Richmond University Medical Center is a 510-bed healthcare facility on Staten Island, serving over 450,000 residents. It also serves as an academic medical center of New York Medical College Valhalla, New York. <br> RUMC is a Level 1 Trauma Center, a state-designated Stroke Center, and a regional Perinatal Center for high risk expectant mothers. Harlem Hospital Center has been a bedrock of the Harlem community since 1887. The hospital provides a wide range of medical, surgical, diagnostic, therapeutic and family support services to the residents of Central Harlem, West Harlem, Washington Heights and Inwood. Harlem is the largest hospital in the area, capable of treating the most seriously ill. Beth Israel Medical Center is a 1,368-bed, full-service tertiary teaching hospital in New York City. Originally dedicated to serving immigrant Jews living in the tenement slums of the Lower East Side, it was founded at the turn of the 20th century. The main hospital location is the Petrie Division at First Avenue and 16th Street, and facing Stuyvesant Square.
