An integral part of the fabric of New York City for 30 years, Battery supports the creative process; educates children in the New York City schools; enriches the general public through local programs and performances, national and international tours, and international arts exchange programs.
Based in Lower Manhattan, Battery Dance Company has produced nearly 100 original dance works choreographed by its founder and artistic director Jonathan Hollander, in collaboration with a diverse array of composers and designers, and its cast of outstanding dancers.

Established in 1986, Deneille's Dance & Exercise Studio opened it's doors with the intension of teaching each and every single student on an individual basis; concentrating on a students particular strenghts and interests offering a complete and quality curriculum in all areas of dance. 23 years later while the world has changed in many ways our standard of excellence remains. Although we have adapted to the modern world, we still insist on teaching and training with a good old fashined touch; that includes knowing every one of our students by their first name and knowing something special about them. Konajilo Luseni is a native of Brooklyn, NY and has been dancing since the age of five. With a dance background spanning genres including modern, jazz, contemporary, hip-hop and African, Kona has choreographed, performed and taught for various children, teen and adult groups in the New York area.
Kona's love for dance set her sights to explore a new style of movement: Salsa/Mambo on2. After a year of basic training at La Salsa De Hoy, her passion for this exciting form of dance led her to seek more advance instruction at Salsa Dance Studio.

A user friendly dance studio whose goal is to teach students the art of social partner dancing by perfecting their basic steps and technique in a non-competitive, positive atmosphere. Our objective is not only to teach dance but to build the students's confidence by implementing a step by step program which allows participants to experience a sense of accomplishment as well as expand their dance skills and fulfill their desired aspirations.

Karine Newborn was born and raised in Paris France where she studied ballet with teachers from the Paris conservatory and The Paris Opera, she also studied jazz, modern, placement and voice. At the age of 15 she started working in some of the most renowned modern jazz companies in Paris and performed in "Cats" (Paris). She continued her career in France until she moved to America to pursue bigger dreams. She worked as a dancer,Choreographer and dance teacher for well over 2 decades, and had the joy of performing in many stage shows ("Golden Boys", "Cats", "Aida" (Broadway) and numerous music videos & movies ("South Pacific" with Glenn Close, "Do You Want To Dance" etc.) trade show industrial (Nike, Asix, Abba & many more).

Rebecca Kelly creates abstract and narrative ballets which convey her humanistic outlook. The works features Kelly's vibrant expression, fusing classical dance with modern forms resulting in an arresting lyrical yet earthy quality. Kelly brings out strong individuality with a culturally diverse group of dancers. Themes range from topical issues about the environment and astute social commentary, to poetical works involving the sheer energy and beauty of the highly skilled dancer and the complex use of the body. Classical line and touching performance, coupled with intense musicality and energy distinguish each of Kelly's works. No matter what topic, Kelly reveals provocative and compelling images, with a directness of expression which easily engages the audience. The Company spends a portion of its summer in a second home in the Adirondack Mountains, where as artists-in-residence in Lake Placid, NY since 1987, it has developed many new ballets.

Ms. King began dancing professionally in 1978 and has been teaching and choreographing since 1986. She directed the dance departments of St. Peter School, St. Mary and Holy Rosary Schools in Jersey City and has taught in Brooklyn at P.S. 315, School of Performing Arts, Poly Prep, Maple Street School, I.S. 62 Performing Arts Department, Flatbush Tompkins, Bridge Street Head Start, and even the Fort Hamilton Army Base. Ms. King has been credited by the Department of Education with developing "one of the most comprehensive dance programs in the district."

An integrated arts enrichment program which provides a meaningful introduction and foundation in the arts for lifetime enhancement. In over sixty public and private schools throughout the New York Metropolitan Area we teach preschool through high school students of all populations including Special Education, Bilingual/ESL, and Gifted/TAG. Expirience Culture and Criativity with Class

The directors, Nana and Fred Albee, have operated a successful dance school for over 36 years. As professional dancers, Nana performed with the American Ballet Theatre, then on Broadway in the production of "The Music Man", where she met Fred. Afterwards, they set out as a dance team and performed as soloists at Radio City Music Hall, appeared in Las Vegas and on national TV shows. Fred has assisted choreographer Danny Daniels ("Pennies from Heaven", "Tap Dance Kid") many times and taught the children's program for the "Tap Dance Kid", where one of his students was Savion Glover. Stars they have taught include: Gilda Radner, Olivia Newton John and Marisa Tomei. Marisa was a student of theirs for many years.

The Frank Ohman School of Ballet was founded in 1979 by Frank Ohman, former soloist at New York City Ballet (NYCB) and is one of the few remaining direct links to the teaching of George Balanchine. Currently located in Commack, the school serves as a training ground for promising young dancers and offers aspiring students the opportunity to learn classical ballet in the tradition of George Balanchine. The Frank Ohman School of Ballet will guide your child from first steps to advanced technique, while instilling joy for this timeless art form. The school is a non-competition, non-recital school focusing on proper classical technique.

There is many dance socials being held weekly, bi-weekly or monthly in Manhattan, Queens, New York, New Jersey and generally in the Tri-State area. There are many interesting people to meet and many partners to dance with. All you need to do is get out here. You are invited to join our Dance Club on our quest to dance socially and have fun everywhere where possible. Before going to socials we suggest to learn at least basic steps of few most popular social dances like: Salsa, Merengue, Foxtrot, Waltz, Tango, Swing and Hustle.
