The particular cleft is the valley and brook between Emerson and Grymes Hills. This valley was deepened by the glacier 20,000 years ago. The brook which ran through the valley originated in Clove Swamp and ran to the Kill Van Kull. The damming of this brook over the years created the different lakes and ponds in the area.

It is now privately owned. The Space Needle is a tower 184 m (605 feet) high and 42 m (138 feet) wide at its widest point and weighs 9,550 tons. It is built to withstand winds of up to 240 km/h (150 mph) and earthquakes up to 9.5 magnitude, and has 25 lightning rods on the roof to withstand lightning strikes. Source

Petco Park is an open-air ballpark in downtown San Diego, California, USA. It opened in 2004, replacing Qualcomm Stadium as the home park of Major League Baseball's San Diego Padres. O Hopi Hari é um dos maiores parques temáticos do Brasil, com 760 mil m². Localiza-se no município de Vinhedo, na Rodovia dos Bandeirantes, a 72km da capital do estado de São Paulo, ao lado do parque aquático Wet´n Wild. O parque é um país fictício - seus funcionários são os habitantes (hópius e hópias) - com "Presidente", capital, idioma próprio, entre outras características. O parque Hopi Hari é dividido em 5 regiões, cada qual com suas características e história, e em cada uma delas, têm suas respectivas atrações (brinquedos), são elas: Kaminda Mundi, Mistieri, Infantasia, Aribabiba e Wild West.

Fundado em 1932, o Jockey Club Brasileiro teve como primeiro presidente Linneo de Paula Machado, que foi o responsável pela construção do Hipódromo da Gávea, a maior obra da cidade na época. Nasceu de uma idéia no ano de 1994, de duas irmãs que tinham como objetivo principal proporcionar à criança urbana um contato com a vida rural, resgatando, de uma maneira lúdica, a infância perdida de quem vive nos grandes centros. A Confeitaria Cavé ou, simplesmente, Cavé, data de 1860. É a mais antiga confeitaria do Rio de Janeiro. Foi fundada por Charles Auguste Cavé, francês que ficou a frente do negócio até 1922. Entrar nela é voltar ao passado, reviver um pouco do Rio Antigo. A arquitetura marcante da Cavé possui influências de diversos países. Lustres, vitrais e vidros em geral eram franceses; as cadeiras e mesas foram projetadas por Cólon, um espanhol que residia no Brasil.

O Bosque da Barra ou Parque Arruda Câmara, localizado no quilômetro 6 da Avenida das Américas com 50 hectares ocupados com vegetação típica de praia é refúgio natural de pássaros e animais. Com área equivalente a 50 campos de futebol, constitui uma das áreas verdes mais visitadas da região, propiciando um delicioso passeio.
O parque possui amplos gramados, equipamentos para a prática esportiva como campos de futebol e quadras de vôlei, payground para a criançada, pista em terra batida com extensão de 3.000 metros para caminhada e trilhas na mata para a prática de mountain bike.

Projetado por Joseph Pitilick e construído para substituir o antigo mercado municipal, que não mais preenchia as necessidades da Capital, foi inaugurado em 1926 na mais nova avenida, que começava a adquirir seu caráter comercial, a avenida Capichaba (daí o nome do Mercado da Capichaba, com "ch"), atual Jerônimo Monteiro. Nessa época, o mar batia próximo de sua fachada posterior onde havia um atracador para pequenas embarcações que traziam os produtos frescos.

A Cidade das Crianças Leonel Brizola é um dos maiores parques públicos de lazer da América Latina, ocupando uma área de 186 mil m2 (equivalente a 20 campos de futebol com as dimensões do Maracanã), em Santa Cruz, região oeste da cidade.

O XKart é um grupo de kart amador do Rio de Janeiro, fundado em 2003, que realiza campeonatos de kart indoor. Apesar do que possa parecer, o termo "kart indoor", não se refere a competições em pista coberta. Esse termo atualmente é sinônimo de kart de aluguel, ou seja, karts alugados e mantidos pelos próprios kartódromos, independentemente de a pista ser coberta ou não

A Feira Hippie de Ipanema, com mais de quarenta anos de existência, é um espaço aberto onde o visitante vai encontrar em aproximadamente 900 pontos de exposição, artesanato brasileiro, bijuterias, bordados em roupas e acessórios, pinturas em tela, objetos de decoração, etc.
Funciona somente aos domingos de 07:00h às 20h.
A freqüência de turistas brasileiros e estrangeiros já foi mais expressiva em passado recente, mas, ainda é um local interessante para um passeio após o almoço para garimpar algumas peças com bom preço.
Alguns nomes de expressão iniciaram suas atividades na Feira de Ipanema, como o empresário do segmento de moda Vitor Hugo e a artista plástica Miriam Medeiros, entre outros.
