A very intriguing throwback to the past is the Queens County Farm Museum. Located on the largest undisturbed tract of farmland, the museum is the only continuously worked farm site left in New York City. Visitors have an opportunity to forget the busy life of the city and instead enjoy the rural atmosphere through a variety of activities designed to give patrons an idea of how farm life used to be in New York. The museum itself is rich in activities, as visitors can do just about anything involving farm life. Interacting with livestock, a working greenhouse and guided exploration of the historic farm buildings are all part of the experience. The museum also plays host to many guest presentations, including representatives of the Native Americans originally in New York, the Queens County Fair and several antique car and motorcycle road shows. Starting in Spring 2012, the farm is offering hayrides which encompasses the entire compound and make you feel like one of the farmers back in the agricultural heyday. The Cranbury Historical and Preservation Society was organized in 1967 and incorporated on November 17, 1970. It is governed by an Executive Board, composed of officers, trustees and committee chairpersons.
Its museum was originally built in 1834 by Dr. Garret P. Voorhees, with additional rooms added added from 1850 to 1862 by the Isaac Snedeker Family. The Historical Society acquired the house in May, 1972 and volunteers transformed it in six months from a simple house into a museum.
The many original architectural elements, (including window sashes with early glass, wide pine floor boards, original paint), its collections of 18th and 19th century furnishings, Indian artifacts, and local memorabilia, radiate a sense of Cranbury past. Follow on Twitter: @cranburyhistory

The Forney Transportation Museum is a one-of-a-kind collection of over 500 exhibits relating to historical transportation. It began with antique cars, but soon expanded to include vehicles of all kinds. Some of these are familiar, while others spark the imagination.

Folk Art is an award-winning publication of the American Folk Art Museum. The editorial content is geared toward collectors, scholars, and the museum community interested in traditional and contemporary American folk and decorative arts. The first new PHMC museum in twenty years, Erie Maritime Museum opened its doors May 21, 1998. As homeport of U.S. Brig Niagara, Erie Maritime Museum presents the story of Niagara as the reconstructed flagship of Pennsylvania and the warship that won the Battle of Lake Erie in the War of 1812. Offering a wide range of multi-media and interactive exhibits and coupled with lively interpretive programs, Erie Maritime Museum vividly illustrates Niagara's history and the region's rich maritime heritage.

There are very few places in the world that showcase an abundance of African influence and culture quite like Harlem. In the midst of Harlem lies the Studio Museum which houses work influenced by the African heritage and sets forth a dynamic exchange of ideas and society for all who visit. Inside this multi-story loft, patrons will find not only African artwork and sculptures, but also a plethora of photographs, writings and film all dedicated to enhancing your awareness about the beauty and rich cultures of the African people. The Studio Museum takes this learning experience a step further by offering a wide variety of education and public programs. In 1993, with the success of the Just For Laughs Festival, Gilbert Rozon created a place to recognize laughter and humour as cultural phenomena - the Just For Laughs Museum (JFLM). The Museum's history is marked by many challenging happenings - some sidesplitting, some discouraging, but none boring! Nonetheless, the Museum lives on!
The Just For Laughs Museum is a venue for thematic exhibitions, a multi-functional space for the presentation of public, private or professional events, and a media documentation centre for the promotion, research and distribution of information about laugher, humour and fantasy. It celebrates these aspects of the human condition using a fun approach that appeals to a diverse audience, including children and young people.

Take a step back in time. Visit the authentically restored and furnished 1750 home of the Stuart family and learn about the life of one of America's best-known portraitists, Gilbert Stuart. The Gilbert Stuart Birthplace and Museum is situated on 23 acres in the woods of Saunderstown, Rhode Island on a beautiful millpond and stream.

O Museu Oceanográfico "Prof. Eliézer de Carvalho Rios" deu origem ao Complexo de Museus e Centros Associados da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande. Fundado em 8 de setembro de 1953, mantém uma exposição pública sobre a vida e a dinâmica dos oceanos, apresentada em painéis, maquetes, aquários e diversos equipamentos utilizados em pesquisas oceanográficas. Nos painéis das salas do Museu são apresentadas várias conchas, que enriquecem a sua coleção de moluscos (atualmente com 51.000 lotes). Esta coleção, considerada a mais importante da América do Sul, foi organizada pelo Diretor Fundador do Museu Oceanográfico, o Professor Eliézer de Carvalho Rios.

Tradição e ruptura sempre fizeram parte da história e da atitude do Museu da Imagem e do Som para sedimentar sua trajetória e desenhar seus objetivos. A Casa do Patrimônio Ferroviário Brasileiro, conhecido como Museu do Trem, administrado pela REDE FERROVIÁRIA FEDERAL, foi inaugurado em fevereiro de 1984. Instalado no antigo galpão de pinturas de carros da Estrada de Ferro Pedro II. São destaques: A BARONEZA, construída na Inglaterra, foi a primeira locomotiva a trafegar no Brasil em 1854. O CARRO IMPERIAL que foi fabricado em 1886, na Bélgica, para servir ao imperador D. Pedro II; O CARRO DO REI ALBERTO, que fazia parte da composição adaptada exclusivamente para servir ao Rei da Bélgica, em 1921, por ocasião da sua visita ao Brasil e O CARRO PRESIDENCIAL que serviu a Getulio Vargas na década de 30. O Museu do Índio, órgão científico-cultural da Fundação Nacional do Índio (Funai), foi criado por Darcy Ribeiro, no Rio de Janeiro, em 1953. É a única instituição oficial no país exclusivamente dedicada às culturas indígenas. Seu objetivo é divulgar uma imagem correta, atualizada e sem preconceitos dessas sociedades junto a variados públicos, despertando, assim, o interesse pela causa indígena. Realiza, também, estudos e pesquisas para ampliar e aprofundar os conhecimentos sobre esses povos..

Considerado, ainda em vida, o maior compositor das Américas, Heitor Villa-Lobos compôs cerca de 1.000 obras e sua importância reside, entre outros aspectos, no fato de ter reformulado o conceito de nacionalismo musical, tornando-se seu maior expoente. Foi, também, através de Villa-Lobos que a música brasileira se fez representar em outros países, culminando por se universalizar.

A Fundação Casa de Rui Barbosa tem sede na casa onde residiu o grande jurista e intelectual brasileiro entre 1895 e 1923, data de sua morte. Comprada pelo governo brasileiro em 1924, juntamente com a biblioteca, os arquivos e a propriedade intelectual das obras de Rui Barbosa, a casa foi aberta ao público como museu - o primeiro museu-casa do Brasil - em 1930.

A Casa das Rosas, localizada na Avenida Paulista número 37, foi projetada na década de 1930 pelo escritório de Ramos de Azevedo, para ser a residência de sua filha Lúcia, recém casada com o engenheiro Ernesto Dias de Castro. A bela casa, hoje referência na vida do paulistano, foi uma das últimas construções realizadas na avenida.

Além de sua sede, Reserva Biológica e Jardim Botânico situados dentro do Parque Estadual das Fontes do Ipiranga, bairro da Água Funda, na capital do Estado de São Paulo, o Instituto de Botânica possui duas outras unidades de conservação, representando os biomas principais do Estado: mata Atlântica (Reserva Biológica de Paranapiacaba) e cerrado (Reserva Biológica e Estação Experimental de Moji Guaçu).

Detentor de expressivo acervo da memória audiovisual do Estado, o Museu da Imagem e do Som do Ceará (MIS-CE), criado e implementado pela Secretaria da Cultura (Secult), desenvolve uma diversidade de atividades museológicas: ensino, pesquisa, antropologia cultural, cultura popular e expressões audiovisuais. Além do acervo disponibilizado ao usuário, o MIS possui biblioteca especializada (em fase de reorganização), sala de projeção multimídia e espaços expositivos.

Inaugurado em Ouro Preto, em outubro de 1998, o Museu do Oratório apresenta uma magnífica coleção – única em todo o mundo – de 162 oratórios e 300 imagens dos séculos XVII ao XX. As peças do acervo foram doadas ao IPHAN (Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico Nacional) pela colecionadora Angela Gutierrez e são genuinamente brasileiras, principalmente de Minas Gerais. Caracterizando-se pela diversidade de tipos, de tamanhos e de materiais, o acervo oferece detalhes valiosos da arquitetura, pintura, vestuário e costumes da época em que foram produzidos, permitindo uma verdadeira viagem antropológica pela história do Brasil.

The DOCKYARD MUSEUM in the Naval Officer's House interprets the story of English Harbour and of the people that toiled in this famous Georgian Royal Naval Yard. It also explains the 20th century return of sailing ships and the aims and aspirations of Nelson's Dockyard National Park. There is also a small "Nelson's Room" with a life sized portrait of Nelson researched through archaeological means.
