Since 1979, Ballet Academy East has been a vibrant center for dance on Manhattan's Upper East Side. In 1978, Julia Dubno, the founder and director of Ballet Academy East was selected by Christine Fokine to run the Fokine Ballet School. That experience led to the opening of Ballet Academy East in a brownstone on East 79th Street with one small studio in 1979. <br> Today the school has five spacious studios and a world-renowned faculty and continues to flourish. Miss Dubno continues to oversee the day-to-day operations and is in close contact with the faculty in order to be kept abreast of all areas of the school.

The original center for dance, musical theatre and performance in Park Slope for both Children and Adults. In September we begin our 34th year of business in this community. Our facility, new construction in 2007, is located at 630 Sackett Street (between 3rd and 4th Avenues) and offers: large, state of the art dance floors - both floating and sprung, central air conditioning and heating, storefront access for ease with strollers, less street congestion for those who drive, public transportation 1 block away on both buses and subway and close to schools in Park Slope, Carroll Gardens and Gowanus neighborhoods.

Every Memorial Day weekend, the riverfront comes alive with three days of music, art installations, and regional cuisine that draws crowds from across the state. The event sprawls across Julius Breckling Riverfront Park, the bustling River Market District in Little Rock, and extends to North Little Rock's North Shore Riverwalk—a perfect setup for exploring multiple neighborhoods in the crisp late-spring air. Behind the festival is a nonprofit organization that's been operating since 1978, channeling proceeds back into the parks and cultural spaces themselves, with more than $700,000 invested in these public areas over the decades.
