Beneath its identity as the nation’s capital and a tourist destination, Ottawa is a working class town. From its early days as Bytown to the amalgamated City, Ottawa has always been home to working class people and their families – people who created our city as we know it today. Their stories – about ordinary people like stonemasons, teachers, nurses, carpenters, and government workers – are often those forgotten by history books and museums.
The Workers’ Heritage Centre (WHC) museum will fill that gap in Ottawa’s museum network. As a museum and interpretation centre it will recognize, honour, preserve and interpret the experiences and contributions of working people – their work, home life, and their cultural and political contributions to our city. These are the stories of majority of the city’s population at any given time, and for the first time they will be heard in a museum of their own.

The Summerville-Dorchester Museum is located in the former Summerville Police station. It is a tribute to the vision of our Board of Directors, members and volunteers; and is a successful example of recycling an old building into a useful community facility.

Plans for this future museum include programs to enrich the lives of students of all grade levels. The automobile is an extraordinarily rich object, embracing science, mathematics, history, foreign languages, aesthetics, and civil and social issues. Students, scouts, community groups, and special audiences will benefit from educational programs. Hands on exhibits will be developed for all age groups.
For the adult population there will be lecture series, such as some on the history of the automobile, car collecting, racing, and the impact of the automobile in New Jersey, the country, and our society. Also, the museum will sponsor workshops that will provide fundamental knowledge about the parts of a car, how it works, and basic maintenance techniques.

The Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry (CML) is Charleston’s first hands-on learning environment designed just for children ages 3 months to 12 years and their families. O site Ciência Hoje On-line é uma iniciativa pioneira de divulgação científica na internet brasileira. Além de disponibilizar parte do conteúdo das publicações do ICH, o site publica notícias exclusivas atualizadas diariamente que oferecem ao leitor uma cobertura dinâmica da atualidade científica no Brasil e no mundo.
Em 2007, foi lançado, em parceria com o Centro Brasileiro de Pesquisas Físicas, o livro Física Hoje - Uma aventura pela natureza: dos átomos ao universo, que reúne 11 artigos escritos por renomados pesquisadores brasileiros e originalmente publicados na revista Ciência Hoje ao longo de 2005, em comemoração ao Ano Mundial da Física.
O ICH atua também na divulgação científica em meios audiovisuais: o Instituto promoveu a realização do programa de televisão Tome Ciência, uma série semanal que abordou de forma acessível temas de ciência e tecnologia.. Em outubro de 2004, o ICH se uniu à Rede Globo na campanha Ciência Vale a Pena.

Construído em 1914, com o objetivo de reforçar a defesa da Baía de Guanabara, o Forte de Copacabana oferece aos seus visitantes muitas curiosidades e atrações. No Museu Histórico do Exército, fatos marcantes estão registrados através de exposições, exibições de vídeo, maquetes e, até, um setor interativo, original e bastante visitado pelos freqüentadores do Forte. The Museum boasts habitat groups of African, Asian and North American mammals, the full-size model of a Blue Whale suspended in the Milstein Family Hall of Ocean Life (reopened in 2003), the 62-foot Haida carved and painted war canoe from the Pacific Northwest, and the "Star of India", the largest blue sapphire in the world. The circuit of an entire floor is devoted to vertebrate evolution, including the world-famous dinosaurs.
The Museum's anthropological collections are also outstanding: Halls of Asian Peoples and of Pacific Peoples, of Man in Africa, Native Americans in the United States collections, general Native American collections, and collections from Mexico and Central America.
The Hayden Planetarium, connected to the museum, is now part of the Rose Center for Earth and Space, housed in a glass cube containing the spherical Space Theater, designed by James Stewart Polshek. The Center was opened February 19, 2000. Source

Here you will see one of the world's largest TITANIC exhibit. A 28 foot detailed model is the centerpiece in the collection of artifacts and memorabilia. The famous R. M. S. Titanic, so carefully designed to be called "unsinkable", on her maiden voyage took 1500 people with her to a watery grave on April 14, 1912. The museum's collection includes photographs taken by the Wood's Hole Oceanographic Institution, a recorded account of the tragedy by a Titanic survivor, and a video tape of the vessel's discovery. The Marine Museum's newest exhibit, The Andrea Dora, is now open. This exhibit includes photographs, videos, artifacts and a model of the Italian liner which sank off the coast of Nantucket in the summer of 1956.

O Museu Casa de Portinari foi instalado e inaugurado em 14 de março de 1970, constituindo-se de uma casa principal, dois anexos e uma capela.
A sua entidade mantenedora é a Secretaria de Estado da Cultura, estando especificamente vinculado ao DEMA - Departamento de Museus e Arquivos da referida Secretaria.
A inclusão do Museu Casa de Portinari na Rede de Museus da Secretaria da Cultura do Estado deu-se através do Decreto de 08 de abril de 1970.

O Museu Inimá de Paula está localizado no município brasileiro de de Belo Horizonte. Foi aberto em 29 de abril de 2008. O prédio, inaugurado em 1932 e revitalizado para se tornar um museu, é obra do arquiteto italiano Rafaello Berti, um dos fundadores da Escola de Arquitetura da UFMG. O governo estadual, proprietário do prédio, o cedeu em regime comodato, por 20 anos, à Fundação Inimá de Paula. Localiza-se no prédio do antigo Clube Belo Horizonte e Cine Guarani, na confluência de Rua da Bahia com Rua Guajajaras e Avenida Álvares Cabral. O museu homenageia o pintor mineiro que lhe dá nome, com dezenas de sua obras expostas permanentemente no segundo e terceiro andares, enquanto no primeiro fica uma filial do Café Kahlua e no porão, um auditório de 151 lugares. Destacam-se os auto-retratos de Inimá, numa sala especial. No último andar são exibidas exposições itinerantes, que devem ocorrer duas vezes ao ano e pretendem trazer à capital mineira obras de importantes artistas brasileiros e estrangeiros.

O Museu Judaico do Rio de Janeiro, fundado em 1977, com a doação de uma menorá (candelabro de sete braços, um dos principais símbolos do judaísmo), é um centro cultural dinâmico, integrado à vida da cidade com atividades estruturadas em torno do binômio preservação da memória/dinamização da cultura judaica.

O Centro Cultural do Banco do Brasil (CCBB) do Rio de Janeiro é um dos quatro CCBBs do país, que também existem nas capitais Brasília, São Paulo e Belo Horizonte. Instalado no número 66 da Rua Primeiro de Março, o Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil é uma das jóias arquitetônicas da Cidade. Seus espaços, organizados e adornados com elementos neoclássicos, abrigam três teatros, sala de cinema, sala de vídeo, cinco salas de exposições, biblioteca com 140 mil títulos, museu e arquivo histórico, videoteca e salão para conferências e palestras. O freqüentador dispõe ainda de restaurante, casa de chá, bombonière e loja de produtos culturais.

Ali viveu Francisco José de Oliveira Viana, um dos maiores nomes da sociologia nacional, nascido em 1883 e falecido em 1951. Sua biblioteca, especializada em sociologia, história, política e economia, consta de 15 mil obras que servem de material de consulta.

O Museu Nacional/UFRJ está vinculado ao Ministério da Educação. É a mais antiga instituição científica do Brasil e o maior museu de história natural e antropológica da América Latina. Criado por D. João VI, em 06 de junho de 1818 e, inicialmente, sediado no Campo de Sant’Anna, serviu para atender aos interesses de promoção do progresso cultural e econômico no país. Alojar-se no Paço de São Cristóvão, a partir de 1892 - residência da Família Imperial brasileira até 1889 - deu ao Museu um caráter ímpar frente às outras instituições do gênero.

O museu foi a residência do fundador da República brasileira, Benjamin Constant, adquirido pelo patrimônio público logo após o seu falecimento, em 1891. Está localizado em uma área verde de 10.500m², no bairro de Santa Teresa. Possui uma exposição permanente de objetos, obras de arte e mobiliário que recriam o modo de vida do final do Século XIX e início do Século XX, época em que viveu Benjamin Constant.

O Museu do Índio, órgão científico-cultural da Fundação Nacional do Índio (Funai), foi criado por Darcy Ribeiro, no Rio de Janeiro, em 1953. É a única instituição oficial no país exclusivamente dedicada às culturas indígenas. Seu objetivo é divulgar uma imagem correta, atualizada e sem preconceitos dessas sociedades junto a variados públicos, despertando, assim, o interesse pela causa indígena. Realiza, também, estudos e pesquisas para ampliar e aprofundar os conhecimentos sobre esses povos..

The DOCKYARD MUSEUM in the Naval Officer's House interprets the story of English Harbour and of the people that toiled in this famous Georgian Royal Naval Yard. It also explains the 20th century return of sailing ships and the aims and aspirations of Nelson's Dockyard National Park. There is also a small "Nelson's Room" with a life sized portrait of Nelson researched through archaeological means.
