Em 6 de setembro de 1951, o Governador do Estado do Espírito Santo, Jones dos Santos Neves assinou a lei criando a Escola Politécnica do Espírito Santo, coroando os esforços desenvolvidos pela Sociedade Espírito Santense de Engenheiros, fundada em 1950. A Escola instalou-se nas dependências do Colégio Estadual do Espírito Santo, no prédio da Antiga FAFI, com o curso de Engenharia Civil. Seu primeiro Diretor foi o Prof. Dido Fontes de Faria Brito. Em 1953, passou a funcionar em prédio próprio na Av. Maruípe, permanecendo neste local, com sucessivas ampliações, até 1975, quando mudou para a sua atual sede no Campus Universitário "Alaor Queiroz de Araújo".

A Faculdade Salesiana de Vitória, credenciada pela Port. 569/MEC de 03/05/00, é mantida por uma sociedade civil, sem fins lucrativos, a Inspetoria São João Bosco. Essa Inspetoria, de assistência social e beneficência, de caráter educativo e cultural, é mantenedora de diversas obras educacionais nos Estados do Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Goiás, Distrito Federal e Espírito Santo. Em Vitória, é também mantenedora dos Colégio Salesianos, no Forte São João e em Jardim Camburi, do Oratório Festivo e do Centro Salesiano do Menor.

The University contains 23 additional campuses located throughout the state, including a virtual World Campus. The enrollment at Penn State is over 84,000 students, placing it among the ten largest public universities in the United States. Master's Colleges and Universities I - These institutions typically offer a wide range of baccalaureate programs, and they are committed to graduate education through the master's degree. They award 40 or more master's degrees per year across three or more disciplines.

Virginia State University, located in Ettrick, Virginia (near Petersburg, in the Richmond area), was founded on March 6, 1882. It was the United States's first fully state-supported four-year institution of higher learning for black Americans. Its first president was John Mercer Langston who later became the first African American elected to Congress from Virginia. The board of trustees was African American except for one member. The faculty of the collegiate program and the normal school was African American until the mid-1960s. The name used by the historically black university's athletic teams is the "Mighty Trojans." The third season of the reality television series College Hill was filmed at Virginia State University in 2006.

A Faculdade Unida está instalada numa região de elevada concentração de evangélicos. Pesquisa realizada pelo Instituto Superior de Estudos da Religião (ISER) mostra que a Grande Vitória é uma das áreas urbanas com maior concentração de evangélicos no Brasil. Em vista dessa realidade, a Faculdade Unida, através de seu Departamento de Teologia, assume a tarefa de formar Bacharéis para que estes venham a ser agentes de transformação em suas igrejas e em seu contexto social. Deus continue abençoando os planos da Direção da Faculdade Unida, e que o Espírito promova a comunhão e o encorajamento de docentes e estudantes.

Baruch College is part of a tradition that dates back more than 150 years to the founding, in 1847, of the Free Academy, the very first free public institution of higher education in the nation. (Baruch’s landmark building at 23rd Street and Lexington Avenue occupies the site of the Free Academy). Established in 1919 as City College’s School of Business and Civic Administration, the school was renamed in 1953 in honor of Bernard M. Baruch—statesman, financier, and devoted alumnus. In 1968 the school became an independent senior college in The City University of New York (CUNY) system.

Established in 1936, the New York City campus of Berkeley College has more than 1,700 day, evening, and weekend students earning degrees and certificates. Bob Jones University (BJU) is a private, non-denominational Protestant Fundamentalist, liberal arts university located in Greenville, South Carolina. Founded in 1927 by Bob Jones, Sr. (1883-1968), an evangelist and younger contemporary of Billy Sunday, it is the largest private liberal arts university in South Carolina and has a reputation for being one of the most conservative of religious schools in the United States. Although not regionally accredited, the university is a member of, and candidate for accreditation by the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools, an accrediting organization recognized by the Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. Tem seu começo em 18 de fevereiro de 1808, quando o Príncipe Regente Dom João VI institui a Escola de Cirurgia da Bahia, primeiro curso universitário do Brasil. Ainda no século XIX, incorporou os cursos de Farmácia (1832) e Odontologia (1864), a Academia de Belas Artes (1877), Direito (1891) e Politécnica (1896). No século XX, Isaías Alves cria a Faculdade de Filosofia, Ciências e Letras (1941).

In addition to its 70 graduate and undergraduate degree-granting programs, the university offers certificate programs and more than 1,000 continuing education courses to 25,000 adult learners every year.

The Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS) was founded in 1886 through the efforts of two distinguished rabbis, Dr. Sabato Morais and Dr. H. Pereira Mendes, along with a group of prominent lay leaders from Sephardic congregations in Philadelphia and New York. Its mission was to preserve the knowledge and practice of historical Judaism. In 1887, JTS held its first class of ten students in the vestry of the Spanish-Portuguese Synagogue, New York City's oldest congregation.

A idéia da criação da Universidade de Fortaleza, concebida pelo industrial Edson Queiroz, empresário já estabelecido no ramo da agropecuária, gás, indústria metalúrgica e telecomunicações, deu-se em um contexto de expectativas e apreensão nos idos de 1970, quando o Brasil enfrentava uma das maiores crises no ensino superior devido à reduzida oferta de vagas.
No Ceará o quadro não era diferente: o número de vagas nos poucos cursos universitários era ofertado apenas por duas instituições públicas. A evasão de muitos jovens para outros estados, em busca da complementação de seus estudos, era inevitável, pois nos grandes centros urbanos outras instituições de ensino superior acenavam com acolhida às suas aspirações.

As Faculdades Integradas Maria Thereza (FAMATh), que contam hoje com mais de trinta anos de serviços prestados à Educação de nosso país, se caracteriza por ter sido a primeira instituição privada no município de Niterói. A Instituição tem sido pioneira na criação de cursos relevantes e de imensa procura, como Psicologia, Ciências Biológicas, Biologia Marinha, Educação Física e Pedagogia, que hoje culminam com a oferta de vários cursos de pós-graduação e o projeto de sua transformação em Centro Universitário.

Seleção La Salle: Consiste numa Redação, na mesma data do concurso vestibular, cuja nota final para aprovação deverá ser igual ou superior a 50 e a análise de Histórico Escolar, também com nota final para aprovação igual ou superior a 50, respeitando os seguintes critérios: Português e Literatura = 30 pontos e Objetivas (Matemática, Física, Química, Biologia, História e Geografia) = 20 pontos, perfazendo um total de 100 pontos conforme determina o Regimento Interno da instituição.

A UniCarioca nasceu em 1990, sob o nome de Faculdade Carioca de Informática. Começou pequena, em um prédio de Botafogo, com apenas duas turmas de 35 alunos do curso de Tecnologia em Processamento de Dados. Aos poucos, fomos crescendo e ampliando nossa oferta de cursos. Em 1995, desenvolvemos a primeira Universidade Virtual do país, a UNIVIR. Neste ano também começamos com os cursos de Administração, Comunicação Social e Desenho Industrial. Em 1998, foi a vez do curso de Marketing e, no ano seguinte, Ciência da Computação.
Em 2001 foram criados o NUPEC (Núcleo de Projetos Especiais) e o LUPA (Laboratório UniCarioca de Pesquisas Aplicadas), projetos acadêmicos que promovem trabalhos de pesquisa e capacitação profissional. Hoje, são mais de 4.500 alunos que constituem o nosso corpo discente, da graduação em quatro unidades: Rio Comprido, Méier, Bento Ribeiro e Jacarepaguá.

A Faculdade Saberes tem um projeto político-pedagógico que se fundamenta em princípios educacionais, filosóficos, psicológicos, sociológicos, lingüísticos e culturais que sinalizam uma educação voltada para o desenvolvimento/aprimoramento de um ser humano capaz de perceber o momento que está vivendo e agir, individual e coletivamente em pro do ser humano.
