The National September 11 Memorial is a tribute of remembrance and honor to the nearly 3,000 people killed in the terror attacks of September 11, 2001 at the World Trade Center site, near Shanksville, Pa., and at the Pentagon, as well as the six people killed in the World Trade Center bombing in February 1993.
The Memorial’s twin reflecting pools are each nearly an acre in size and feature the largest manmade waterfalls in the North America. The pools sit within the footprints where the Twin Towers once stood. Architect Michael Arad and landscape architect Peter Walker created the Memorial design selected from a global design competition that included more than 5,200 entries from 63 nations.
The names of every person who died in the 2001 and 1993 attacks are inscribed into bronze panels edging the Memorial pools, a powerful reminder of the largest loss of life resulting from a foreign attack on American soil and the greatest single loss of rescue personnel in American history.

O Complexo Esportivo de Deodoro é um dos locais de competições dos Jogos Olímpicos 2016. O espaço conta com cinco instalações esportivas diferentes. São elas: o Centro Olímpico de BMX, o Centro Olímpico de Hóquei, o Estádio de Canoagem Slalom, a Pista de Mountain Bike e a Arena da Juventude. Após a competição, parte do palco das disputas por medalhas olímpicas se transformará na segunda maior área de lazer da cidade, batizado de Parque Radical. O Trem do Corcovado é uma linha férrea localizada na cidade do Rio de Janeiro. A linha começa em Cosme Velho e segue até o cume do Corcovado, a uma altitude de 710m. O cume é famoso pela estátua do Cristo Redentor e pela vistá aérea de várias praias do Rio de Janeiro.
A linha possui 3,8km de extensão e utiliza um sistema de tração elétrico. A linha foi inaugurada pelo imperador Dom Pedro II em 9 de Outubro de 1884. Inicialmente utilizava tração mecânica, sendo que o sistema de tração elétrico foi instalado em 1910, se tornando pioneiro no Brasil. Em 1980 a linha foi modernizada com a compra de trens da empresa SLM, sediada na cidade de Winterthur, Suíça.
A linha férrea do Corcovado é uma das poucas que ainda utilizam um sistema elétrico trifásico, possuindo, assim, dois cabos aéreos. A linha possui 4 trens, cada qual com dois vagões. A Academia Brasileira de Ciências foi fundada no dia 3 de maio de 1916, na cidade do Rio de Janeiro, com o nome Sociedade Brasileira de Sciencias, alterado em 1921 para sua atual denominação. Atualmente, a Academia reúne seus membros em dez áreas especializadas: Ciências Matemáticas, Ciências Físicas, Ciências Químicas, Ciências da Terra, Ciências Biológicas, Ciências Biomédicas, Ciências da Saúde, Ciências Agrárias, Ciências da Engenharia e Ciências Humanas. A Academia tem desempenhado papel relevante em várias atividades ligadas à ciência no Brasil, liderando e influenciando na criação de importantes instituições, viabilizando publicações científicas, desenvolvendo programas e eventos científicos, estabelecendo convênios internacionais, e disponibilizando recursos para a sociedade acadêmica.

Tudo começou em 1945, quando os caminhões pau-de-arara, vindos de vários estados do Nordeste, chegavam ao Campo de São Cristóvão trazendo retirantes nordestinos para trabalhar na construção civil, onde já tinham vaga garantida.
O encontro dos recém-chegados com parentes e outros conterrâneos era animado com música e comida nordestinas, dando origem à Feira de São Cristóvão. Durante 58 anos, a tradicional Feira permaneceu no Campo de São Cristóvão, debaixo das árvores. Em 2003, as barracas foram transferidas para dentro do antigo Pavilhão, que foi reformado pela Prefeitura do Rio e transformado no Centro Municipal Luiz Gonzaga de Tradições Nordestinas. Hoje, a Feira de São Cristóvão tem boa infra-estrutura de limpeza e segurança, com banheiros públicos e estacionamento. São cerca de 700 barracas fixas, que oferecem as várias modalidades da cultura nordestina: culinária, artesanato, trios e bandas de forró, dança, cantores e poetas populares, repente e literatura de cordel.

O único zoológico no Brasil que trabalha essencialmente na reabilitação da fauna selvagem. São animais vindos das mais diversas partes, vítimas de queimadas, caçadores, poluição e doenças, que graças à nossa fundação tem uma segunda chance de vida e liberdade garantida. Além de toda essa imensa importância para a preservação de nossa biodiversidade, a Fundação Zoonit é também um grande centro de pesquisa, cultura e lazer para a comunidade.
Localizada no coração do Fonseca, um dos bairros mais tradicionais de Niterói, a Fundação Zoonit se encontra numa área de aproximadamente 10.000m2 e dispõe de 14 funcionários que estão a serviço de nossos visitantes e, é claro de nossos queridos hóspedes, os mais de 480 animais, instalados no parque. Poucas experiências são tão significativas para adultos e crianças quanto uma visita ao Zoológico. Apreciar a diversidade da fauna cria um vínculo poderoso e universal com a natureza. Localizado em uma área de 824.529 m2 de Mata Atlântica original, o Parque aloja nascentes do histórico riacho do Ypiranga, cujas águas formam um lago que acolhe exemplares de aves de várias espécies, além de aves migratórias. Assim como o lago, a mata abriga animais nativos de vida livre, formando maravilhosa fauna paralela.

O local se caracteriza em parte por mata fechada e em parte por tratamento paisagístico com magníficos jardins. Em 1939 a família Guinle repassou o imóvel ao governo do Distrito Federal, que então determinou sua conversão em parque público.
Ideal para a criançada correr à vontade em locais gramados, em pisos planos e outros levemente íngreme. Um bonito lago foi formado através do trajeto de um sinuoso córrego represado. Muito bom também para namorar. Excelente para piqueniques e propício para reflexões e relaxamento dos adultos.
