Fashion Island is an upscale open-air shopping mall in Newport Beach, California
The large courtyard outside the Bloomingdale's building is occupied annually by a large Christmas tree. About a week before Christmas, every year, the tree is lit, preceded by extravagant holiday performances. The trees are taken from a private timber area near Mount Shasta, and shipped to Fashion Island in several pieces, which are then re-assembled using steel rods and a large crane. Dean & DeLuca announced that it would be opening a new West Coast flagship store at Fashion Island in the fall of 2009. On January 29, 2008, Nordstrom announced that it had signed a letter of intent to open a 138,000 sq ft store in 2010. Source |

Located in Newport News, VA approximately 30 miles northwest of Norfolk and 60 miles southeast of Richmond. The center is located on the main road of the peninsula- Jefferson Avenue- with access directly from I-64. Home of Northrup-Grumman Shipbuilding, the largest privately owned shipyard as well as the nation’s only shipyard building nuclear air craft carriers. The mall completed an extensive interior and exterior renovation in late 2005, which included the addition of a 55,000 sf Dick’s Sporting Goods store, Borders Book & Music, Red Robin Restaurant and Bailey’s Pub & Grille. Patrick Henry Mall is the dominant retail destination on the peninsula and the only enclosed regional mall between Richmond and Virginia Beach.

The site currently occupied by Oak Ridge City Center was selected by the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission to establish a permanent shopping center in the years following World War II. In 1951 the AEC selected a company headed by Guilford Glazer to build the new shopping center. A shortage of steel resulting from the Korean War delayed construction, but the Downtown Shopping Center opened in 1955. This shopping area was considered a replacement for the former "townsite" area around Jackson Square.
In the late 1980s Crown American purchased the property and converted it to an indoor mall by enclosing the walkways around the stores and significantly expanding the floor area. Source |

Cumberland Mall is located in Vineland, NJ, on Route 47 (Delsea Drive) at Route 55 (Exit 27). Recently the NJDOT created a special ramp that channels traffic into the mall from Route 55 NB. Cumberland Mall is strategically positioned 25 miles (40 km) away from its nearest competitor, 45 miles (72 km) south of Philadelphia, PA and on route to the Southern New Jersey Shore Points. The mall almost went under, but was able to stay in business thanks to Vineland's 3.5% sales tax. Cumberland Mall has recently seen more customers due to the large amount of development that has occurred in the region. Source
