Greenville Mall is a shopping mall located in Greenville, North Carolina which has over 500,000 square feet. It is located at the corner of Greenville and Arlington Boulevards.
Greenville Mall was originally built as a strip center named Pitt Plaza. The center was enclosed in the 1980s as a response to construction of Carolina East Mall and named The Plaza. It was subsequently renamed Colonial Mall Greenville when purchased by Colonial Properties Trust. The purchase of the mall by GG&A in 2007 resulted in the name being changed to Greenville Mall. The large courtyard outside the Bloomingdale's building is occupied annually by a large Christmas tree. About a week before Christmas, every year, the tree is lit, preceded by extravagant holiday performances. The trees are taken from a private timber area near Mount Shasta, and shipped to Fashion Island in several pieces, which are then re-assembled using steel rods and a large crane.
