Peter Dubacher started the Berkshire Bird Paradise, a certified not for profit company back in 1972 as a "labor of love." It has grown into one of the largest bird sanctuaries in the country. The sanctuary has evolved into an outdoors educational institution, where students on field trips with their parents or on college internship programs can learn about birds. The sanctuary is also a small botanical garden with hundreds of plants and exotic flowers .We are constantly improving our grounds, with the help of great volunteers.

In 1884, a wealthy widow named Sarah L. Winchester began a construction project of such magnitude that it was to occupy the lives of carpenters and craftsmen until her death thirty-eight years later. The Victorian mansion, designed and built by the Winchester Rifle heiress, is filled with so many unexplained oddities, that it has come to be known as the Winchester Mystery House.

Sempre controvertido, escreveu e pensou cinema. Queria uma arte engajada ao pensamento e pregava uma nova estética, uma revisão crítica da realidade. Era visto pela ditadura militar que se instalou no país, em 1964, como um elemento subversivo.

O XKart é um grupo de kart amador do Rio de Janeiro, fundado em 2003, que realiza campeonatos de kart indoor. Apesar do que possa parecer, o termo "kart indoor", não se refere a competições em pista coberta. Esse termo atualmente é sinônimo de kart de aluguel, ou seja, karts alugados e mantidos pelos próprios kartódromos, independentemente de a pista ser coberta ou não

Com uma área de 138 mil metros quadrados, mais de 2.100 animais entre répteis, mamíferos e aves e cerca de 400 espécies, o zoológico do Rio é o mais antigo do Brasil. Possui o maior plantel de primatas brasileiros, a maior coleção de aves expostas do país e, no setor de fauna, reproduzem-se espécies raras e ameaçadas de extinção como o urubu rei, a ararajuba e o mico leão dourado.

Construído em três anos, de 1936 a 1939, o prédio da ABI, destaca-se inclusive por ter sido nele utilizada pela primeira vez a solução apresentada pelo legendário Le Corbusier para o problema do excesso de luz - o “brise-soleil”, quebra-sol através de persianas de concreto na fachada.
O edifício-sede da ABI foi tombado pelo Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico Estadual em 1965. Sua principal característica é a unidade, que dá a tônica do conjunto, tanto nas soluções plásticas quanto nas estruturais.
A história da fundação da ABI se confunde com a de seu perseverante idealizador Gustavo de Lacerda. Criada em 7 de abril de 1908, seu principal objetivo era assegurar à classe jornalística os direitos assistenciais e tornar-se um centro poderoso de ação. Segundo o próprio Lacerda, a Associação deveria ser um campo neutro em que se pudessem abrigar todos os trabalhadores da imprensa.

Na minha vida, meu sucesso como empresário foi, em grande parte, fruto do apoio que sempre recebi da minha gente, dos meus colaboradores e da permanente companhia do meu Pai Antônio e do Tio Ricardo. Assim, para resgatar parte do que de todos recebi, com desapego pelas coisas materiais e coragem indispensável para enfrentar os desafios, pude ver o nascimento desta obra, ao fincar, aqui, em São João da Várzea, terras de João Fernandes Vieira, as bases do Instituto Ricardo Brennand em homenagem ao meu Tio. Deus quis que tivesse ao meu lado, Graça, mulher dedicada, que me deu oito filhos, companheiros do dia-a-dia, solidários com meus sonhos e que serão meus sucessores e responsáveis pela manutenção e conservação deste Patrimônio Cultural de Estudos Brasileiros, em terra do meu Pernambuco.
