Karcher Mall is an enclosed shopping mall in the city of Nampa, Idaho, USA. The mall, which is believed to be the first enclosed shopping mall in Idaho, opened in 1965 and has been redeveloped several times since. As of 2008, the mall comprises more than thirty stores, with Burlington Coat Factory, Macy's, Macy's Clearance Center, Ross Dress For Less, and Steve & Barry's as anchor stores. The Manhattan Mall, one of the few traditional indoor malls in New York City, is located at 33rd Street and Sixth Avenue. There are entrances to the 34th Street-Herald Square subway station and the 33rd Street PATH station on the second basement level.
The mall is located in the high-rise building formerly used by the Gimbels flagship store, which closed in 1986. On April 18, 2007, JCPenney announced that it would open a 150,000 square foot store at the mall, its first in Manhattan. The site currently occupied by Oak Ridge City Center was selected by the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission to establish a permanent shopping center in the years following World War II. In 1951 the AEC selected a company headed by Guilford Glazer to build the new shopping center. A shortage of steel resulting from the Korean War delayed construction, but the Downtown Shopping Center opened in 1955. This shopping area was considered a replacement for the former "townsite" area around Jackson Square.
