As raízes históricas do Colégio remontam a 1912, quando foi criado seu precursor, o Colégio Militar de Barbacena, extinto em 1925.
Somente trinta anos após a extinção daquele educandário, em face à persistência de uma chama que não se apagou, luziu a grande esperança: o ressurgimento da casa de formação dos “pupilos do Exército”, no saudável ambiente do clima, dos costumes e do civismo montanheses.
Em 12 de setembro de 1955, o Presidente da República, Café Filho, assinou o decreto nº 37.879, que criou o Colégio Militar de Belo Horizonte, que possibilitava aos mineiros rápido ingresso nas fileiras do Exército Brasileiro.
De acordo com o mesmo decreto, o Colégio deveria ser instalado no prédio destinado ao Centro de Preparação de Oficiais da Reserva (CPOR), no bairro da Pampulha. Enquanto se providenciava a construção do Colégio no local onde atualmente se ergue o fórum Lafaiete, o CMBH provisoriamente ocupou as instalações do Colégio Estadual de Minas Gerais, localizado na avenida Augusto de Lima, próximo ao centro da cidade.
O início do primeiro ano letivo ocorreu em 21 de abril de 1956, marcado por uma solenidade que contou com a presença de várias autoridades civis e militares.
As obras foram concluídas no final de 1959, fato que permitiu o funcionamento do Colégio, totalmente reunido na Pampulha, a partir de 1960.

A high school in the Mineola Union Free School District and is located in Garden City Park, New York. It serves Mineola, Albertson, Williston Park, Garden City Park, and Roslyn Heights within its district.
It opened in 1962, replacing the old high school, which now houses the middle school. It recently underwent a multi-million-dollar refurbishing of the library. Since 1981, it has been fully accredited by the Middle States Evaluation Committee. The most recent rankings in New York State show the school district that feeds the high school to have an overall rank in the 91st percentile, Ranking 57th out of 695 districts in the state. The Reece School is one of the oldest non-profit special education elementary schools in New York City. It was founded in 1948 by Ellen S. Reece and is housed in the home she once owned on East 93rd Street. Today the Reece School presents a highly academic elementary special education for nearly 75 students, ages 5 to 13, who present with learning disabilities, speech and language impairments, and emotional disabilities. The school’s program is full day and is offered within a nurturing environment that is designed to provide high levels of academic and emotional support. Children study a modified, sequential, elementary curriculum for grades K-6 and learn various strategies for overcoming their individual academic difficulties. They develop the social skills to function successfully in the classroom, the school, and the larger community.

The LFNY was the brainchild of the then French Consul General in New York, the Count Charles de Ferry de Fontnouvelle. He enlisted the help of Forsythe Wicks, a lawyer and businessman who was the president of Alliance Française and Paul Windels, Sr.—the attorney general of the City of New York. The French government has been closely involved with the School from the first. The French ambassadors to the United States of that period, M. André Lefèbvre de Laboulaye and subsequently M. René Doynel de Saint-Quentin were part of the original group of French and American founders of the School. Others who were involved in the founding of the LFNY in the late 1930's include: Dr. Nicholas Murray Butler, the President of Columbia University, M. Hesse Strauss, the American Ambassador to France, and M. Jean Marx, the Director of Cultural Affairs at the Quai d'Orsay.

A Associação Educacional de Niterói surgiu em 1993 e é fruto de um projeto compartilhado por pais, alunos e educadores.
Tem como princípios o que considera como os quatro alicerces da Educação para o século XXI: aprender a conhecer, aprender a fazer, aprender a viver junto e aprender a ser, e a qualidade administrativa através da gestão democrática. A Escola mantém classes do Grupo I ao 3º ano do Ensino Médio com, no máximo, 15 alunos na Educação Infantil, 20 alunos na 1ª série do Ensino Fundamental, 25 alunos nas demais séries do Ensino Fundamental e 30 alunos nas classes do Ensino Médio. |

Em 1972, com as inovações introduzidas pela Lei 5692/71 na Educação Brasileira, foi implantada a reforma de ensino do 1º grau(hoje Ensino Fundamental) sob a direção do sobrinho de D. Marília, Reynaldo Mattoso Cavalcanti. Sob sua orientação a escola passou também por outras transformações.
No ano de 1976, implementou-se a criação do Mattosinho com a finalidade de atender aos alunos da educação infantil. A escola continuava a crescer até que em 1978 foi inaugurada a nova e atual sede, na rua José Bonifácio nº 39. O Ensino Médio foi implantado em 1985, com a colaboração do Prof. Comte Bittencourt, que meses antes assumira a Direção Administrativa da escola. A partir daí, nossa escola passou a denominar-se Colégio Marília Mattoso. |

De lá para cá muita coisa aconteceu e, atualmente, o Grupo é formado por três instituições, cada qual com sua sede:
- O Colégio e Pré-vestibular Bernoulli: que possui Ensino Fundamental II, da 5ª à 8ª série (6ª à 9ª série de acordo com a nova legislação que instituiu o Ensino Fundamental de 9 anos), Ensino Médio, da 1ª à 3ª série, e Pré-vestibular (com coordenação e projeto pedagógico idênticos ao do Pré-vestibular Elite).
- Pré-vestibular Elite: possui turmas de pré-vestibular com foco na preparação para os vestibulares mais difíceis do país.
- Editora Bernoulli: responsável pela elaboração do material didático utilizado pelo Grupo Bernoulli nas turmas de 3ª série do Ensino Médio e de Pré-vestibular, bem como pela comercialização desse material com outras escolas.
