Bill Forbes Chevrolet Chrysler Jeep Dodge Bill Forbes started in the car business in 1978 as a car salesman at Royal Oldsmobile in Charleston, West Virginia. At that time, the Key-Royal chain of dealerships was one of the largest in the country, and offered an extensive training program in automotive sales and management. In July of 1979, he was offered the position of Used Car Manager of Bob Robinson Chevrolet in his hometown of New Martinsville, West Virginia, and accepted it. In 1981, he was made General Manager, and in 1985, at the age of 29, purchased the dealership from his employer, Bob Robinson. The dealership then became Bill Forbes Chevrolet-Chrysler-Plymouth-Dodge. Since 1985, the dealership has acquired another location and franchise, Jeep, and has grown to over 50 employees. At Bill Forbes Chevrolet-Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge, we acknowledge that God is in control of all things, that it is His hand that blesses and gives increase; and that this dealership cannot control its own destiny outside of His blessing, protection, and provision. Born in 1920 in the Cedar Creek area of Horry County, South Carolina, Harry Lavin served his country heroically during World War lI. As a Captain in the United States Army Air Corps, he piloted 96 1/2 missions. Unfortunately, before the awful conflict ended, Harry's plane was shot down and he was captured by the enemy, becoming a prisoner of war. For valorous service during combat, he received numerous awards, including a Silver Star and Purple Heart.
Harry first broke into the car business in 1960 by becoming a successful Ford salesman in the Chicago, Illinois area. In 1974, he opened his first dealership, representing Ford Motor Company in Green Bay, Wisconsin. |
