The original center for dance, musical theatre and performance in Park Slope for both Children and Adults. In September we begin our 34th year of business in this community. Our facility, new construction in 2007, is located at 630 Sackett Street (between 3rd and 4th Avenues) and offers: large, state of the art dance floors - both floating and sprung, central air conditioning and heating, storefront access for ease with strollers, less street congestion for those who drive, public transportation 1 block away on both buses and subway and close to schools in Park Slope, Carroll Gardens and Gowanus neighborhoods.

Our philosophy is to teach them HOW TO DANCE, NOT TO JUST LEARN A DANCE. Our classes are kept at an appropriate size so each child receives individual attention for correction and encouragement. There is many dance socials being held weekly, bi-weekly or monthly in Manhattan, Queens, New York, New Jersey and generally in the Tri-State area. There are many interesting people to meet and many partners to dance with. All you need to do is get out here. You are invited to join our Dance Club on our quest to dance socially and have fun everywhere where possible. Capoeira Angola, an ancient martial art of African origin, is one of the many cultural weapons used to break the chains of enslavement in Brazil. Played close to the ground, Capoeira Angola combines fluid, dance-like movements with kicks, head butts, tripping sweeps and the appearance of playfulness or vulnerability. Music is played on traditional instruments to accompany the players, to teach the rhythmic heart of the art, and also to mask its power. In the eyes of the enslavers it appeared to be a joking and playful acrobatic dance, but eventually its power was realized and Capoeira was outlawed. Death was the penalty paid by those caught playing Capoeira during the slavery era. For almost 400 years Capoeira Angola was taught and practiced in secret, and only in the 1930's did this African martial art become legal to teach and practice.

“Gotta Dance” Studio opened its doors on September 15, 2001. Owner, Miss Terri as she is known by her students, starting dancing at the age of 5 and always dreamed, that one day, she would open her own studio. She continued taking dance classes and was also a member of a local community theatre group for many years. There she was able to learn and develop not only her love of dance, but also her love for music, singing and acting. The performing arts has always been a big part of Miss Terri's life.
Mr. Ron & Miss Terri decided the time had come for them to fulfill the life long “Dream” and together they started searching for the perfect place. Their hope was to find a small studio where students could come and learn to love dance & music while having fun in a friendly and safe environment. Today, they are very proud of their accomplishments and are extremely grateful to all the wonderful families who have touched their lives. Eddie Zawacki began his early training at Balanchine’s School of American Ballet. He has created an entire body of choreographic work on his own company the Zawacki Ballet.
Recently completing a year with ballet icon David Howard at 211 West 61st Street, NYC, they together taught and hosted several dance concerts with guests from NYCB, ABT, and Joffrey Ballet. Ed was a guest teacher at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center in the same facility.
Opening his own dance loft on 23rd Street in Chelsea, NYC served as a teaching facility and performing space for workshops, and choreographic projects.
Returning from London, Paris, and LA made him one of the most sought after men in the business, and has put him on the map as one of the most gifted teachers, and choreographers of his generation.
