In 1982, President Ronald Reagan asked Lee Iacocca, then Chairman of Chrysler Corporation, to head a private sector effort to raise funds for the restoration and preservation of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation (SOLEIF) was founded. <br> The Foundation's fundraising drive sparked a dramatic response. The American people contributed more than $500 million (and counting!) to the repair, restoration, and maintenance of these two great monuments to freedom. All funds for the Foundation’s projects have come from the American people – no government funds have been used.

West County Center is a shopping mall located in Des Peres, Missouri, originally built in 1969. The original mall closed in 2001, and a new mall on the site opened in 2002. The station was built in 1907 and originally was the home to Hook and Ladder Company No. 3. The Museum boasts a fantastic collection of fire apparatus including “Old Tige”, an 1884 horse-drawn steam pumper named after then mayor W.L. Cabell. Other apparatus include some of the first motorized engines that were used by the Dallas Fire Department. Children can indulge their fascination with firefighters by climbing on a 1951 Fire engine, pulling on their helmet, and pretending they are on their way to “save the day”. 98 years of Rubin's Furniture! That's a very long time. Almost a century ago, my grandfather, Ben Rubin came to Madison, Wisconsin from Russia and opened the very first Rubin's Furniture. Ben's two sons, Isadore Rubin and David Rubin were the 2nd generation of Rubins. In 1932 Isadore and David opened Badger Furniture, a modest store in downtown Madison. During my childhood I often helped my father, Isadore to shovel coal into the furnace on cold winter Sunday mornings. In high-school I worked part-time on the delivery truck and I helped unpack new furniture in the warehouse. During my college years, I graduated to the "floor" and began my sales career.

Judo Ryu Jacksonville was founded in December of 1996 by Sensei John Fiege, Nidan. Born in Holland, Sensei Fiege began taking judo at age 8 and at age 24 moved to the U.S. In Holland Sensei Fiege was the Dutch National Champion in 1986. This earned him his black belt (Shodan). In the U.S. Sensei Fiege has won the U.S. National Gold (1998) and Bronze (2005) as a Master. He won Silver and Bronze in the 2001 and 2005 World Masters and numerous Florida State medals.
