O Decreto de 12/08/1816 criando a Escola Real de Ciências, Artes e Ofícios implantou no Brasil a educação artística em caráter oficial. Em 05/11/1826 configurou-se a instalação definitiva da Academia Imperial das Belas Artes - como ficou conhecida a Escola Real - instituindo-se um sistema de ensino artístico que iria moldar de forma singular o desenvolvimento da arte brasileira. A partir de 08/11/1890, a antiga Academia Imperial foi transformada na Escola Nacional de Belas Antes. Em 1965 passou a se chamar Escola de Belas Artes incorporando-se a Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro.

O Trem do Corcovado é uma linha férrea localizada na cidade do Rio de Janeiro. A linha começa em Cosme Velho e segue até o cume do Corcovado, a uma altitude de 710m. O cume é famoso pela estátua do Cristo Redentor e pela vistá aérea de várias praias do Rio de Janeiro.
A linha possui 3,8km de extensão e utiliza um sistema de tração elétrico. A linha foi inaugurada pelo imperador Dom Pedro II em 9 de Outubro de 1884. Inicialmente utilizava tração mecânica, sendo que o sistema de tração elétrico foi instalado em 1910, se tornando pioneiro no Brasil. Em 1980 a linha foi modernizada com a compra de trens da empresa SLM, sediada na cidade de Winterthur, Suíça.
A linha férrea do Corcovado é uma das poucas que ainda utilizam um sistema elétrico trifásico, possuindo, assim, dois cabos aéreos. A linha possui 4 trens, cada qual com dois vagões. O painel decorativo do plenário do Palácio Tiradentes foi executado por Eliseu Visconti em 1926 e representa a assinatura da primeira Constituição Republicana de 1891. Built almost 75 Years ago, this theatre once housed 3,000 people and was a showcase for celebrities of that time and later, as a motion picture venue. It enjoyed a successful economic life from 1929 until the 1970’s. At that time, vaudeville was entertainment of a bygone era and multi-screen, small capacity motion picture theatres were cropping up throughout the island. Attempts were made to re-vitalize the theatre by using it as a flea market, an antique showroom, a night club, and skating rink. None of these lasted very long and many who remembered or heard fond stories of its past grandeur, wondered what would become of the beautiful St. George Theatre . Hope was raised in January 2001 when, in his State of the City address, then Mayor Rudolph Giuliani promised resources for the renovation of the St.George Theatre into a Performing Arts Center which would ensure revitalization into the entire neighborhood. Unfortunately, the tragic events of 9/11/01 understandably put a halt to these resources.

Em 16 de junho de 1950, foi inaugurado o Estádio do Maracanã, no Rio de Janeiro, para que o Brasil pudesse sediar a Copa do Mundo, já que a Europa encontrava-se abalada pela Segunda Guerra Mundial. Com grande incentivo do jornalista Mário Filho, que depois foi homenageado dando seu nome ao estádio, a obra finalmente pôde ser concretizada, contrariando a opinião pública e políticos, que defendiam a aplicação do dinheiro na construção de hospitais e escolas.
Os grandes jogadores da história do futebol brasileiro iniciaram e consagraram suas carreiras no estádio. A primeira vez que Pelé jogou pela seleção brasileira foi no Maracanã, em 1957. Em 1961, fez o primeiro “gol de placa” e, em 19 de novembro de 1969, marcou ali seu milésimo gol. O Botafogo ganhou seu primeiro título somente sete anos depois da inauguração do estádio, com uma das maiores exibições de Garrincha em todos os tempos. Além de disponibilizar parte do conteúdo das publicações do ICH, o site publica notícias exclusivas atualizadas diariamente que oferecem ao leitor uma cobertura dinâmica da atualidade científica no Brasil e no mundo.
Em 2007, foi lançado, em parceria com o Centro Brasileiro de Pesquisas Físicas, o livro Física Hoje - Uma aventura pela natureza: dos átomos ao universo, que reúne 11 artigos escritos por renomados pesquisadores brasileiros e originalmente publicados na revista Ciência Hoje ao longo de 2005, em comemoração ao Ano Mundial da Física.
O ICH atua também na divulgação científica em meios audiovisuais: o Instituto promoveu a realização do programa de televisão Tome Ciência, uma série semanal que abordou de forma acessível temas de ciência e tecnologia.. Em outubro de 2004, o ICH se uniu à Rede Globo na campanha Ciência Vale a Pena.

Based on The Suit by Can Themba, Mothobi Mutloatse, and Barney Simon Direction, adaptation, and music by Peter Brook, Marie-Hélène Estienne, and Franck Krawczyk The renowned Peter Brook—whose 1987 production of The Mahabharata inaugurated the BAM Majestic Theater (now the BAM Harvey Theater)—returns with a music-filled adaptation of South African writer Can Themba’s piercing tale of simmering resentment and tragedy, The Suit. A wife caught in the act, her lover fleeing the scene, a suit left behind. It’s the perfect recipe for a husband’s punishing, humiliating decree: go on with business as usual, he says to his spouse, but take your lover’s suit everywhere you go as a ghostly reminder of your betrayal. Using an innovative staging that integrates live musicians directly into the action, Brook makes Themba’s volatile work sing. A hummed “Strange Fruit,” African melodies, and Schubert lieder thicken the tense, poisoned air of this apartheid-era summer in which a shared wound was not allowed to heal.
Dating from its first performance in 1861, BAM has grown into a thriving urban arts center that brings international performing arts and film to Brooklyn. The first BAM facility at 176-194 Montague Street in Brooklyn Heights was originally conceived by the Philharmonic Society of Brooklyn as a home for its concerts. It housed a large theater seating 2,200, a smaller concert hall, dressing and chorus rooms, and a vast "baronial" kitchen. BAM presented both amateur and professional music and theater productions. Performers included Ellen Terry, Edwin Booth, Tomas Salvini, and Fritz Kreisler.

The area which is now known as Elizabeth Park was once owned by Charles H. Pond. Mr. Pond was a wealthy industrialist and statesman whose career included the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad, Hartford National Bank, and Treasurer of the State of Connecticut.
Today the park encompasses 102 acres and boasts many garden areas, pathways, greenhouses, lawns, a picnic grove, a pond and recreation areas.

O Forte de Nossa Senhora do Pópulo e São Marcelo, popularmente conhecido como Forte do Mar, localiza-se em Salvador, capital da Bahia, no Brasil.
A primitiva concepção desta fortificação remonta a 1608. Inicialmente de madeira, foi todo reconstruído em alvenaria em 1624 para enfrentar os holandeses. Em 1650, ganhou a definitiva forma circular, que possibilita que sua artilharia dispare em qualquer direção, único das Américas nesse modelo. A sua estrutura é em cantaria de arenito até a linha d'água e o restante em alvenaria de pedra irregular.

O bonde sai do centro da cidade, passa sobre os Arcos da Lapa e segue a rota do tempo no sobe-e-desce das ladeiras de Santa Teresa. O ponto de partida é a estação no Largo da Carioca: a estação fica bem perto da sede da Petrobrás, na Rua Lélio Gama. O lugar tem um jardim encantador e revela um pouco do que se vai encontrar nesse passeio.
