The National D-Day Museum is made up of four sections, each containing a different exhibit. A variety of artifacts, testimonies and documents, particularly those chronicling the World War II period, are on display. There is a permanent exhibit, as well as temporary exhibits and electronic exhibits, all of which transport visitors back to that time in history. In addition, two movies are screened several times daily in the museum's Malcolm S. Forbes Theatre - these are 'Price For Peace' and 'D-Day Remembered'.

O conjunto arquitetônico que abriga o Museu desenvolveu-se a partir do Forte de Santiago, na Ponta do Calabouço, um dos pontos estratégicos para a defesa da cidade do Rio de Janeiro.
Visando recuperar a arquitetura original, ampliar espaços destinados ao público, aprimorar os serviços oferecidos aos visitantes, democratizar o acesso dos mais diversos segmentos da sociedade e viabilizar uma circulação e um percurso adequados ao discurso museográfico, o conjunto arquitetônico que abriga o Museu passou, entre 2003 e 2006, por importantes obras de restauração e modernização.

A visita ao Museu inicia-se no Centro de Recepção, destinado a orientar e informar os visitantes. Esta estação é o ponto de embarque do Trenzinho da Ciência, o início da aventura. Espaço de integração entre ciência, cultura e sociedade, o Museu da Vida tem por objetivo informar e educar em ciência, saúde e tecnologia de forma lúdica e criativa, através de exposições permanentes, atividades interativas, multimídias, teatro, vídeo e laboratórios. Por ser vinculado à Fundação Oswaldo Cruz, o Museu assume características únicas, refletindo a cultura, a missão e o compromisso social da instituição. The Godwin-Ternbach Museum is a professional not-for-profit art institution situated on the Flushing, Queens campus of Queens College, the City University of New York. A comprehensive permanent collection of 3,500 objects from all cultures, ranging from the ancient world to the present day, is used to organize exhibitions and programs as cultural and educational vehicles for students, faculty and public audiences alike. Presentations of contemporary and historical significance alternate between showcases of the collection and special exhibitions. Founded in 1981 by art historian Frances Godwin and noted art restorer Joseph Ternbach, the Museum's mission has grown with the changing times from a teaching museum for the benefit of art students to a public museum that reaches out beyond the college campus.

Spring 2012 has a special focus on Chinese architecture and features a book signing for the novel “Chinese Architecture and the Beaux-Arts.” This event includes an in-depth lecture on this fascinating subject and is to be used as a catalyst to better understanding the development of Chinese architecture. The China Institute is one of New York’s best and only links to our neighbor to the east and should be a destination of anyone looking to expand their minds and better their understanding of the Chinese people.

The National Postal Museum, a Smithsonian Institution museum, is located in the old Post Office building next to Union Station in Washington, D.C. The Museum was created by an agreement between the Smithsonian Institution and the United States Postal Service in 1990 and opened to the public in 1993.

The goal of the Pacific Tsunami Museum is to promote public tsunami education for the people of Hawaii and the Pacific Region. The museum will also preserve the social and cultural history of Hawaii and promote economic development on the island of Hawaii as well as statewide. The museum will serve as a living memorial to those who lost their lives in past tsunami events.

A true "living" museum of antique aviation located in Rhinebeck, New York. We present one of the largest collections of early aeroplanes in the world, many of which regularly take to the air in all their glory during our weekend airshows. The Aerodrome features aeroplanes, automobiles, motorcycles, early engines and memorabilia from 1900-1935. In addition to the airshows, there are four museum buildings displaying aircraft form the Pioneer Era, World War I and the Lindbergh/Barnstorming era. These were the golden years of aviation.

O Museu da Imagem e do Som (MIS) foi inaugurado em 3 de setembro de 1965 pelo então governador do estado da Guanabara, Carlos Lacerda. O MIS lançou um gênero pioneiro de museu audiovisual que seria seguido por outras capitais e cidades brasileiras, além de ter se constituído num centro cultural de vanguarda nas décadas de 60 e 70 do século XX, lugar de encontros e lançamentos de idéias e novos comportamentos. Além de abrigar importantes arquivos que atendem aos interesses de um público pesquisador amplo e diversificado, o prédio da Fundação Museu da Imagem e do Som é, em si mesmo, uma das mais belas peças de sua coleção, constituindo um exemplar histórico raro dos edifícios construídos para abrigar a Exposição do Centenário da Independência do Brasil, realizada em 1922. Localizado na Praça XV, e inserido na Zona Especial do Corredor Cultural da cidade do Rio de Janeiro, junto com o Museu Histórico Nacional, o Museu Naval, o Paço Imperial, a Casa França-Brasil e o Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil, em 1989 o Instituto Estadual de Patrimônio Cultural (Inepac) do Governo do Estado do Rio de Janeiro promoveu o tombamento do prédio. Em outubro de 1990, pela Lei nº 1.714, o MIS foi transformado numa fundação, dirigida por um presidente.

It might seem that an institution like a museum is carved in stone, but since its founding in 1912, the Delaware Art Museum has actually changed a great deal. Our Centennial Timeline, installed in the Museum’s Orientation Hallway, is a look at how things were and how they have changed, both here at the Museum and in the community that we serve. To put the Museum’s historical achievements in context, the Timeline mirrors notable Museum milestones with important local and world events.
A century ago, the Museum started life with an original purchase of approximately 100 Howard Pyle paintings. That collection has grown to include 12,000 works of art by great American masters such as Winslow Homer, artists of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, and well-known American illustrators. The Museum’s name and physical space have also changed considerably. Originally called the Wilmington Society of the Fine Arts, and then the Delaware Art Center, the Museum officially became the Delaware Art Museum in the early 1970s. And although we spent decades traveling around—with no permanent gallery space—the Museum now encompasses 80,000 square feet of exhibition and administrative space, four studio art classrooms, and a sprawling 9-acre sculpture park—the first of its kind in the region.

Todo último sábado de cada mês, o museu abre das 14 horas às 17 horas para o ‘Sábado da Ciência’, com entrada gratuita. O Paço Imperial é um Centro Cultural com rica programação artística, localizado na Praça XV de Novembro, no centro histórico da cidade, no prédio considerado o mais importante dos edifícios civis coloniais do Brasil. Foi primeiro a residência dos governadores da Capitania do Rio de Janeiro e depois passou a ser a casa de despachos, sucessivamente, do Vice-Rei do Brasil, do Rei de Portugal Dom João VI e dos imperadores do Brasil. Em sua restauração, na reconstituição da fachada, optou-se pela feição colonial, adquirida particularmente no período da ocupação pela Família Real Portuguesa, mas foram preservadas marcas e formas de vários outros momentos históricos. O Paço Imperial conta com uma diversificada programação de artes plásticas, cinema, teatro, música, biblioteca, atividades educativas, seminários, serviços de lojas e restaurantes. Percorrê-lo é fazer uma releitura do tempo inscrito em seus espaços, relacionando-os com épocas e fatos ocorridos. As exposições permanentes também são um ótimo programa cultural.

O Museu Judaico do Rio de Janeiro, fundado em 1977, com a doação de uma menorá (candelabro de sete braços, um dos principais símbolos do judaísmo), é um centro cultural dinâmico, integrado à vida da cidade com atividades estruturadas em torno do binômio preservação da memória/dinamização da cultura judaica.

A Casa do Patrimônio Ferroviário Brasileiro, conhecido como Museu do Trem, administrado pela REDE FERROVIÁRIA FEDERAL, foi inaugurado em fevereiro de 1984. Instalado no antigo galpão de pinturas de carros da Estrada de Ferro Pedro II. São destaques: A BARONEZA, construída na Inglaterra, foi a primeira locomotiva a trafegar no Brasil em 1854. O CARRO IMPERIAL que foi fabricado em 1886, na Bélgica, para servir ao imperador D. Pedro II; O CARRO DO REI ALBERTO, que fazia parte da composição adaptada exclusivamente para servir ao Rei da Bélgica, em 1921, por ocasião da sua visita ao Brasil e O CARRO PRESIDENCIAL que serviu a Getulio Vargas na década de 30. O Museu Aeroespacial foi inaugurado em 18 de outubro de 1976. A importância dessa criação deve-se à necessidade de preservação e divulgação do material aeronáutico e documentos históricos para as futuras gerações. Situado no Campo dos Afonsos, "Berço da Aviação Militar", atualmente o Museu Aeroespacial integra o Campus da Universidade da Força Aérea – UNIFA. O Museu Aeroespacial recebe, em média, 10.000 mil visitantes por ano, com tipologia e faixa etária variadas. Desde o estudante que vem só ou em grupos escolares, até o mais aficionado pesquisador sobre o assunto, são freqüentadores assíduos do Museu, com objetivos diferentes, mas sempre com grande interesse, já que aviação desperta ao público em geral, uma grande atração.

The DOCKYARD MUSEUM in the Naval Officer's House interprets the story of English Harbour and of the people that toiled in this famous Georgian Royal Naval Yard. It also explains the 20th century return of sailing ships and the aims and aspirations of Nelson's Dockyard National Park. There is also a small "Nelson's Room" with a life sized portrait of Nelson researched through archaeological means.
