoria de Obras Públicas da Província, a Repartição dos Telégrafos e o antigo Comando das Armas da Província de São Pedro . Entre 1896 e 1921 foi provisoriamente sede do Governo sul-rio-grandense, já que o Palácio Piratini encontrava-se em construção.Após 1921, foi ocupado pela Secretaria de Saúde até início da década de 1960. Entre 1963 e 1998 funcionaram orgãos da Justiça como Escola Superior de Magistratura e Varas de Família. A partir de 1998, passou a integrar o patrimônio do Ministério Pùblico. O prédio foi adaptado para receber as instalações do Memorial do Ministério Público e o Gabinete do Procurador Geral de Justiça. As atividades da nova instituição começaram com a implantação de um projeto de memória institucional. A Procuradoria Geral de Justiça investiu na instalação de um centro de documentação e memória oral, a partir do qual são realizadas pesquisas históricas, publicações e exposições. O Memorial promove também seminários tematizando a trajetória e as perspectivas do Ministério Público no Rio Grande do Sul e no Brasil. O Memorial do Ministério Público ainda desenvolve projetos junto à comunidade, que reforçando e esclarecendo os mecanismos disponíveis para o exercício da cidadania. Com a implantação do Memorial do Ministério Público, o Ministério Público do Rio Grande do Sul contribui para a preservação do patrimônio cultural, recupera a memória institucional, investindo na formação de um novo campo historiográfico, e, sobretudo, oferece à população uma instituição cultural dinâmica, cujas atividades deverão concorrer para o aperfeiçoamento da nossa cidadania e para o reforço das nossas instituições democráticas.

A idéia da criação de uma instituição que privilegiasse a cultura gaúcha surgiu entre 1995 e 1996, sendo concretizada através de um convênio entre o governo federal e o governo estadual, em setembro de 1996. Ficou acordado, nessa ocasião, que a sede dos Correios e Telégrafos por quase um século, abrigaria um centro histórico sobre a memória rio-grandense. O acordo de cedência do prédio implicaria também na criação de um Museu Postal e uma Agência Filatélica, o que manteria uma estreita vinculação com as suas funções originais. O projeto de restauração foi previamente aprovado pelo IPHAN (Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico Nacional), uma vez que o prédio foi tombado em 1980. O antigo prédio dos Correios e Telégrafos foi totalmente revitalizado para abrigar a Instituição. Surgiu, dessa forma, um centro de informação e divulgação da história do estado, reunindo objetos, mapas, gravuras, fotos, livros, imagens iconográficas e depoimentos importantes sobre os principais fatos ocorridos no Rio Grande do Sul. O riquíssimo acervo está exposto através de uma concepção museográfica moderna aliada a novas tecnologias, permitindo, assim, a integração com o público e o fácil entendimento dos conteúdos.

The DOCKYARD MUSEUM in the Naval Officer's House interprets the story of English Harbour and of the people that toiled in this famous Georgian Royal Naval Yard. It also explains the 20th century return of sailing ships and the aims and aspirations of Nelson's Dockyard National Park. There is also a small "Nelson's Room" with a life sized portrait of Nelson researched through archaeological means.
