Ganhou status de Jardim Botânico em julho de 2002, com base na resolução 266 do Conselho Nacional de Meio Ambiente (Conama). Com a certificação, o Bosque entra na lista dos jardins brasileiros que integram a Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI), rede mundial com 1.846 jardins em 148 países e mais de 4 milhões de coleções de plantas vivas. A conquista do título também facilita a captação de recursos nacionais e internacionais para o desenvolvimento de projetos científicos e de educação ambiental. Entre as coleções estão mais de 80 mil espécies de plantas vasculares, principalmente orquídeas, cactos e outras suculentas, palmeiras, bulbosas, coníferas e árvores de regiões temperadas e espécies silvestres, especialmente as que estão ameaçadas, assim como milhares de espécies cultiváveis de importância econômica e seus correspondentes silvestres, como plantas frutíferas e medicinais. Além disso, jardins botânicos têm outras coleções valiosas, como herbários (espécimes preservadas) e bancos de sementes. No Brasil, país campeão da biodiversidade mundial - são mais de 50 mil espécies de plantas e 3 mil de peixes de água doce, a maioria na Amazônia - existem 26 jardins botânicos, distribuídos em 14 estados.

A Cidade das Artes é um complexo cultural localizado na cidade do Rio de Janeiro. O prédio escultural erguido a dez metros do chão, no coração da Barra da Tijuca, projeto do arquiteto francês Christian de Portzamparc, abriga um dos mais importantes e completos espaços para a representação das artes. Aqui, música, teatro, cinema, dança, artes plásticas, e outras manifestações artísticas brasileiras e de todos os povos, têm acolhida de excelência que transformou o lugar em um grande centro de valorização da cultura, com solo fértil para a formação de plateia. A ideia de converter em Cidade das Artes o projeto original surgiu de uma conversa entre o Prefeito Eduardo Paes e o presidente da Fundação Cidade das Artes e ex-Secretário Municipal de Cultura, Emílio Kalil. Inaugurado parcialmente no final da administração anterior, o complexo de salas de espetáculos ganhou vida nova com a decisão de ampliar e modernizar seu campo de atuação para atender a todas as classes artísticas e sociais da cidade, e não apenas a área da música.

O Decreto de 12/08/1816 criando a Escola Real de Ciências, Artes e Ofícios implantou no Brasil a educação artística em caráter oficial. Em 05/11/1826 configurou-se a instalação definitiva da Academia Imperial das Belas Artes - como ficou conhecida a Escola Real - instituindo-se um sistema de ensino artístico que iria moldar de forma singular o desenvolvimento da arte brasileira. A partir de 08/11/1890, a antiga Academia Imperial foi transformada na Escola Nacional de Belas Antes. Em 1965 passou a se chamar Escola de Belas Artes incorporando-se a Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro.

Tem como missão produzir, disseminar e compartilhar conhecimentos e tecnologias voltados para o fortalecimento e a consolidação do Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) e para a promoção da saúde e da qualidade de vida da população brasileira. Fundada há 115 anos e hoje vinculada ao Ministério da Saúde, a Fiocruz está localizada em um campus de 800.000 m2 no bairro de Manguinhos, Zona Norte do Rio de Janeiro.

A Casa França-Brasil é um Centro Cultural difusor de Arte Contemporânea, com Exposições, Projeto Educativo, Sala de Leitura e Bistrô. A instituição está instalada numa construção neoclássica tombada, projetada no século XIX. Em janeiro de 1816 chegou ao Rio de Janeiro uma Missão Artística Francesa chefiada pelo escritor Joachim Lebreton (1760-1819), com o objetivo de formar no Brasil o núcleo de uma Academia de Belas Artes. De suas atividades deriva o projeto do prédio que hoje abriga a Casa França-Brasil, de autoria de Grandjean de Montigny, idealizado para ser uma Praça de Comércio (inaugurada em 13/10/1820 e fechada um ano depois). Em 1824, o prédio é reaberto como alfândega. E, 1956 a 1978, sedia o II Tribunal do Júri. Fechado desde então, é reinaugurado em 29/03/1990 depois de convênio firmado entre a Secretaria Estadual de Cultural, a Secretaria de Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico, a Fundação Nacional Pró-Memória, o Ministério da Cultura da França, a Fundação Roberto Marinho e a Rodhia para a execução das obras que o tornaram um centro cultural.
