These dance classes cater to all types of children, from those who are preparing for a dance career to those learning to dance for enrichment and fun. Conceived by Bobbi Petri, Dance upon a time.... is the premier social dance studio in Queens and the Long Island area. Since its inception, our studio has attracted students from all over the tri-state area; we try to provide the highest quality of instruction available in a professional, yet relaxed and fun learning environment. Our ballroom, one of the largest among the NY area dance studios, regularly holds dance events of over 150-250 people; it can be partitioned into as many as 4 separate classrooms that can, depending on the dance, easily accommodate dozens of students in each.

Manhattan’s Largest Ballroom Dance Studio opened in April of 2009. It was our dream to provide students, teachers, social dancers and performance dancers with an elegant, functional space that could accommodate the growing need for teaching and training future ballroom dancers of every age.

The School reflects the spirit of the Mark Morris Dance Group in its celebration of dance and music. We believe that the study of various dance forms and music is essential to a child's education and development. We offer a diverse range of classes for all ages and strive to be a center of creative activity for children, community residents and professional dancers.
In addition to incorporating music and singing courses, we are now able to offer more classes overall with the opening of our newest ground floor studio. The recently expanded space also includes a lobby reception desk, ground floor lounge area, bathrooms, and locker rooms.
Remember, we offer flexible enrollment plans - per semester or in advance for the full year - to fit your family's needs. If you enroll your child for both semesters at the beginning of the fall season, you recieve a special discount. And at the end of each semester, we have open classes which parents are welcome to attend.

Cathy's Dance Studio was founded in 1956 by Miss Cathy Dooley and has carried out one tradition for over the past 53 years - a mission of sharing the art of dance with children of all ages and adding the excitement of cutting edge dance techniques.
