March - The Miami International Film Festival (MIFF) brings the best of world cinema to South Florida and plays a leading role in maintaining and further enriching its film culture. MIFF uses the unique geographical and cultural position of Miami to be a premiere venue for the exhibition of international and US films, with a special focus on Ibero-American cinema. Both juried and audience awards are given in Documentary and Dramatic categories.

May 29-31, 2004

February. One of the world's great celebrations, marking the last day before Lent begins. The fun actually begins in early January and climaxes on "Fat Tuesday", so-called because people often eat their fill the day before Lent.

Over the course of twenty-five years the K-300 has become the highest regarded mid-distance dog sled race in the world. The race annually attracts the top mushers in the world.

April / May

October - With its close proximity to UCLA, Beverly Hills, Bel-Air, Holmby Hills and Brentwood, The Majestic Crest theatre is the perfect location to showcase and launch independent product. Westwood remains the capital of the single-screen palace theatre and no theatre in the area represents the spirit of independent cinema like the Majestic Crest. Please join us in bridging the gap between independent film and independent cinema in the beautiful community of Westwood.

Produced by the Greater Mandeville Seafood Association, Inc, The Mandeville Seafood Festival, established in 1978, is the oldest festival held in St. Tammany Parish. Attendance is estimated at over ten thousand people per day, with admission at $10.00. Children ten and under are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Senior citizens over sixty-five are also admitted free of charge.

The Waco Cultural Arts Fest is a 501©3 non-profit corporation created to promote multicultural events for Waco and surrounding Central Texas communities celebrating diversity and fostering greater understanding of cultural differences through the arts. Art and music touch the heart, fire the imagination and draw people together. The Waco Cultural Arts Fest aims to honor art education and the art community through this two day festival of art, music, performance, food and arts activities for all ages.

March - The mission of the annual Kona Chocolate Festival is to entertain both visitors to and residents of the Big Island; showcase the creative talents of fine Big Island chefs, chocolatiers, ice cream and candy makers; provide a means to highlight cacao farming and support the chocolate industry in Hawai'i; and raise funds to support the unique education each child receives at Kona Pacific Waldorf School in Kealakekua.

The Alabama Shakespeare Festival, located in Montgomery - Alabama's state capital - is the sixth largest Shakespeare festival in the world and attracts more than 300,000 annual visitors from all 50 states and over 60 countries.

“The 2006 ARIZONA BALLOON FESTIVAL-CHANDLER (R)” and a "BOOO-Looning" Halloween event with more than 50 colorful hot-air balloons will participate in thrilling competition. The balloons will rise from the fields of Tumbleweed Park and compete in a Hare and Hound contest. Spectators are allowed to walk on the field and watch the balloons inflate and lift off. Photo taking is invited. DESERT GLOWS on Friday and Saturday evenings, October 27th & 28th, as a field full of illuminated, tethered, hot air balloons will glow in time to music.

On Oct. 4, 1895, the first U.S. Open Championship was conducted by the United States Golf Association on the nine-hole course of Newport (R.I.) Golf and Country Club. The first U.S. Open was considered something of a sideshow to the first U.S. Amateur, which was played on the same course and during the same week. Both championships had been scheduled for September but were postponed because of a conflict with a more established Newport sports spectacle, the America’s Cup yacht races.

September - Oklahoma State Fair, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation that serves the people of Oklahoma and is dedicated to continuing the organization's heritage of education, entertainment and economic development through the operation of State Fair Park and the annual Oklahoma State Fair.

Over the past nine decades, the PGA Championship has developed into one of the premier sporting events in the world. More than 100,000 people line the fairways of the nation's finest golf facilities during PGA Championship week to view the strongest, all-professional international field in major championship golf. As it was more than 80 years ago, the Wanamaker Trophy is still prized as one of the golf world's greatest treasures.

The City of Lakes Loppet is a 35km cross-country ski race featuring the beautiful trails and lakes of the Twin Cities. Join us on the first weekend in February for this celebration of winter in Minnesota!

Annual event, always held the first weekend of October. Over 1,500 costumed reenactors and 250 tipis, tents and other shelters of the colonial period. We host over 5,000 grade school children who attend a choice of over 100 demonstrations and classes on colonial America and the fur trade. Food, drink, music, dance, theatre, blackpowder shooting, storytelling.

Annual regional arts & crafts festival celebrating the huckleberry and the local community, with 90 vendors, food, entertainment, parade and Miss Huckleberry pageant. This is the 28th year of this event.

September. American Indian culture celebrated with powwow, arts and crafts, traditional food.

The Fifty Year Club of the Ohio State Fair is an organization that holds an annual meeting during the fair. The objective of the group is to support, improve , and promote the Ohio State Fair and develop fellowship among the members.

Each year, more than 800,000 people celebrate the City of Lakes during the third week of July. Please join us for Minnesota's largest parade and free outdoor concert, the fourth largest fireworks show in the U.S., our amazing milk carton boat races and sandcastle building competition, the world's largest purse triathlon, our neighborhood park BBQ's and so much more. September/October - Lebowski Fest is a bowling event celebrating all things relating to the Coen Brothers 1998 film, The Big Lebowski. It can be likened to a Star Trek convention in a very loose sense. The event takes place at a bowling alley and includes unlimited bowling, costume , trivia, farthest traveled, and bowling contests, prizes, and what-have-you. The friend of the Coen Brothers who inspired the main character played by Jeff Bridges, Jeff "The Dude" Dowd has been known to make an appearance and drink some White Russians. The 1st annual occurred in Fall of 2002 in Louisville, Kentucky and the 2nd annual took place in July 2003. We then headed way out west to Las Vegas for Lebowski Fest West in Feb., 2004. The 3rd Annual Lebowski Fest in June of 2004 brought over 4000 Achievers and included an outdoor concert with My Morning Jacket. Lebowski Fest New York was held in Aug. 2004. Lebowski Fest hit a milestone in LA when Jeff Bridges came out!

Lumberjack Days is Stillwater's annual summer celebration. Most of the festivities are held in Lowell Park adjacent to the beautiful St. Croix River in historic downtown Stillwater. There is no admission fee. National-act concerts and lumberjack shows along with one of the largest musically choreographed fireworks shows in the United States are just a sample of the FREE entertainment waiting for you at Lumberjack Days 06.

October - The Dungeness Crab & Seafood Festival is the annual celebration of the region's diverse bounty - the seafood, the maritime and cultural traditions and the breathtaking coastal environment. The festival's featured crustacean, the Dungeness Crab, was named after the village of Dungeness (near Port Angeles ), Washington . The Festival is located at the Port Angeles City Pier and the Red Lion Hotel overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca, with Victoria , B.C. just a ferry ride away.

November - By the time of the Festival, winter has typically begun in Haines. Conditions can include cold temperatures, wind, snow and/or rain, so you'll want to come prepared with appropriate clothing. We recommend dressing in layers with thermal or polypropylene underwear, a wool or fleece middle layer, and a waterproof/windproof outer layer. Warm gloves, hats with ear protection, and warm waterproof boots are essential. Although you might wish to dress up for Sheldon Museum's annual fundraiser, Eagle Elegance, casual clothing is acceptable for all indoor events.
