The large courtyard outside the Bloomingdale's building is occupied annually by a large Christmas tree. About a week before Christmas, every year, the tree is lit, preceded by extravagant holiday performances. The trees are taken from a private timber area near Mount Shasta, and shipped to Fashion Island in several pieces, which are then re-assembled using steel rods and a large crane.
Dean & DeLuca announced that it would be opening a new West Coast flagship store at Fashion Island in the fall of 2009.

The Palisades Center, often referred to as the Palisades Mall, in West Nyack, New York is the twelfth largest Shopping Mall in the United States, and the second largest in the Tri State Area.
The mall has four levels, each of which is approximately the shape of a rectangle. Its anchor stores include Barnes & Noble, BJ's Wholesale Club, Macy's, Home Depot, JC Penney, Lord & Taylor, Staples, Best Buy, and Target. BJ's and Home Depot are not accessible from the mall itself. BJ's is on the bottom level, with Home Depot built on top of it and Target on top of that. The mall as of 2007[update] is going through an extensive renovation that has moved the old 10 screen theater to a replacement Cinemark 16 screen "stadium style seating" theater in the north ring road area on Avenue O-8. The vacated theater pad will house new restaurants and a new corridor is being built along it for another 31 stores. Foothills Mall is an indoor regional shopping mall located in Maryville, Tennessee, a suburb of Knoxville. Foothills Mall features approximately 70 stores and restaurants. Adjacent to the mall is the Foothills Plaza complex which includes several additional restaurants and a cineplex with 8 screens.
Opened in 1983, Foothills Mall is the only shopping mall in burgeoning suburban Blount County, part of the Knoxville Metropolitan Area. The mall was originally anchored by Maryville based Proffitt's, a regional department store; Miller's, another regional department store that was a division of Allied Stores; JC Penney; and Sears. Cedar Hills Crossing has been in operation since 1969, and is located approximately at the intersection of SW Cedar Hills Boulevard and Jenkins Road. An underground chemical release at the site was discovered in the 1980s. Considerable analysis of this release, along with other on site environmental factors, has been conducted to provide for safety of mall patrons and area residents. At least through the period 1970 to 1990 (the interval when the release occurred) the center functioned in compliance with most local governmental standards for environmental regulation. Source
