By today's mega mall size, Bal Harbour Shops 500,000 square foot al fresco shopping experience seems refreshingly intimate, though its economic impact rivals the super regionals. Bal Harbour ranked the number one most productive shopping center in the U.S., based on average sales per square foot, according to Women's Wear Daily. The shops achieved sales of $1,350 per square foot, more than three times the national average of $340. Only the Forum Shops in Las Vegas even comes close at #2 and Ala Moana Shopping center in Honolulu ranks #3 in the nation.

Kings Plaza is a shopping center that opened in 1970, within the Marine Park/Mill Basin section of Brooklyn, east of Flatbush Avenue. Originally hosting the now defunct Alexander's, as well as Macy*s department store chains, it began to operate a branch of Sears in 1997, and underwent extensive renovations in 2001. Later, Kings Plaza closed the Waldenbooks book store, Suncoast videos and Sam Goody music store. The Banana Republic store was closed and changed into a children's clothing store named Kidstown (which has also closed) and a Godiva chocolate store was added. CVS also closed and was replaced by a furniture store. An Armani Exchange store was added to the mall, expected to open summer 2008. Source

Cumberland Mall is located in Vineland, NJ, on Route 47 (Delsea Drive) at Route 55 (Exit 27). Recently the NJDOT created a special ramp that channels traffic into the mall from Route 55 NB. Cumberland Mall is strategically positioned 25 miles (40 km) away from its nearest competitor, 45 miles (72 km) south of Philadelphia, PA and on route to the Southern New Jersey Shore Points. The mall almost went under, but was able to stay in business thanks to Vineland's 3.5% sales tax. West Acres Shopping Center is a regional shopping center located in the city of Fargo, North Dakota near the intersection of Interstates 29 and 94. The name of the mall is often shortened to just West Acres. It is the largest mall in the state and includes four major anchors, more than 120 smaller stores, and a 750 seat food court. The mall is also home to The Roger Maris Museum, a collection of regional art, the Touchstone Energy Dinosaur Playland, and a collection of spearfishing decoys created by the late John Jensen. A centerpiece since the mall opened in 1972 is the Fountain of Abundance, created by (and refurbished by) Moorhead State University art professor, P. Richard Szeitz. The fountain was originally located in front of what is now Macy's, but was moved in front of J.C. Penney around the same time the food court was constructed. Source

The site currently occupied by Oak Ridge City Center was selected by the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission to establish a permanent shopping center in the years following World War II. In 1951 the AEC selected a company headed by Guilford Glazer to build the new shopping center. A shortage of steel resulting from the Korean War delayed construction, but the Downtown Shopping Center opened in 1955. This shopping area was considered a replacement for the former "townsite" area around Jackson Square.
In the late 1980s Crown American purchased the property and converted it to an indoor mall by enclosing the walkways around the stores and significantly expanding the floor area. Source
