The Brooklyn Bridge, one of the oldest suspension bridges in the United States, stretches 5,989 feet over the East River connecting the New York City boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn. On completion, it was the largest suspension bridge in the world and the first steel-wire suspension bridge.
The Brooklyn Bridge has a center lane open to bicycles and pedestrians, just above automobile traffic. Governors Island is a 172-acre island located in New York Harbor, just a short ferry ride from Manhattan and Brooklyn. The island has a rich history, having been used as a military base, a quarantine station, and a Coast Guard station over the centuries. The island features several notable attractions, including the Governors Island National Monument, which includes the historic Castle Williams and Fort Jay, both of which date back to the early 19th century and offer a glimpse into the island's military past. Journey to Atlantis: Passengers begin their ride by climbing up the conveyor belt in a boat. As the boat nears the top, it enters a tower and pauses. It then retracts its roller coaster wheels, and drops down the first shaft. The passengers also get water poured on their heads as they drop to the plunge pool. The boats then travel by water in a loop-shaped course to the main tower. Inside, the boats enter an elevator, similar to the one in Disney's California Adventure park's The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. It shudders and climbs to the top. The wheels then slide out and the final drops and curves are revealed. The boat travels along the tracks and then return to the station. Source

Surrounded by the same stately trees for which it was named, The Oaks, in Portland, Oregon in 2005 will celebrate its 100th consecutive year of operation, making it one of the oldest continuously operating amusement parks in America. Built by the Oregon Water Power and Navigation Company, the park opened its gates on May 30, 1905 to Portlanders who arrived by foot and on horseback, in automobiles and by boat from the Willamette River. In keeping with the design of other "Trolley Parks" across the country, most of its visitors disembarked from trolley cars which ran along the Portland-to-Oregon City tracks forming the eastern boundary of the park.
