DDK Tours was established in 1985 by Charles L. Alphin Sr. when he was a sergeant in the St. Louis Police Department, as an educational and historical venture for all people. He was introduced to Kingian Nonviolence by Dr. Bernard LaFayette Jr. and received training at The King’s Centers Annual Summer Institute for Kingian Nonviolence. Realizing how misinformed he was concerning nonviolence and Dr. Martin L. King, Jr., he wanted to share this information with others, especially youth. Alphin Sr. then started organizing Educational and Training tours to The King Center, Atlanta GA.

de la Houssaye's Swamp Tours is owned and operated by Marcus de la Houssaye, a life-long resident of South Louisiana who has extensive real-world experience that has acquainted him with many aspects of Louisiana's swamps and marshlands. Big Apple Greeter's office is staffed by 6 paid staff and about 35 volunteers who work in every aspect of the program, from answering visitors’ questions and matching visitors with Greeters, to computer tech support and special events. What might look easy to do on the surface (you submit a request and a volunteer meets you at your accommodation) actually takes a large infrastructure to support. We receive over 10,000 requests a year, and it takes a lot of people to make sure the right volunteer speaking the right language is meeting the right visitors at the right time and location.
