The Museum has four large floors devoted to the disciplines of art, history, natural history and science/technology. It houses both long-term exhibits and five changing exhibit galleries. On Oct. 29, 1988, the South Carolina State Museum opened its doors, bringing to the citizens of the Palmetto State the newest, and one of the finest, state museums in America. Since that day it has awed, delighted and enlightened millions of visitors. The State Museum has more than 70,000 artifacts in its collection, and it is still a very young institution. The State Museum has been voted Best Museum in the Midlands five years in a row by Columbia Metropolitan magazine, and was designated Best Museum of 2007 by the readers of the Free Times newspaper.

Known for being the first house museum on Staten Island, this New York City museum is rich in history on many levels. Its name lies in honor for the peace conference of 1776, a commemoration. Constructed circa 1680 by Captain Christopher Billopp, this 2 story rubble-stone masonry masterpiece has been restored over the years, as needed for structural integrity. Its steep gable roof gives the essence of the period. By 1934, much work had been completed including the Colonial Rose Garden and planting 13 trees to represent the original colonies. House tours are offered Friday-Sunday at 1 pm. In the midst of a collection of artifacts from the era, it is almost like stepping back to the time when our great country was still forming. The beauty and serenity overpower you while walking the grounds. Spring and summer bring the vivid colors of the trees to life. Why not stop for a minute to quite literally “smell the roses”? When the sun is descending, gaze over to the waterfront to enjoy the unparalleled sunset that exudes tangerine hues amid a backdrop of amber with scattered tones of violet entice you to just stand in awe of the beauty that is happening right before your eyes.

Amidst the hustle and bustle of busy midtown Manhattan lays a tribute to the history of television and radio known as the Paley Center for Media (formerly known as The Museum of Television and Radio). Far from your typical museum, you will not find artifacts hidden behind glass enclosures or many “do not touch signs” here. Instead you will be delighted to find screening rooms, and a vast media collection from which you can choose an actual program and view it. Visitors are allowed to a selection of up to four programs per visit. There are also two, full-sized theatres which often feature public programs, so check the schedule and make sure you time your visit to catch one. This Manhattan museum also offers many family and educational programs. The “Re-Creating Radio Workshop”, teaches children (over 9) and adults to produce and re-create old time radio dramas, with the use of scripts, music and a variety of sound effects. This is a fun way for parents and children to experience media in the way that their grandparents used to enjoy the new world of multi-media. The Forney Transportation Museum is a one-of-a-kind collection of over 500 exhibits relating to historical transportation. It began with antique cars, but soon expanded to include vehicles of all kinds. Some of these are familiar, while others spark the imagination.

America's most decorated Battleship is now the area's most exciting museum, open for tours, events and overnight encampments. Exploring “BB62” is experiencing history in a whole new way. Not only do you see exhibits of artifacts from the ship’s past, but you are put into the exhibit as you go through the tour route. Sit in the chair from which Admiral Halsey commanded the fleet. Stretch out on the bunks where the sailors slept. Climb into the 16” gun turret and learn how the projectiles were loaded.

Historic Richmond Town is a living history museum located in Staten Island, New York. It is a complex of buildings and structures that have been carefully preserved to give visitors a glimpse into the past and a better understanding of the history and culture of Staten Island and New York City. The museum features over 30 historical structures, including a colonial-era courthouse, a one-room schoolhouse, and a variety of homes and businesses that were once located throughout Staten Island. Created by Isamu Noguchi (1904-1988), The Noguchi Museum opened in 1985, presenting a comprehensive collection of the artist's works in stone, metal, wood, and clay, as well as models for public projects and gardens, dance sets, and Akari Light Sculptures. The Museum--chartered as The Noguchi Museum--is housed in thirteen galleries within a converted factory building and encircles a garden containing major granite and basalt sculptures.
After a two-and-a-half year long renovation, the Museum re-opened in June 2004 with the addition of an education center, a new cafe and shop, more adequate handicap accessibility, and a heating and cooling system that allows the Museum to remain open year-round. Besides launching its first-ever program of temporary exhibitions, the Museum has created a special gallery devoted to Noguchi's celebrated work in interior design.

The Summerville-Dorchester Museum is located in the former Summerville Police station. It is a tribute to the vision of our Board of Directors, members and volunteers; and is a successful example of recycling an old building into a useful community facility.

This 80,000 square foot Museum opened in August 2003 with main galleries featuring contemporary Western American art. Other galleries feature Civil War art, Presidential portraits and letters, Western movie posters, and Western illustration. Sagebrush Ranch is an interactive gallery where children of all ages can learn about art and Western America. The Museum’s Special Exhibit Gallery hosts three to five temporary exhibits per year.
The Museum Store offers books on art and the West, as well as prints and other items featuring Western American art images. The Café offers light lunches to guests and members visiting the Museum. A multimedia theatre, with seating for 60, shows the orientation film “The American West” every 20 minutes.

The mission of the Frederic Remington Art Museum is to collect, exhibit, preserve and interpret the art and archives of Frederic Remington. We foster an appreciation for and understanding of the artist by educating our audience in the visual arts, providing a context for Remington's art and times, and offering hands-on opportunities to individuals of all age groups.
The Frederic Remington Art Museum, located in Ogdensburg, New York, houses a comprehensive collection of original Remington paintings, sketches and sculptures, as well as a broad array of personal effects and correspondence that serve to bring the artist and his vision to life.
Many of Remington's best-known sculptures and oil paintings can be found in the Albert Priest Newell Gallery. Changing exhibits of his North Country and Canadian watercolors, sketches, and illustrations hang in the Addie Priest Newell Gallery. Personal possessions, studio equipment, and memorabilia are displayed throughout the museum.

O Museu Judaico do Rio de Janeiro, fundado em 1977, com a doação de uma menorá (candelabro de sete braços, um dos principais símbolos do judaísmo), é um centro cultural dinâmico, integrado à vida da cidade com atividades estruturadas em torno do binômio preservação da memória/dinamização da cultura judaica.

A Casa do Patrimônio Ferroviário Brasileiro, conhecido como Museu do Trem, administrado pela REDE FERROVIÁRIA FEDERAL, foi inaugurado em fevereiro de 1984. Instalado no antigo galpão de pinturas de carros da Estrada de Ferro Pedro II. São destaques: A BARONEZA, construída na Inglaterra, foi a primeira locomotiva a trafegar no Brasil em 1854. O CARRO IMPERIAL que foi fabricado em 1886, na Bélgica, para servir ao imperador D. Pedro II; O CARRO DO REI ALBERTO, que fazia parte da composição adaptada exclusivamente para servir ao Rei da Bélgica, em 1921, por ocasião da sua visita ao Brasil e O CARRO PRESIDENCIAL que serviu a Getulio Vargas na década de 30. O Museu Aeroespacial foi inaugurado em 18 de outubro de 1976. A importância dessa criação deve-se à necessidade de preservação e divulgação do material aeronáutico e documentos históricos para as futuras gerações. Situado no Campo dos Afonsos, "Berço da Aviação Militar", atualmente o Museu Aeroespacial integra o Campus da Universidade da Força Aérea – UNIFA. O Museu Aeroespacial recebe, em média, 10.000 mil visitantes por ano, com tipologia e faixa etária variadas. Desde o estudante que vem só ou em grupos escolares, até o mais aficionado pesquisador sobre o assunto, são freqüentadores assíduos do Museu, com objetivos diferentes, mas sempre com grande interesse, já que aviação desperta ao público em geral, uma grande atração.

O Arquivo Histórico Judaico de Pernambuco instalou-se, em dezembro de 2001, no Museu Sinagoga Kahal Zur Israel. Responsável pelas ações museológicas do espaço, constituiu-se como uma associação civil de direito privado, sem fins lucrativos, filiado à Federação Israelita de Pernambuco.
É parceiro também das unidades do Museu Judaico do Rio de Janeiro , Arquivo Histórico Judaico Brasileiro em São Paulo, Instituto Histórico Israelita Mineiro em Belo Horizonte-MG , Instituto Marc Chagal em Porto Alegre –RS, entre outros.

A missão do Museu da Pessoa é contribuir para tornar a história de cada pessoa valorizada pela sociedade, visando um mundo mais justo e democrático baseado na história de pessoas de todos os segmentos da sociedade.

Uma instituição sem fins lucrativos, aberta ao público, e que se destina à coleta, inventário, documentação, preservação, segurança, exposição e comunicação de seu acervo. Vinculado à Pró-Reitoria de Pesquisa e Pós-Graduação (PRPPG), o MA é um órgão suplementar da UFG, e tem em seu caráter dinâmico e pedagógico, suas principais características.

O Paço Imperial é um Centro Cultural com rica programação artística, localizado na Praça XV de Novembro, no centro histórico da cidade, no prédio considerado o mais importante dos edifícios civis coloniais do Brasil. Foi primeiro a residência dos governadores da Capitania do Rio de Janeiro e depois passou a ser a casa de despachos, sucessivamente, do Vice-Rei do Brasil, do Rei de Portugal Dom João VI e dos imperadores do Brasil. Em sua restauração, na reconstituição da fachada, optou-se pela feição colonial, adquirida particularmente no período da ocupação pela Família Real Portuguesa, mas foram preservadas marcas e formas de vários outros momentos históricos. O Paço Imperial conta com uma diversificada programação de artes plásticas, cinema, teatro, música, biblioteca, atividades educativas, seminários, serviços de lojas e restaurantes. Percorrê-lo é fazer uma releitura do tempo inscrito em seus espaços, relacionando-os com épocas e fatos ocorridos. As exposições permanentes também são um ótimo programa cultural.

O Museu do Índio, órgão científico-cultural da Fundação Nacional do Índio (Funai), foi criado por Darcy Ribeiro, no Rio de Janeiro, em 1953. É a única instituição oficial no país exclusivamente dedicada às culturas indígenas. Seu objetivo é divulgar uma imagem correta, atualizada e sem preconceitos dessas sociedades junto a variados públicos, despertando, assim, o interesse pela causa indígena. Realiza, também, estudos e pesquisas para ampliar e aprofundar os conhecimentos sobre esses povos..

O Museu da Maré é o primeiro museu do país localizado dentro de uma favela, e foi criado pela própria comunidade, com o apoio do Ministério da Cultura, através do programa Cultura Viva. Inaugurado no dia 8 de maio de 2006. Seu acervo, em construção permanente, é formado por fotografias, documentos, objetos do cotidiano dos moradores da favela e por documentos e objetos históricos sobre a Maré, pesquisados em arquivos públicos da cidade. Sua exposição permanente é dividida em doze “tempos” não-cronológicos, onde os espaços contam a história dos moradores, imigrantes do Nordeste em sua maioria, e episódios da resistência social das comunidades.

Além de sua sede, Reserva Biológica e Jardim Botânico situados dentro do Parque Estadual das Fontes do Ipiranga, bairro da Água Funda, na capital do Estado de São Paulo, o Instituto de Botânica possui duas outras unidades de conservação, representando os biomas principais do Estado: mata Atlântica (Reserva Biológica de Paranapiacaba) e cerrado (Reserva Biológica e Estação Experimental de Moji Guaçu).

The DOCKYARD MUSEUM in the Naval Officer's House interprets the story of English Harbour and of the people that toiled in this famous Georgian Royal Naval Yard. It also explains the 20th century return of sailing ships and the aims and aspirations of Nelson's Dockyard National Park. There is also a small "Nelson's Room" with a life sized portrait of Nelson researched through archaeological means.
