Em 1970 José Carlos Guerreiro viaja o Brasil como modelo dos desfiles da Rhodia, em companhia de Rita Lee, Tim Maia, Jorge Benjor e Mila Moreira. Em 1972 abre seu primeiro ateliê, desenvolvendo trabalhos em couro e prata com seu amigo e sócio, o ator Luiz Gustavo, na época, interpretando em novela televisiva, o papel do “bom vivan” Beto Rockfeller, um recorde de audiência na ocasião. Depois de alguns anos distante de seu ateliê, Guerreiro volta a fazer sucesso com suas peças e em 2000, inaugura loja no Shopping Iguatemi, em São Paulo. Em 2003, sedimenta sua posição no mercado paulistano inaugurando loja no Espaço Daslu, vindo a seguir a loja em St. Tropez, balneário francês. Em 2004, mais três lojas são abertas por Guerreiro: Fórum Ipanema e Fashion Mall no Rio de Janeiro e Park Shopping – Brasília.
