A Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, participando do processo de valorização da cidade como centro de produção do saber inaugurou, em junho de 1995, a Casa da Ciência - Centro Cultural de Ciência e Tecnologia da UFRJ, espaço com 3 mil m2, explorando as diversas áreas do conhecimento através de linguagens variadas - teatro, música, oficinas, cursos, palestras, seminários e audiovisual.
As grandes atrações da Casa têm sido as exposições e mostras, mesclando um público bastante variado, que vai desde crianças em idade pré-escolar até grupos de terceira idade.
O visitante é atraído pela diversidade dos temas apresentados, pela beleza plástica das exposições e pela possibilidade de entrar em contato com um mundo novo, onde ele é o personagem principal.

”O Monumento aos Mortos da Segunda Grande Guerra Mundial, também conhecido como Monumento aos Pracinhas, localiza-se no Aterro do Flamengo, no centro da cidade do Rio de Janeiro. O monumento foi inaugurado em 1960 para abrigar os restos mortais dos soldados brasileiros mortos na Segunda Guerra que, até então, estavam depositados no cemitério de Pistóia, na Itália. Como pode ser visto neste vídeo, o conjunto é integrado por três obras de arte: uma escultura de metal homenageando a Força Aérea Brasileira. Outra de granito, homenageando os soldados das três armas e um painel de azulejo em homenagem aos mortos no mar. Detalhe: a plataforma que se eleva a 31 metros de altura empregou, pela primeira vez no Brasil, o concreto aparente.”

O Arquivo Nacional, criado em 1838, é o órgão central do Sistema de Gestão de Documentos de Arquivos-SIGA, da administração pública federal. Integrante da estrutura básica da Casa Civil da Presidência da República, está diretamente subordinado à Secretaria-Executiva.
Tem por finalidade implementar e acompanhar a política nacional de arquivos, definida pelo Conselho Nacional de Arquivos - Conarq, por meio da gestão, do recolhimento, do tratamento técnico, da preservação e da divulgação do patrimônio documental do País, garantindo pleno acesso à informação, visando apoiar as decisões governamentais de caráter político-administrativo, o cidadão na defesa de seus direitos e de incentivar a produção de conhecimento científico e cultural.

Fundado em 1932, o Jockey Club Brasileiro teve como primeiro presidente Linneo de Paula Machado, que foi o responsável pela construção do Hipódromo da Gávea, a maior obra da cidade na época. Lá é realizado anualmente o Grande Prêmio Brasil, a prova de maior expressão do turfe nacional, também famosa pela elegância dos trajes dos visitantes da festa. O Jockey Club também possui uma sede social no Centro do Rio de Janeiro, localizada num prédio de 12 andares, projeto assinado pelo arquiteto Lúcio Costa. As dependências são amplas e espaçosas, contando com 363 salas para escritórios, sete lojas, um auditório servido por elevadores especiais, 13 andares de estacionamento para 800 carros. Based on The Suit by Can Themba, Mothobi Mutloatse, and Barney Simon Direction, adaptation, and music by Peter Brook, Marie-Hélène Estienne, and Franck Krawczyk The renowned Peter Brook—whose 1987 production of The Mahabharata inaugurated the BAM Majestic Theater (now the BAM Harvey Theater)—returns with a music-filled adaptation of South African writer Can Themba’s piercing tale of simmering resentment and tragedy, The Suit. A wife caught in the act, her lover fleeing the scene, a suit left behind. It’s the perfect recipe for a husband’s punishing, humiliating decree: go on with business as usual, he says to his spouse, but take your lover’s suit everywhere you go as a ghostly reminder of your betrayal. Using an innovative staging that integrates live musicians directly into the action, Brook makes Themba’s volatile work sing. A hummed “Strange Fruit,” African melodies, and Schubert lieder thicken the tense, poisoned air of this apartheid-era summer in which a shared wound was not allowed to heal.
Dating from its first performance in 1861, BAM has grown into a thriving urban arts center that brings international performing arts and film to Brooklyn. The first BAM facility at 176-194 Montague Street in Brooklyn Heights was originally conceived by the Philharmonic Society of Brooklyn as a home for its concerts. It housed a large theater seating 2,200, a smaller concert hall, dressing and chorus rooms, and a vast "baronial" kitchen. BAM presented both amateur and professional music and theater productions. Performers included Ellen Terry, Edwin Booth, Tomas Salvini, and Fritz Kreisler.

The building depicted above is New York City's third City Hall. Constructed from 1803-1812, it was designed by John McComb, Jr. and Joseph-Francois Mangin. The building has undergone many restorations during its almost two hundred-year history. The original copper roof of City Hall was installed in 1811; it was replaced in 1853, and five years later, due to fire damage, replaced again. Additional work on the roof was undertaken in the early part of this century. Since that time, the last recorded work on the roof was undertaken in 1970, when roof openings were installed to accommodate new air conditioning units.

O Serviço de Documentação da Marinha é o resultado da evolução, mais que secular, iniciada com a criação da Biblioteca da Marinha. Esta teve como embrião o Depósito de Escritos Marítimos da Real Academia dos Guardas-Marinha de Portugal, criado em 1802, e transferido para o Brasil, com a Academia, em 1808. Em 1846, foi criada a Biblioteca da Marinha. Com um acervo de aproximadamente cem mil volumes, entre livros, folhetos, periódicos e mapas, a Biblioteca da Marinha é especializada nas áreas de História Naval, História Geral e do Brasil e Cartografia.

Known for being the first house museum on Staten Island, this New York City museum is rich in history on many levels. Its name lies in honor for the peace conference of 1776, a commemoration. Constructed circa 1680 by Captain Christopher Billopp, this 2 story rubble-stone masonry masterpiece has been restored over the years, as needed for structural integrity. Its steep gable roof gives the essence of the period. By 1934, much work had been completed including the Colonial Rose Garden and planting 13 trees to represent the original colonies. House tours are offered Friday-Sunday at 1 pm. In the midst of a collection of artifacts from the era, it is almost like stepping back to the time when our great country was still forming. The beauty and serenity overpower you while walking the grounds. Spring and summer bring the vivid colors of the trees to life. Why not stop for a minute to quite literally “smell the roses”? A Confeitaria Cavé ou, simplesmente, Cavé, data de 1860. É a mais antiga confeitaria do Rio de Janeiro. Foi fundada por Charles Auguste Cavé, francês que ficou a frente do negócio até 1922. Entrar nela é voltar ao passado, reviver um pouco do Rio Antigo. A arquitetura marcante da Cavé possui influências de diversos países. Lustres, vitrais e vidros em geral eram franceses; as cadeiras e mesas foram projetadas por Cólon, um espanhol que residia no Brasil.

Localizada no coração do Fonseca, um dos bairros mais tradicionais de Niterói, a Fundação Zoonit se encontra numa área de aproximadamente 10.000m2 e dispõe de 14 funcionários que estão a serviço de nossos visitantes e, é claro de nossos queridos hóspedes, os mais de 480 animais, instalados no parque. Trata-se de uma entidade sem fins lucrativos, de utilidade pública Estadual e Municipal, registrada na Curadoria de Fundações do Ministério Público do Rio de Janeiro.

The Tribute World Trade Center (WTC) Visitor Center is a project of the September 11th Families' Association, a non-profit organization that provides support and resources for victims of terrorism. The center is located at the World Trade Center site in New York City and serves as a gathering place for the entire 9/11 community, including families, survivors, residents, rescue workers, and volunteers affected by the events of September 11, 2001.
The Tribute WTC Visitor Center's mission is to provide a central location for information and resources related to 9/11 at the World Trade Center site. Visitors can learn about the events of September 11th, the identity of the 2,973 people killed in the attacks, the unprecedented rescue and recovery operations, and the spirit of support and generosity that arose in the aftermath of the attacks. The center also offers exhibits and artifacts that commemorate the tragic events and pay tribute to the victims and their families.
The Tribute WTC Visitor Center is a place for visitors to connect with the people, places, and events of 9/11, reflect on the tragic events, and pay their respects to the victims and their families. Balboa Park is made up of more than 1000 acres and offers fifteen museums, various gardens, arts and international culture associations, as well as the San Diego Zoo, making it a place that offers something historical, horticultural, educational and recreational for everyone. Approximately 14 million visitors come to the park each year. In 1960, the Perkins-Freeman family deeded Wave Hill to the City of New York; Wave Hill, Inc., was formed in 1965 as a non-profit corporation. Today, as one of 33 City-owned cultural institutions, Wave Hill provides an oasis of serenity and offers programs in Horticulture, Environmental Education, Woodland Management and the Visual and Performing Arts. Through the arts and sciences, Wave Hill seeks to foster connections between people and nature.

A imponente e conceituada Sala Cecília Meireles, uma edificação do século XIX, está localizada na cidade do Rio de Janeiro, no Largo da Lapa. Tradicional casa de concertos de música de câmara no cenário cultural da cidade, assim denominada em homenagem à poetisa, pianista Cecília Meireles. O prédio, originalmente erguido para funcionar como hotel (Grande Hotel da Lapa) recebeu empresários e políticos da República Velha. Posteriormente, em 1948 foi reformado e transformado em sala de cinema (Cine Colonial). Desde o início da década de 70, vem recebendo atenções especiais das autoridades do estado do Rio de Janeiro com o apoio de instituições privadas objetivando manter um espaço cultural permanente para difusão de música erudita, em particular a música de câmara. Um dos mais bonitos prédios do Rio de Janeiro, localizado na Praça Floriano, conhecida como Cinelândia, no centro da cidade, o Theatro Municipal é a principal casa de espetáculos do Brasil e uma das mais importantes da América do Sul. Desde a sua inauguração, em 14 de julho de 1909, o Theatro tem recebido os maiores artistas internacionais, assim como os principais nomes da dança, música e da ópera brasileiras.

Seu nome, na língua Tupi significa "água que sai do meio das pedras". Possui restaurantes de frutos do mar, todos na areia da praia, de onde se pode apreciar o mais belo pôr-do-sol da cidade. O canal de ligação da lagoa de Itaipu com o oceano, é o limite natural entre a praia de Itaipu e a de Camboinhas.

Fundada em 1978 pelo Maestro Florentino Dias, a Orquestra Filarmônica do Rio de Janeiro é reconhecida como de utilidade pública, sem fins lucrativos, e está cadastrada no Ministério da Cultura, o que permite aos seus patrocinadores e doadores beneficiarem-se com deduções no Imposto de Renda através da Lei Rouanet, além do retorno institucional ao afinarem-se com a harmonia e o belo.
Desde sua criação vem realizando várias séries de concertos, como: concertos "Classe A", no Teatro Municipal, Sala Cecília Meireles, Golden Room, Garden Hall e outros locais. Como foi criada nos moldes das grandes orquestras européias e norte-americanas, não tem vínculo com o Governo. Sua administração compõe-se de uma Diretoria, uma quadro de Patronesses e Patronos, e um Conselho Deliberativo do qual fazem parte pessoas da mais alta expressão cultural da nossa sociedade, e compõe-se de 70 músicos profissionais.
