Kahala Mall is home to a number of nationally and internationally recognized businesses, including Whole Foods Market, Apple Store, Macy's, Barnes & Noble, Starbucks, Jamba Juice, Radio Shack, Chili's and California Pizza Kitchen.
Local merchants and a number of independently-owned shops and restaurants can also be found within the mall perimeter. An eight-screen Consolidated Theatres movie theater is nestled into one corner of the mall. Waialae Bowl, the only bowling center within several miles of the neighborhood, was somewhat interestingly built into a McDonald's, at the corner opposite the movie theater. Unfortunately, it has since closed down (not related to the flood, however.)
The movie theater in this mall was closed in March 2006. It has since reopened. The closing occurred as a result of flooding from heavy rains. The flood broke a hole through the wall of the theater and flowed into the mall, and parts of the ground floor had 3-6 inches of rain water. Many shops suffered substantially; some never reopened. San Jacinto Mall is located on I-10 at Garth Road. This 1.2 million square foot mall has anchors such as Foley's, JCPenney, Marshalls, Palais Royal, and Sears. It also contains over 100 specialty retailers and food court merchants including Premiere Cinemas 11.
Other features include a two-story carousel, delta play area, and birthday party area, all located above the food court in Circus Play Park.

Bayshore Community Foundation announced the continuation of the Change for Charity meter program where proceeds generated through parking meter revenue are donated to area non-profit organizations. Change for Charity designates a new organization every two months to receive a portion of the parking meter proceeds and ticket revenue generated at Bayshore. The 2008 recipients are the sophomore class of local nonprofit organizations that will benefit from the program.
