Over a hundred years ago, Victoria Ward and her husband Curtis Perry Ward, shared a unique business partnership and created an estate extending from Thomas Square to the shore. Their former home, "Old Plantation", is the site of Blaisdell Concert Hall. Cedar Hills Crossing has been in operation since 1969, and is located approximately at the intersection of SW Cedar Hills Boulevard and Jenkins Road. An underground chemical release at the site was discovered in the 1980s. Considerable analysis of this release, along with other on site environmental factors, has been conducted to provide for safety of mall patrons and area residents. At least through the period 1970 to 1990 (the interval when the release occurred) the center functioned in compliance with most local governmental standards for environmental regulation. Source

Dakota Square Mall is an enclosed shopping center in the city of Minot, North Dakota. The largest mall within 170 km, it includes four major anchor stores, over 70 smaller stores, a food court, and a nine-screen Carmike Cinema with stadium seating. It also includes local recruiting offices for the United States military.
One unusual feature of the mall is a Sleep Inn & Suites, which is directly attached to the mall itself. The hotel also features Splashdown Dakota Super Slides, a 24,000 square foot water park complex. Dakota Square is one of only a few shopping malls in the United States to feature an attached hotel. West County Center is a shopping mall located in Des Peres, Missouri, originally built in 1969. The original mall closed in 2001, and a new mall on the site opened in 2002. From the mid 1990s-2007, the mall was known as Westfield (Shoppingtown) West County and was one of 7 St. Louis malls owned by the Australian mall company until CBL & Associates acquired 4 out of 5 Westfield St. Louis malls in October, 2007. The newest addition to the Mills is a 130,000-square-foot Cabela's store that opened on April 13, 2007. Also in April 2007, The Mills Corp. merged into Simon Property Group; St. Louis Mills is their only property in the St. Louis area.
