A República é ainda uma jovem de quatorze anos, cujos princípios estão em plena fase de consolidação sob o governo de Rodrigues Alves, naquele ano de 1904. No Rio de Janeiro, capital da incipiente República, é o ano no qual será discutida e finalmente aprovada a vacina obrigatória contra a varíola. No campo econômico, o Banco da República tem seus estatutos modificados em assembléia de acionistas e passa a se denominar Banco do Brasil.
O Estado do Amazonas é chefiado por Silvério Nery, sucedido ainda em 1904 por Constantino Nery, cujo vice-governador é Antonio Bittentcourt. |
