Griffith Observatory is an icon of Los Angeles, a national leader in public astronomy, a beloved civic gathering place, and one of southern California's most popular attractions. Soon thereafter, a handful of diplomats and American Muslims formed the Washington Mosque Foundation. The Foundation’s membership quickly grew to include representatives from every Islamic nation in the world and American citizens. They all supported the Foundation’s appeal for funds. They managed to raise enough money that enabled them to purchase the land that the Center sits on now on Washington’s “Embassy Row”. They purchased the land on April 30, 1946, and laid the cornerstone on January 11, 1949.
Finally, with its completion, the Islamic Center’s dedication ceremony took place on June 28, 1957. Former United States President Dwight D. Eisenhower spoke for the American representatives. In his address, he praised the Islamic world’s “traditions of learning and rich culture” which have “for centuries contributed to the building of civilization.” He affirmed America’s founding principle of religious freedom and stated that: “America would fight with her whole strength for your right to have here your own church and worship according to your own conscience. This concept is indeed a part of America, and without that concept we would be something else than what we are.”

The Mississippi Petrified Forest is a fascinating place, located in hills with ravines hollowed out by nature during the past century. The size of the petrified logs indicates that as living trees, these stone giants were over one hundred feet tall, and perhaps a thousand or more years old.

Assim surgiram os três tipos de florestas amazônicas: as florestas montanhosas Andinas, as florestas de terra firme e as florestas fluviais alagadas, as duas últimas na Amazônia brasileira.

The USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center is located in Flushing, in the New York City borough of Queens and has been the home of the US Open Grand Slam tennis tournament played every year in August and September. O Parque e composto por cachoeiras exuberantes, piscinas naturais e artificiais, bosques suntuosos e pedras esculturais, onde adultos e crianças compõem um cenário de integração com a natureza.
Alem de parque aquático, o clube conta com quadras (vôlei, futsal e peteca), campo de futebol socyte, playground, chalés, saunas, trilhas naturais, bar e restaurante e, para momentos de meditação nesse espaço privilegiado, encontra-se uma capela ecumênica que estabelece um elo com a natureza, a verdade, o respeito, a paz e o amor.

Com a certificação, o Bosque entra na lista dos jardins brasileiros que integram a Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI), rede mundial com 1.846 jardins em 148 países e mais de 4 milhões de coleções de plantas vivas. A conquista do título também facilita a captação de recursos nacionais e internacionais para o desenvolvimento de projetos científicos e de educação ambiental. Entre as coleções estão mais de 80 mil espécies de plantas vasculares, principalmente orquídeas, cactos e outras suculentas, palmeiras, bulbosas, coníferas e árvores de regiões temperadas e espécies silvestres, especialmente as que estão ameaçadas, assim como milhares de espécies cultiváveis de importância econômica e seus correspondentes silvestres, como plantas frutíferas e medicinais. Além disso, jardins botânicos têm outras coleções valiosas, como herbários (espécimes preservadas) e bancos de sementes. No Brasil, país campeão da biodiversidade mundial - são mais de 50 mil espécies de plantas e 3 mil de peixes de água doce, a maioria na Amazônia - existem 26 jardins botânicos, distribuídos em 14 estados.

Uma área de aproximadamente 13 (treze) hectares, localizado no perímetro urbano da cidade de Manaus na zona central - leste. Projetado e estruturado para fomentar e promover o desenvolvimento do programa de Difusão Científica e de Educação Ambiental do INPA, ao mesmo tempo preservando os aspectos da biodiversidade existente no local.

Morristown National Historical Park is nationally significant as the site of the 1779-80 winter encampment of the Continental Army under General George Washington. Few places evoke the spirit of patriotism and independence, represent individual and collective sacrifice, or demonstrate the resolve, tenacity and determination of the people of the United States to be free as does Morristown. The historic landscapes, structures, objects, and archeological and natural resources at Morristown are tangible links to one of the most defining events in our nation's history. Here the Continental Army under Washington's leadership emerged as a cohesive and disciplined fighting force. The Morristown experience is fundamental to both American history, and remains a source of inspiration for Americans and the world.
